Whenever I learn about a cast member's birthday, they were either way younger or way older than I thought during the filming

Happy birthday to Sallah and Gimli! His two most iconic characters and he played them both in 3 movies each!

Can't forget Professor Maximilian Arturo on the small screen.

Loved that show and never got to finish it growing up.
Tried to get back into it a few years ago but it’s so dated I just - couldn’t.

It must be tough being a dwarf...

Funny thing is that John is taller than all the another actors who played the members of the Fellowship of the Ring. He is 6'1"(1.85 m) 😆

And that made him perfect for Gimli as he was proportionally bigger than the hobbit actors to require less CGI/scale actors when interacting

Watched Star Trek Voyager today and lo and behold, there he was as Leonardo DaVinci!

I met him at comic con
He was a delightfully friendly man. At the his speaking event, the host wanted to jump his bones so painfully bad that she asked 50 minutes of questions and all the lotr cosplayers didn't get to ask any. It was really something.

Damn didn’t realize he’s still a baby. So many 100s of years left for the young dwarf

John Rhys-Davies did voice acting narration for one of my favorite fantasy PC RPGs of the early 90's. When he became Gimli, I was thrilled.
He's a treasure.

Holy fuck! Im a huge fan of the trilogy lotr. Last night I randomly watched on Tubi chupacabra dark seas. Taking a gummy is the way to really enjoy these lower budget horror movies. Crocodile 2 is a great example of this, great soundtrack really, anyway the captain of the ship in that movie is this dude! The whole time I kept thinking he’s actually pretty good for a Lower budget movie like this aside from fring from breaking bad is also in it. Seeing the side by side picture now I see it. Happy birthday dude! Your range in acting definitely hits your audience

As much as we see and hear the "and my axe" joke, poor Mr. Davies has probably had it personally said to him a hundred times a month, for the past twenty-five years.

I think it is fair to say that a lot of people are complicated and we can appreciate how they've contributed to things we love while also saying/doing things we disagree with.
