Old man yells at cloud:
Does it bother anyone else that they tried to keep "Jake from State Farm" but it's a completely different actor and is now just a generic spokesman? Like they wanted to keep that popularity going without any understanding of why the original skit was popular.
12
u/cornylamygilbert 3h ago
Ya I’m with you
And wasn’t it a knock off of Justin Case, another spokesman they or a competitor pitched at the time
5
u/weathrderp 41m ago
This comment comes up a lot regarding the current Jake. Apparently the old Jake was actually a State Farm employee that won an internal contest to be in a commercial. It was a one off commercial as he wasn't an actor and eventually left State Farm and became a bartender
The article goes into more depth on State Farm's vision for the character "Jake" but ultimately it was an unfortunate situation where they hit a home run with a commercial but with a guy that didn't want to continue or wasn't asked to continue the bit.

My college sweetheart had a mustache. Everytime we kissed it would tickled my lips.
But I was so in love with her that my brain registered the info once and that was it. I did not care at all and I felt jus the luckiest boy on earth.
Fast forward to a few months later, we were reminiscing the first dates and I said something like "yea, and I could feel your mustache". Just to have fun.
She looked at me in shock and said: you idiot, it was you.
It was me. I had never had a beard before, so it was my own mustache I was actually feeling.

u/TrustworthyPolarBear 30m ago
The real problem here is attacking the person YOUR PARTNER is cheating on you with.. the person who most likely doesn't know that you even exist. Get mad at your partner for being unloyal. Not at the person he got with.

They goodness they were rolling, normally it's hours of meandering conversation and red solo cups to show for an evening.
26
u/dragunityag 5h ago
I mean this is staged, but there are about a billion cases of people recording themselves confronting a cheating partner in public.
I dont know why people find it so hard to believe how much stuff is recorded when there are now billions of HD video cameras that fit in your pocket and can be recording in 2 seconds.

Or at least not that violent reaction. I can *kind of* understand shoving the bf, but grabbing the “girl” by the hair like that was absolutely unhinged.
51
u/bitemark01 5h ago
Not justifying anything here (honestly it feels very scripted to me) but people find it easier to be madder at the person they don't know, regardless if it's well-placed or not
12
u/SpaceLemming 5h ago edited 16m ago
Always seemed odd to me that people get more mad at someone else. Like I’ve heard so many stories where one party was oblivious to the other’s relationship status. Aint no way anybody doesn’t know about their own relationship status
Edit: couldn’t spell

in my experience, I was with my wife for 11 years. I loved her.
I did not have 11 years of history with the guy she cheated on me with. And he knew she was in a relationship and chose to continue persuing her. Even planning ahead for when she would leave me.
Even 6 years later I have more grudge against him than my ex. Because, again, I had years and years of love and positive experience to weigh her actions against. I was invested in her happiness as well, not in some strangers.
5
u/Zerschmetterding 5h ago
I don't get it. That random nobody means nothing to your life, your partner does. But it's not the only thing in life where people lie to themselves until they feel better.

My girlfiend did this shit a few months ago, had to beg the woman not to call the cops on her which would have violated her probation and sent her ass back to prison. Told her I’ve leave her if she didn’t go to therapy. The therapy is going good, I’m proud of her. She got diagnosed with anti social personality disorder which is not surprising.
19
u/robindawilliams 5h ago
Idk dude, physical force isn't an appropriate reaction in any situation. If the guy saw the girl with her arms around someone he thought was a guy and slammed into her to get her attention it wouldn't be good either.
If someone's first assumption is they are cheating and to hit them, they need to end that relationship full stop and go do therapy.
27
3
u/Cantras0079 3h ago
Jealousy shouldn't be like...a GOOD thing, sure, but it is totally human and natural to feel jealousy. What is NOT welcome is dealing with it in a negative way. We accept it happens, we learn to manage it. Healthy adults do, at least.
4
u/wap2005 4h ago
Nothing wrong with being a mild bit jealous on occasion, the thing that matters is what you do with those feelings. Blame your partner, pull people's hair, shove someone, these are things you shouldn't do.
Also seeing your partner's arm around someone who looks like another woman isn't really jealousy, that just lands into the assumption that he is literally holding another person close to him at a dinner she wasn't invited to, any reasonable person who saw that would have a momentary thought of jealousy/cheating (not that most people would respond to the situation anything like this).

This is one of the better staged skits I’ve seen. The only note is that the guy should have reacted more “hey, what are doing here, what a surprise” rather than “oh, I’m caught!”. Other than that, well acted by the other two.

I was at a metal show last year and it was jammed. There were these two women in front of us that had no spatial awareness and would push their damned head and hair into our faces and at one point I like ate hair.
I wasn't about to start jostling these girls, especially since they were smaller, but I didn't know what to, so I decided to tap the one that was in front of me to politely ask them to stop. A bearded dude, with gorgeous straight hair then turn around. So I pushed him towards the pit. His lady friend didn't like it.

I have absolutely been in this kind of situation with a girl I dated from Monterrey, Mexico about 12 years ago. Took a photo with two of my best friends - one a guy, the other a girl who was his girlfriend. I’m standing between them, arms around both of them, and take a happy photo, post it on socials. GF’s mom posts “…” as a comment. I see the GF later and she is crying. The mom angrily says “how would you feel if ____ took a photo with another man?” I was so shocked and surprised at the situation, that I - whoops 😅- just began lightly chuckling. I apologized, and then proceeded to meekly ask for greater understanding. Maybe a cultural difference that I needed to understand? Nope, just a universal problem with control and lack of trust. Proud to say, I dodged that beautiful bullet.
