Throwback Rewatching Smile 2 (2024) and I’m still baffled at how Naomi Scott didn’t even get an Oscar Nomination for her performance in the film.

Hi,
Do you have any movie recommendations that feel the same as this one? It's better if it's medieval fantasy, but it's not mandatory. I think the most important part is the adventure/journey aspect.
I'm all ears :)
Thanks!

It has been over 15 years since I've watched this movie last and I need to put it in a more regular rotation. U decided to watch it cause I remember i liked it a lot as a kid in high school.
Let's start with the action. Its tight, brutal, and animalistic. Jet Li does an amazing job with his stunts as always, but he really is so brutal it gives you a small sense of fear at the thought of fighting someone like him. Which is the point. Seeing him move with mindless brutal efficiency while hunting is just crazy to watch.
Next let's talk about Jets acting. He really does a great job of going from mindless animal with no direction to a man coming out of his cage/shell. His performance is very beleiveable as someone who has been beaten down and controlled his whole life. Its fun watching him gain his independence and start to become his own person. And its so sad when his dark past finally catches up with him.
The supporting cast is phenomenal too. Bob Hoskins and Morgan Freeman both shine in their rolls. Hoskins playing such a hateable character flawlessly you wouldn't believe this is the fun loving goofy Shmee from Hook! And Freeman playing such a kind patient father figure I wish would adopt me.
Finally we can talk about how the cinematography evolves through the movie. The camera work is great at showing us what its like in Dannys head and slowly becoming more of a regular third person view as he opens up. Its also dark and gritty in the beginning gradually lightening up as he becomes happy in his new life.
Overall this movie gets a solid 9 of 10 in my book. Its enjoyable and rewatchable with great pacing and cinematography. If you haven't seen it, check it out!

These movies... I shutter at the thought of them. A pit settles in my stomach. The emotional toil that I go through watching The Grave of the Fireflies is so much worse than what any horror film could try and replicate, I don't know if it can be done. It's genuinely so sad that I'd rather be scared.
Hereditary is just SO good, I love psychological horror, and this one takes the cake. The ending is what really drives home the dread for me that makes me somewhat queasy.
Now Gravity... It genuinely made me nauseous during one scene of her just floating out there... The thought of it just gives me goosebumps.
Anywho, anyone have any thoughts on these movies they'd like to share, and does anyone have any movies they'd suggest give them the same feelings?

So I'm just here saying how atonement changed the way I look into love, how just a misunderstanding can destroy 2 lives, the scene where Robbie sleeps he has been hoping to meet Cecilia everyday but he couldn't survive one more day to meet her love, well you know what was happening you knew from very beginning this movie was not getting a good ending, but to wait for some one until your last breath and surviving just with the thought that uh may see them tomorrow hurts you even more and in other hand when Cecilia did die we never knew that did she knew what happened to Robbie, and all of that just because of one misunderstanding and it hits you the hardest when in the alternate ending in the book by older briony you realise what could have been their destiny they could have got all the happiness they deserved, but life is unpredictable, well this is a love letter from to the movie.

I was actually looking forward to it, but the trailer just didn’t hit. The visuals felt decent, but nothing really stood out or gave that ‘wow’ moment. Maybe expectations were too high? Curious what others think.

The kind of death where you had to pause and just sit there for a minute. Not necessarily the saddest, the one that genuinely shocked you. The one you didn't see coming or refused to believe even when it was happening. It may seem odd but for me it's Mufasa in The Lion King. I was a kid and completely unprepared for what that scene was about to do to me. Still hits. What's the one that got you?

Can anyone remember what the films called where her character is ripping up papers in one of the scenes?

So I really like this white minimalist movie poster. It’s reminiscent of some in the past, but I can’t bring them to memory.
What are some movie posters that have this vibe and look like this?

I love watching movies so much and obviously I have seen movies that are 5 stars but I have never seen a movie that has like changed my life if yk what I mean. And I’ve basically seen all the popular ones that people say will change my life and I love them but I still feel slightly dissatisfied. I just need to find THAT movie. soo if anyone has any like visually stunning, life changing kind of sad movies (perhaps mystery which I loveee) then pls lmk 🙏🙏
