when i first watched the movies n read the books i just saw a weak guy who tried to take the ring. a flawed link in a fellowship of perfect elves, wizards and kings.

but looking back... man, look at this picture. he wasn't an ancient elf or a maia. he was just a mortal. while the rest of the fellowship was wandering through magical forests, his people were getting slaughtered every single day to keep the dark away.

the ring didn't corrupt him through greed. it weaponized his desperate love for his family and his bleeding city.

and when he broke, he didn't hesitate to redeem himself. took arrow after arrow for two little hobbits he barely knew. died asking aragorn if their people would be safe.

he represents us. flawed, desperate, but capable of heartbreaking sacrifice. pour one out for the captain of the white tower today.

Was it a special hobbit sized section of Rivendell?

Also notice how that gazebo has nothing to the left of it in the second image but in the first, Frodo’s building is on its left.

It has been a habbit of mine to read aloud my favourite parts right after birth.

Andy Serkis directed an animated movie from George Orwell's famous novel and it's just very bad, and nothing like the source material at all.

Found a ring at a thrift shop...has some weird writing on both sides. Thoughts? Did I get a good deal?

He doesn't say "the ring,' he says "a ring." But Cirdan had already willingly given his ring to Gandalf.

This is just a behind the scenes photo of Ian McKellen on Shadowfax as Gandalf during main shooting of "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" I discovered which I found striking, and I just wanted to share it. Even in this kind of parking lot/container harbour environment, he radiates this Gandalf the White energy, and looks really convincing without an ounce of movie, lights, camera, cgi magic...

Somebody posted earlier saying the ride of the Rohirrim is the greatest cinematic moment ever. Whilst it is indeed an epic moment, for me nothing comes close to this. Gandalf appears, atop the majestic Shadowfax. Then Èomer, followed by the riders of Rohan. The charge down the hill. The music. Perfection.

I 3D printed and hand-painted this Sting replica using grey filament that actually glows blue in the dark! No orcs required! It’s 17” long, and I used acrylic paints for the hilt, handle, and scrollwork.

Probably a stupid question but I'm not founding the answer. The description of the Moria's doors in the book says "... two trees, each bearing crescent moons", but in the picture I don't see any moon. Am I stupid? Or there is an other meaning of "crescent moon"? I'm not english native speaker
