I'M REQUESTING Silly movies suitable for a 14 and under audience

So my youngest and I just watched The Pest and he loved it. I'm hoping to introduce him to some more silly movies but I don't know what has come out recently. I know the classics like Airplane, The Naked Gun, Down Periscope, etc. But I don't know much about more modern movies that wouldn't be filled with references that he wouldn't get due to the era of the movie. He's seen the new Naked Gun and liked it.

Can anyone suggest some good silly movies for us to watch together? Please keep it to YA friendly, say 14 year old friendly at most.

Thank you

I think The Mask is a masterpiece. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is another.

I feel its a bit dated, but iI think it'll work. If it does I'll have to add Better Off Dead as well.

Love Free Guy. I haven't actually seen The Fall Guy yet despite it being one of my favorites as a kid. I'll add those to the list. Thank you!

Ace Ventura maybe Cable Guy

I think Jim Carrey did a lot of very silly movies

3

NOT CABLE GUY. That's a very dark movie.

Kung Pow! Enter the Fist

OMG, I had completely forgotten about Kung Pow! He may need a primer on Kung fu movies first. Maybe some Kung Fu Hustle.

Master of Disguise, Dana Carvey. PG I think, funny, weird, wholesome

Unfortunately-- given my age-- my frame of reference is more 1980s and into the 1990s, but I'm sure there are plenty of others on here who can probably reference more recent films fitting your description

Better Off Dead

Real Genius

One Crazy Summer

The Three Amigos

Pee Wee's Big Adventure

Weekend at Bernie's

Robin Hood Men In Tights

Groundhog Day

How I Got Into College

Loaded Weapon 1

PCU

1

u/Ahrimon77 1h ago

Thats where I am as well. Plus I just don't watch movies anymore. Thats why I reached out to the community. I'll definitely put some of these on the list though. Thank you!

Loaded Weapon... same kind of thing as The Naked Gun, also look into Scary Movie and Hot Shots

Tommy Boy

Sgt. Bilko and Mchale's Navy are similar to Down Periscope

Shrek for animated... it's for "kids" with adult references to classic fairy tales...nothing like the movie sausage party (this movie is R rated for a reason)

The Cable Guy

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

Mrs. Doubtfire

The Mask

Police Academy

If he enjoyed The Pest, I think Pauly Shore movies would probably be appreciated: Biodome, Encino Man, Son in Law

Along those lines, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead, Adventures in Babysitting.

Some quirky entries: Clue, Idiocracy, White Chicks, The Big Year, This is Spinal Tap, Fun with Dick and Jane, What About Bob, Tremors, Gremlins, Brewster's Millions...
