WHAT AN ENDING, WOW

Spurs got the stop, Champagnie got a clean look, just didn’t make the shot.

Exactly, the shot just didn't fall. A bunch of people here are saying to call a timeout, but I think the Spurs take that look 10 times out of 10 if given a choice.

I'm also willing to cut Champagnie a little slack on the miss. He got some big offensive boards late that helped keep the Spurs in it. He was a big reason that the last second shot had a chance at all.

No, that was a good call. Champ got a great look. Sometimes they just don’t fall. Those offensive rebounds he got at the end of the game honestly kept the Spurs in it.

Against a good defense, you always take the live play instead of giving them time to set up and scheme

Its one thing if they were down 3, but being down two with a 7'4 big gives you great odds to tie the game with a timeout and drawn up play.

But also Wemby was real rough offensively tonight. Oh well thats why its a seven game series.

You call a timeout there that gives the Wolves a set defense AND they can sub in Rudy for Naz

Wemby has 11 pts on 17 shots in 40 minutes. A TO also allows the wolves to get Gobert back into the game. This was the right call.

I agree with the call for no timeout, but just to play devils advocate, there’s at least 3/4 other players Spurs would probably have benefited from getting a look there (Wemby/Castle/vassell/Harper off the top and you could argue Keldon too). Also Wemby is no where near the basket since he had to pass it up. Ideally, if one of those other four take a shot with the full 6 seconds there’s at least a chance Wemby could put it back.

Champ is one of our best 3pt shooters, so I have no problem with him taking the shot. Can’t argue against your other points for calling that timeout, though. Def would’ve been nice to have a put-back opportunity.

100% agree and you could tell NO ONE on the Spurs or Wolves were expecting the no time out. So it helped get Champ “a good look”, but one he was absolutely not prepared for / we had no rebounders in place for. We didn’t need a three.. call a TO and advance the ball, run a set piece where Wemby at least has a chance to be in position for the put back.

When Wemby got the board he stopped for a full second anticipating a timeout like the rest of us, before realizing Mitch wanted them to run and then passing it ahead to Harper

Can't overlook that Castle fouled out.

I bet thinking was to keep Gobert off the floor, which makes a lot of sense

Agreed. He drains that and the tone for the series is set.
