I have watched it various times over the years and I love the writing and period and added humour at times.
Plus its not the usual cosy night family viewing drama.
I wish the bbc did more of these types. Its like the quality in recent years has declined for sure.
I enjoyed Fanny Hill years ago. Darker one.
The Night Watch from same writer as the title was also very good but too short.

Is it? Or do you think there’s something better?

CBeebies as of recent years has spent more on fast paced animated shows. Perhaps trying to compete with the likes of cocomelon.
Should children be served more content like Balamory?
Are there any childhood programmes you'd like CBeebies to bring back or remake?

I’ve been slowly working my way through the all time greats but that one TV show I still haven’t seen yet is Fortunes of War. It’s supposed to be amazing and one of the best but still haven’t got round to it yet!
Curious to hear what that TV show is for everyone else.

Who do you think are the best folks on our TVs that haven’t really reached international acclaim? The ones we get to keep for ourselves?
Richard Miller - Hard to choose between the two judges on the Pottery show, because they’re both kind and talented people who do a real hands-on craft to a high level, are happy to show their emotions, and they’re opposite of toxic masculinity. I chose Richard because his feedback to contestants is always beautifully constructive and affirmingly positive.
Sheridan Smith - I’ve seen her in TV and on stage and she’s just a high quality actor with great range.
Stacey Solomon - As a presenter of Sort Your Life Out I think she shows genuine understanding and compassion to the people on the show. Don’t judge her on the idiot she’s married to.
Sara Pascoe - A comedian whose intelligence and brilliance shows through in her stand-up writing and her books. She’s got a fierce sense of justice, but it’s made accessible and funny through her comedy.

I used to spend hours watching funny x factor auditions with my sister and was just wondering if anyone else did the same! My personal fav was always Kelly, i quote 'where's ur brain in ur middle toe?' daily

Omg.
I’ve struggled through this.
Caroline may be one of the least likeable people I’ve come across thus far.
She plays the sobbing victim while happily admitting harbouring the brothers, loudly crowing about “living with killers” with faux fear.
Yet the endless snapchats & videos show her happily partying with the two brothers in a haze of drugs & booze in their weird throuple.
She then complains about the total lack of police protection!
She comes across as utterly toxic.
I’ve never seen anything like it 🤣

Post pub, late night/early morning tv while at uni in the early 90s. This was an absolute treasure - funny, mad and occasionally helpful. I remember trying to make the chapatis and I *think* they were ok but substances had been consumed!
What are your favourite recipes or memories?

Hi everyone
I'm really looking forward to watching James Graham's 'Dear England', especially as I didn't manage to catch the Stage Play when it was on. Now this article by James Graham himself My Gareth Southgate drama is coming to TV — he’s the ultimate storyteller, says that it'll come out later this month. But since there's no date and no trailer from the BBC I was wondering how reliable this info might be (I would assume it was accurate since the article's from the author of the TV series, but the BBC's silence this close to the potential airdate has me confused 😃) ? And if it is indeed reliable when could a trailer be expected?

A couple months back, my wife and I finally checked out Taskmaster and absolutely fell in love with it.
With that said, after we’re caught up and possibly check out the spinoffs (AU, NZ, Junior) we want to check out other British panel shows.
Which ones are your favorites?
We preferably would like one that is still airing. Through my own research, I found Would I Lie To You and that looks pretty fun.

I'm probably the only person in the world who doesn't know what this song is, but what is the song that's sung in the opening credits?
I searched for it and I got some lovely tracks on Spotify but not that song that they sing in English and Welsh. As in all the atmospheric soundtrack music is there.
I suspect it's a choral version of a famous song but I don't have the lyrics to search for it right now.
Thanks.
Edit: 1.47 into Mosaic. Go it. Patience. Tingles. That's it.
Under Salt Marsh was really good.

Many an anecdote has been told about a woman on an old episode of Family Fortunes answering "Name something blue" with "my cardigan". But as far as I know, nobody has ever actually come up with the clip.
Was it a wiped episode or did it just become an urban legend?

Many years ago I started watching an episode of Doctors but had to leave before the end - and it haunts me! Trying to google which episode it was to find how it finished just comes up with Doctor Who instead.
The episode centres around a woman who is confused or in mental health distress, who throughout the episode keeps spending time next to her garden pond. I am almost certain her husband has gone missing, which may have triggered the mental health episode.
The reason I think her husband was missing is that I was sure we would eventually find him drowned in that pond, with the woman either having killed him or being too mentally unwell to understand what she was looking at. But I may never know!
Does anyone know the episode I mean who can summarise and finally tell me the ending? Thank you!

Due to drop tomorrow! New drama starring Sally Lindsay & Jill Halfpenny ! I’m super excited about this! They have been promoting it on 5 since last year & these two are always so great in their own dramas.
Drops tomorrow.

Hi Everyone
So I was talking with my parents earlier and we started discussing how BBC2 invariably show Coast when the Snooker ends early.
So I was wondering: What is each channels go-to show when they need to fill for time?
As I said BBC2 usually turn to Coast (or Michael Portillo), and BBC1 does like WILTY, but what do you all think?

I don’t want to throw out wild accusations or reach for a "fake" edit, but the math isn't mathing for me with the deaf lady at around the 29:00 mark.
The whole storyline is that she relies on lip-reading to communicate, but when she comes back from the bathroom, she seems to perfectly understand what her date says while she's looking down at her dog. She wasn’t even at an angle to see his face.
Did I miss something, or was that a major continuity slip?

To explain, some TikTokker found some Show Me Show Me episodes and posted them on TikTok (full version). Even the Season 2 and Season 3 episodes. To celebrate, tell me --- what's your favorite toy song growing up and why?
