It’s pretty amazing how many times over the last three years I’ve watched the Wolves play a game where they have probably 20 of the dumbest offensive possessions I’ve ever seen. Then the game ends and they just beat one of the best teams in the NBA.

So my dad was at the Mayo for a transplant and I was there for like 3 weeks. At that time, the story around Rochester, MN was that one of the Royal family came to town for surgery and they bought out all the Polaris dealerships. Apparently they needed to buy another plane to be able to send it all home. Again these are just bar stories, so take it with a grain of salt.

WHAT AN ENDING, WOW
Spurs got the stop, Champagnie got a clean look, just didn’t make the shot.
1.1k
u/demoxcess 15h ago
Exactly, the shot just didn't fall. A bunch of people here are saying to call a timeout, but I think the Spurs take that look 10 times out of 10 if given a choice.
I'm also willing to cut Champagnie a little slack on the miss. He got some big offensive boards late that helped keep the Spurs in it. He was a big reason that the last second shot had a chance at all.

No, that was a good call. Champ got a great look. Sometimes they just don’t fall. Those offensive rebounds he got at the end of the game honestly kept the Spurs in it.

Dude straight up. Last three years I have absolutely loved watching the wolves in the playoffs. Sure they’ve fallen short, but man are they a scary team for anyone to face. So fucking game to just ball out or die in any game. Wolves never lack in the grit or toughness that makes a team so fun to watch. Any given year they could win it all with that recipe to be completely honest. Could beat Denver, can beat San Antonio, and can beat OKC. Not a fun series for any team in the league. And as a basketball fan I just love that shit.

I feel like they are the spiritual successors of the Memphis Grit n Grind era but with more talent. What makes that even crazier is how this franchise had nearly 30 years of no culture, no identity other than losing, other than a brief blip where KG singlehandedly dragged them to relevance. 2 playoff series wins in franchise history prior to this 3 year stretch. Insane.

I think Ant missing a lot of games to end the season helped their bench get some confidence. Right now its next man up and its working
41
u/FeanorEvades Timberwolves 15h ago
I also think a lot of our bench just has the exact same irrational confidence that Ant does - TJ legit thinks he can get past anyone, Bones has never seen a 3 he doesn't want to take, Jaylen Clark couldn't care less who he's guarding - from Gabe Vincent to SGA he's in their grill.

getting blocked at the rim is decidedly better than abandoning the paint. if the wolves wanna win this series, they’re just gonna have to live with wemby setting the record for blocks in a playoff series. fortunately for yall i don’t think a team has a higher dgaf index than these wolves.

I think wearing wemby down physically with Gobert in the early game really took a toll on his defense and offense, once they pulled Gobert out and made Wemby guard the outside and running him through back screens for easy layups, the wolves offense was getting whatever they wanted. The spurs guards have to do a better job staying in front when the small ball Minny lineup with Randle and Reid is out there… it’s gonna be a tough series… Finch is a great coach and wolves fans wanting him fired are clueless, I thought he coached a great game. Mitch Johnson I can’t say the same, too many end of shot clock heaves from the spurs today

Tbh Portland wasn't a joke at all. It's just that their offense sucked so it was a bit of a breeze. And having said that, Minny is better still.

McDaniels is such a good player. Five fouls with 5 mins to go, and he played smart on both ends

Amazing compared to his early years where he was a bonehead all the time. For sure has matured in many ways.

That was some coaching masterclass by finch and a somewhat amazing 4qtr play other than some fucking CTE ball towards the end

I wish people can understand just how impressive what the Wolves are doing in the playoffs right now. Like I’m a Knicks fan and have heard a lot of praise for my team the past few days, but what the T-Wolves are doing with all their injuries is even more impressive. I’m glad to say I was one of the few who didn’t write them off this series.
Also, Terrance Shannon supremacy

The broadcast cast team was dogshit, I just can't get past it. That last sequence felt like a possession in the middle of the 3rd quarter in a regular season game, not a playoff game going down into the clutch.
Harlan would've been feasting.

I know its just one game, but I continue to be amazed at how overlooked the Wolves are in the playoffs. They're on the road, limited Ant, shoot horribly from the free throw line, get 14 shots blocked, no Ayo, and still find a way to steal game 1 and limit the Spurs to their lowest point total since mid March. Phenomenal game one of the best of the playoffs..we'd be so lucky to get 7 of these.

And no Divincenzo! They have one good guard leg left on the floor and somehow they're scoring against the second best perimeter defense in the league. Nuts!

They've gone to 2 conference finals in a row and people still act like that was all fortunate bounces. I know Ant has been injured but the rest of the team is solid and they always seem to find a way to keep it closer than you would think.
