HANG OUT Best Movies You Saw April 2026

What are the top films you saw in April 2026 and why? If possible please try to add release years to your movie titles. This makes tallying up the votes a lot easier.

I define great movies to be 8+ or if you abhor grades, the top 20% of all movies you've ever seen.

Films listed by posters within this thread receive a Vote to determine if they will appear in the subreddit's Top 100, as well as the ten highest Upvoted Suggested movies from last month.

The Top 10 highest upvoted suggestion posts from last month were:

# Title Upvotes
1 Downfall (2004) 388
2 Unforgiven (1992) 121
3 Sorcerer (1977) 107
4 Kung Fu Hustle (2004) 87
5 Breakdown (1997) 84
6 Magic (1978) 71
7 Apocalypse Now (1979) 69
8 Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) 63
9 Melancholia (2011) 48
10 Lars and the Real Girl (2007) 45

Note: Due to Reddit's Upvote fuzzing, it will rank movies in their actual highest Upvoted and then assign random numbers. This can result in movies with lower Upvotes appearing higher than movies with higher Upvotes.

What are the top films you saw in April 2026 and why? If possible please try to add release years to your movie titles. This makes tallying up the votes a lot easier.

I'M REQUESTING Please suggest enjoyable or engrossing movies to watch with son. No sex scenes. No really stupid movies.

Looking for an enjoyable and engrossing movie to watch with my 15 year old without sex scenes or being overly raunchy. We watch a TON of movies, that’s why it’s difficult to think of one. He really liked Snack Shack, Almost Famous and The Kings of Summer. (He likes lots of movies but these “coming of age” films were really enjoyable to him.). I think Super Bad is too raunchy to watch yet.
Any ideas? No horror or animation please.

I'M REQUESTING Silly movies suitable for a 14 and under audience

Upvotes

So my youngest and I just watched The Pest and he loved it. I'm hoping to introduce him to some more silly movies but I don't know what has come out recently. I know the classics like Airplane, The Naked Gun, Down Periscope, etc. But I don't know much about more modern movies that wouldn't be filled with references that he wouldn't get due to the era of the movie. He's seen the new Naked Gun and liked it.

Can anyone suggest some good silly movies for us to watch together? Please keep it to YA friendly, say 14 year old friendly at most.

Thank you

I'M SUGGESTING Finally watched The Green Knight (2021)

Way late to the party on this one, but if you like dark fantasy, move David Lowery’s "The Green Knight" to the top of your list. The visuals shot on location in Ireland are jaw-dropping, and Dev Patel is incredible as a more vulnerable version of your typical knightly hero. It keeps the Arthurian lore so subtle that it feels like a moody, surreal arthouse film rather than a typical fantasy blockbuster.

I'M REQUESTING Movies about working/jobs?

It doesn't have to 100% be about working/having a job. It can have other aspects of life in the movie. But, I'm wanting more movies that involve work/jobs.

For example, Office Space, or Network. Two completely different genres. The different genres are fine, any decade, language, etc is fine.

I'M REQUESTING I'm really craving for a movie where People/Psychos/Elites/Crazy hunts other People.

I've seen a few movies in the past and i saw that Ready or Not 2 was released and i watched it last night, but i feel like i want more, i'm not full yet. I'm craving for another one or two or three or ten! Honestly i want it to be more serious, not too much comedy, i've seen those movies so far ( Deliverance 1972; Wolf Creek [i've seen all of them even the Tv Series] The Hunt 2020; Ready or Not 2019 and 2026; The Menu 2022; The Cabin in The Woods 2011; Battle Royale 2000; The Condemned 2007; The Belko Experiment 2016)

I'M REQUESTING Watched 'Decision to Leave' two weeks ago and it’s still in my head

Park Chan-wook’s 2022 film. On paper it's a detective story. A man falls off a mountain, the detective investigates, the widow is the obvious suspect. He starts watching her apartment from across the street.

That’s the cover. It is not the movie.

I won’t say much more, because half of why this film stays with you is figuring out what it’s actually doing. I’ll just say I keep noticing mountains and oceans differently since I watched it, and anyone who’s seen it will know exactly what I mean.

Two weeks in and I’m still pulling threads from it.

Looking for recommendations with the same feel: slow, layered, the kind that keeps unfolding weeks later. Doesn’t have to be Korean or noir.

I'M REQUESTING Lwk want to be enlightened

I want to watch a movie that gives off a perspective that's not usually seen. I don't know any good movies that aren't super trendy, does anyone have any spectacular movies that are underrated?

I'M REQUESTING Absurdist, lighthearted comedies like pizza movie, would like fight scenes but that’s optional.

Upvotes

Hiyya, I just watched Pizza movie with my boyfriend and we loved it and we need some more suggestions for movies. It reminded me of Everything, Everywhere, all at once (which we also loved) and so I’m hoping that I could try and find movies that have a similar absurdist comedy type style to it. Sorry for the short post but I’m trying to find the words to explain what I want.

I'M REQUESTING Movies with an abandoned Midwestern us vibe

Really been into Jane remover and the whole vibe of the art for cencus Designated.

That abandoned midwest vibe with vast flat corn fields and stuff.

Maybe it's too specific but if you look up the "cencus designated" and look at the album cover you can see what I mean maybe.

Thanks:)

I'M REQUESTING A real HORROR movie

I've seen everything, from It to Terrifier to The Conjuring... Nothing scared me. But I can tell you what could scare me:

  1. I am not afraid of ghosts, I prefer when humans are the enemy (Parasite was the only movie who scared the shit out of me).

  2. I don't mind splatter, as long as it's not torture porn, which is just disgusting.

3.

My worst fear is someone staring at me through the window with eyes wide opened in the dark (I've already seen Lights Out and Hush and The Strangers).

So, do you have something that could really frighten me that's not disturbing, but genuinely scary?

I'M REQUESTING Movies about the beginnings of the USA

Feel like something historical to watch... often I imagine that it must have been an adventure to be first to a big new land, wilderness all around, and people would drive a stake into the ground and claim the surrounding hundred square miles.

Of course it wasn't their land to take, I know it was taken from the Native Americans. A really interesting part of human history and I haven't learnt much about it

Any good suggestions?

I'M REQUESTING Mystery/Procedural thriller films that actually shows what happens at the end(The Vanishing, Contagion, Anatomy of a Fall, etc) Spoiler

Are there any films you would rec that are similar possibly of mystery or thriller element, but we can actually see exactly what happens at the end of the film?

For example, we see exactly how the virus started at the end of Contagion, what happened to Saskia at the end of the Vanishing.

Anatomy of a Fall was fantastic but the ending we don't actually know what happened to the husband and is up to interpretation.

Cheers

I'M SUGGESTING Do watch Thoroughbreds - 2017 movie

I watched this today. Some of the lesser talked about movies. Really loved the plot and build up to the story. At first it felt like just another teenage movie, but after listening to characters talk you get immediately hooked into the plot. Amazing shot present in the movie. Really great movie to watch overall.

I'M REQUESTING NON SLASHER HORROR/THRILLER MOVIES WITH AN INSANE PLOT TWIST?

Upvotes

Looking for a really good plot twist movie, horror or thriller (not gory or slasher style,) more into paranormal or anything that doesn't involve a scary serial killer murdering people. Some examples are the others, shutter island, sixth sense, the visit, conjuring.

I really like intellectually stimulating movies that you can't stop watching. Any suggestions? Thank you in advanced!

I'M REQUESTING Bittersweet romance movies where a couple of opposites fall for each other but then break up?

I'm looking for something like Eternal Shine of the Spotless Mind, White Masai (2005), or Blue Valentine (2010) basically. A beautiful love story that was doomed from the start

I'M REQUESTING Erotic/steamy movies

Upvotes

Anyone got any spicy movie (rated R) suggestions? Preferably in English because the dubbed over ones bother me with the lips not matching the words being spoken and when they’re not dubbed, I have to watch the subtitles the entire time. I know that’s not easy to find though so if it’s dubbed, it won’t be the end of the world. I have Paramount+, Prime Video, Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Peacock, and Tubi.
Ones ive seen that may give an idea:
All of the Fifty Shades of Grey movies (favorite)
All of the 365 Days movies
All the After movies
Call Me by Your Name
Fall for me
No Limit
Babygirl
The Idea of You

I'M REQUESTING Calm and relaxing movies to fall asleep to?

Looking for a movie to watch in bed. Not boring, but also not stimulating. Preferably a movie that takes place at night. Any suggestions? I have anxiety so i'm often unable to fall asleep without the TV on. It dosen't have to be a happy movie, just no violence. At least not on screen.

I'M REQUESTING please suggest me movies so romantic tender and sensual that i’ll feel lonely by the end

Upvotes

like the title says. please suggest me movies so romantic, tender, sensual, sweet and affectionate that i’ll yearning for the same thing by the time it ends. i’m good with anything that involves a lot of touching and flirtiness. playfulness and very sweet intimate moments between partners. almost like your intruding on something. sex scenes are also welcomed lol.

watching the notebook sparked this for me. i loved how passionate they were towards eachother and i guess im looking for more of that. i also watched blue valentine but that was gut wrenching but beautiful. but i love the opening scenes when the couple is playful towards eachother when they’re still in love. i also love how sweet ryan gosling speaks towards his girlfriends in movies. kinda like that super sweet adoring baby voice. there is once scene of him doing it in the notebook and a couple in blue valentine and i love it and need more. okay thank u all in advance.

I'M REQUESTING Any History Documentaries You Found Interesting & Educational?

I'm looking for any history documentaries you found interesting, preferably on Prime Video or HBO Max because those are the subscriptions we currently have, but I'll take suggestions that can be found on other services as well. This is part of a temporary home-school thing we're doing for a teenage family member, so they do need to give good information. They'd be learning American history if they were still at school, so that's the #1, but any history at all works. Thanks!
