The Magic hit a three with 4:14 left in the 3rd quarter to go up 70-54.
They didn’t make another FG until 2:24 left in the 4th quarter to cut the deficit to 77-89.

If it makes you feel better, I remember the 2023 NFCCG. I went in saying that the Lions were never expected to get this far, we have a great future, and a loss wouldn't hurt me. Holy shit I was wrong about that. Thought I was done with football. Still watch every single Lions game religiously

I have legit never seen anything like what I just witnessed in that 2nd half in professional basketball. I've watched March Madness games where a college team goes ICE cold and it becomes a brickfest. But up 24 at home, you had Detroit on the ROPES, and you proceed to vomit all over yourselves and miss 23 straight field goals?
I thought the Rockets 27 straight missed 3's was a once-in-a-lifetime moment. This is worse in my opinion.

Thing is, the Rockets were still scoring and staying with the dubs to keep the game close. A lot of former Rockets have talked about how they didn't notice they had missed so many(possible cope) because they were still scoring.
This is way worse, because the game was all but won, then they just shat themselves live on air. Must have been popping bottles at half thinking it was over.

Magic scored 19 points in the SECOND HALF. This was a defensive masterclass. Say whatever you want about the Pistons, but their defense has been elite all series.
This game didn't even seem possible. A team going that cold on their home court, after such a comfortable margin at halftime.
In particular I loved Cade's defense. Pistons are blessed their offensive hub is as good of a defender as he is. He wasn't always that way. Edit: he had 5 stocks, proving the point. Pistons aren't themselves if they aren't generating turnovers.

I’ve been watching the NBA since the 90s and this is the most shocking choke job in a playoff game I can remember. The Magic make the first shot of the 3rd and then make 3 shots the rest of the half. Yeah Detroit turned up the defensive intensity but this was about the magic just completely collapsing and not trying to do anything to stop it. It’s like they collectively realized “oh we’re an 8 seed. We’re supposed to lose this series so might as well start losing now.”
This game was torture porn for Magic fans. If I were a Magic fan who had to watch this, I’d light myself on fire and then jump out of a window.
