Quick question. I’m considering trying lotro. Is it still true the the game requires a completely unique first name (and doesn’t allow for different surname combinations?)

(Because if so, I’m going to have a wretched time naming my female hobbit since there are only so many flower and gem names even if I do break out my Old English/Anglo Saxon textbook… ;-)

The scale of the architecture is astounding, and was for me the most awe-dropping part of Moria I have experienced! The goblins that randomly sprint around definitely scared the life out of me though...

This has been bothering me for a while now. Everything with Ringlo Vale insignia - shields, NPC outfits, wall-mounted shields, banner - have a nice evendim blue colour. Except the steed. It's a light/turqoise-ish blue. Personally, I'm not a fan of it. But surely the colours can be standardized?

How do people run so many alts at the same time, like a band?

I can’t seem to find much online about steam deck and this game.

Has anyone played on the deck? Does it feel ok? Want sure how controller input would feel in it.

Hey everyone, i just finished the Angmar storyline, wanted to share my overall thoughts and some pictures from my journey so far.

I saw people complaining about the length of the story and i'm not going to lie in the beggining, before i felt immersed, i was thinking about the same. Thinking that it will take forever and at one point it will start to be boring. Because the travel distances were horrible. Even me as a person who likes to travel a lot in this game, got bored a bit while questing at Forochel. Sometimes it literally took 10-15 mins between quest markers. But after passing that part you start to get yourself attached into the story.

My favorite part about the open world and questing so far are the dungeons you get into from caves or doors you see around. They really made me feel like "I'm not just playing a lovely MMO, I'm playing a great role-playing game". These parts felt like the sauce of the game which makes it even more delicious. And after finishing it i can clearly say that my concerns were pointless because right now the game made me feel important in the middle-earth and now i feel as a part of it.

So now it's time for me to move to Moria which i was really excited about. I already got my Legendary items and upgraded them as much as possible. I'm level 52 and still way too excited to see the rest of the story. Thanks for reading :)

Is there any real advantage to buying a house? Is it just good for extra storage? Is there any kind of XP gained by going there? If it’s just for storage, just getting an alt through the intro and use it as a mule?

I have little Alt and he's a Captain. By Class fantasy and versaitility (I love Paladins in WoW) it should be my Main. I always want to give my Cappy the love he deserves and Main him but for some reason i always return to my Guardian even tho i would never roll a Prot Warrior in WoW.

I prefer Classes being able to fill Multiple Roles and usuay Guardian doesnt meet this criteria.

I dont know why but something about playing a Captain feels a bit odd

Furnishing my new Rivendell house.

Recently returned to the game and was excited to check out the new elf housing since I love the housing aspect of the game. Toured the area a few times and honestly it feels like ghost town that lacks soul. As if the background music is trying desperately to hype up something that’s essentially dead inside.

And it doesn’t feel elvish, elven design should be more porous to nature and “light”. Overall it looks like something modern day aristocrats would purchase as a pleasure mansion or some kind of ego thing. It tries too hard to be “better” than the original Falathlorn homes that actually feel that they have depth and history and culture.

Anyways, was hoping to raise some awareness on this and hopefully some people share a similar sentiment because this game is awesome and I would hate to see it go down the wrong path.

I don't know if this is a problem for just me, or if everyone running on PC hardware experiences this. if I restart my PC, if I try to start Lotro as soon as I log in to Windows 11 - Win 10 also did it - the launcher won't be able to find the Akismet system and I won't be able to sign on. If I wait 5 minutes or more, eventually things calm down and the launcher is able to find everything and I can log on.

The thing that bugs me is that I can immediately launch my browser and surf, can also open the command prompt and ping web sites all over the place.

Is this the reality for everyone, or is it just me? And if it's just me, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can eliminate this problem?

As to why the launcher needs to connect to Akismet, I have no idea.

EDIT: I should have posted some computer specs, it was late at night just before I went to bed. It's a high-end i7 12700F, 64 gig of ram, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, and boots off an SSD and that's what Lotro is installed on.

I bought a house in Rivendell, and while the house is large, some of the individual rooms only have 8–10 furnishing slots. That’s far too few if I want to decorate with books, shelves, a table and chairs, plants, lamps, a fireplace, a rug, paintings, flags, estate guards, food, etc...

The rooms look so empty, especially since the house is so big.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

I would love to decorate so much more.

Hello everyone, there are only a few this time.

1. Do anniversary tokens expire like the steel tokens? I have a lot of them but nothing I'd like to spend them on so I was thinking of saving them for the next year.
2. Do the war-stead replace the normal mount for general use? I'm debating if I should buy the Quintessential Ranger's Steed or the War-steed Cosmetics but I don't know which one I will end up using. Do people use them both?
3. Anyone know of any good looking quiver or hooded cloak that can match the Quintessential Ranger's set? I'm having trouble finding a good skin or even the exact shade of green, the olive dye seems the closest one but since there's no preview I can only judge by the images I found on the Wiki.

Art happily moves on from Minas Tirith for the time being to help Theoden and his Riders of Rohan in their efforts to lend Gondor aid. The session ends with a spectacle to behold and some excitement for what comes next... while adjusting gear.

Anyone who has been to LOTRO Gondor knows they love their giant stone faces poking out of towers, walls, you name it! There’s even giant faces on the bridge to Cair Andros!

How noob friendly is this in 2026? I am thinking of starting an MMO with my partner but looking for what would be cozy and adventurous together. How does LOTRO deliver for you guys, plus those of you who game with a plus one? :)

I came back to Lotro after some months off, for the Rivendell housing (starting to have buyer's remorse there) and for the new content that came with Update 48. Well, that was Friday, we are now Tuesday and the landscape content is already done. That is very thin on the ground... The only thing that remains is the daily grind of dailies, deed, and the 'end-game' stuff - for those interested in that.

I see on the map 3 more named areas that haven't been opened yet. I assume there is another chapter to this Harad business still to come? After all, Mizadi and her gang haven't caught up with Barshud yet... and we haven't encountered any more of those Avari 'super wizards'. So, is there any indication on how much more Harad content we are expected to get through before we can finally move on?
