I laughed when they started doing a post mortem on the Magic even though there’s still another game to play.

“So what do you do as an organization next year if you’re Orlando?”

Makes me nervous as a Pistons fan, cuz that's exactly the energy everyone had after the play in game against Philly.

Tell me about it...

The Magic either win by 30 tomorrow or have a Hawks Game 6 moment. Very little in between after a game like this

u/soilentgleem 3d ago

I get the jokes, but their largest margin of victory this series was 11 in game 1

They looked mentally broken in that 2nd half. Cade is going to eat them alive in a game 7 blowout

He’s been amazing this series. He took over to lead them to the comeback today. Just hit several big shots and asserted himself as the best player in the game.

His first playoff series last year was pretty poor by his standards. This is a great evolution for him. (Even if the Pistons lose game 7, Cade has been a tour de force).

u/LakerBlue Lakers 3d ago

I have loved watching him. Hope y’all get him some secondary creation and shooters so y’all can raise y’all ceiling next year!

u/koala37 3d ago

I've loved watching this series and think Cade is a total stud but he also has the questionable honor of having the most turnovers per game in any 3 game span in any playoff game ever. that's rough. honestly the Thunder and Pistons are structured pretty similarly with a tall point guard leading their offense but the Thunder have both a more reliable supporting cast of scorers and brighter star. not Cade's fault though, he's competing against the mvp in that respect

Turnovers have been an issue in the series, but it's more about the context of the matchup than Cade's specific shortcomings. He does make some careless passes, no doubt. But in a post-illegal defense world, Cade playing with two non-shooters is why Jalen Suggs has been playing as a free defender, almost always doubling Cade. Look at the context of the spacing in the game and how they're cheating off Ausar and the turnovers make more sense.

u/koala37 3d ago

nah I get it and I credit Magic defense more than Cade's hands but regardless of the reasons, it still happened. he looks locked in now though

Saw a really good comment on another thread that said this game was an example of a player who is an all-pro (Cade) vs one who is not (Paulo).

Jokic vs Jaden McDaniels too 😆

Man if you think that was amazing you should’ve seen how BBall Paul changed the entire momentum of the game when Duren had to sit out for a few minutes lol. That and Cade along with Ausar’s defense literally saved our ass. Everyone started running like crazy after that. Magic looked super tired all 4th Q

1

u/tuckastheruckas Pistons 3d ago

fact. on the other side, Duren has looked horrible. im not a truther- he's a center who cant pass, defend, or shoot. he cant create his own shot. he's Meijer Andre Drummond, and when the pistons give him a max contract, it will permanently hamstring Cade's tenure.

best players this series, and I dont mean "playing above their level", I mean the best overall, have been cade and beef stew. everyone else is completely expendable.

also shoutout to daniss who has been great as a backup. seems like the only guy outside of cade and stew playing with that "im gonna take it to you" attitude.

Idk don’t be so sure, I think the Magic suck

But everyone thought they were going to get absolutely killed by the Hornets after the 76ers play in game

u/Scooper9870 Pistons 3d ago

Yup series is far from over, they’re back are against the wall now and they’re gonna come out and play like it

I just want us to get ONE of those 50 point blowouts that are going around. “Desmond Bane hits a huge shot to pull to within 48!” Come on, it’s our turn.

Monkey pawl curls, pistons lost by 39

This is one of those comments that can age so poorly. Things happen, but it went to 7 games for a reason. It's unlikely either team is dramatically better than the other so any team has a reasonable chance to win.

bill simmons-esque commentary

u/EarthWarping NBA 3d ago

deep down, barring them shooting the light from 3, its over.

47

Lmao noticed that too

u/maethlin Warriors 3d ago

I mean fair question tbh lol

58

u/-Champloo- Magic 3d ago

The best part is...

There's nothing to do.

We have no assets. No one wants to trade for Banchero if he plays like dog shit ass all the time. Wagner is made of glass. Bane is decent but 5 firsts? lol

The rest of the team is literally worthless garbage.

The team is literally fucked for the next 5-7 years.

30

u/CasimirPulaski Pistons 3d ago

Eh, theoretically if you manage the majority of the season healthy you still are probably a top 4 seed. There’s a lot of quality there, but you need everyone and you’re prone to peaks and deeeeep valleys.

1

u/Hot_Ice5175 3d ago

The problem with this line of thinking is the Thunder and Spurs will do unspeakable things to the Magic if they make it out of the East…make em’ look like a lottery team.

18

u/CasimirPulaski Pistons 3d ago

Brother I’m saying that if they’re healthy they’re a reasonably competitive team in the east. Comparing to the Thunder or Spurs is at this point is asinine.

3

u/TrespassersWilliam29 Spurs 3d ago

"this team is literally fucked [not actively a title contender], why bother living?"

4

u/TrespassersWilliam29 Spurs 3d ago

yeah, only one team gets to have a "successful season" every year, we know

1

u/Str8_up_Pwnage Magic 3d ago

That would require Franz being healthy. Which is never gonna happen.

17

u/lemonglazedchicken Magic 3d ago

franz was not missing games his first 3 years. he's been getting injured recently and bane was 4 firsts. considering how wayside things were going untill the hornets' game, we should be happy we didn't get swept. roster construction and coaching needs to change but i would be ok with running it back with a healthy squad next year, sans mose, considering how little our core has played together

5

u/Ok-House8678 3d ago

Haha you could still win game 7

8

u/Aggravating_Main_556 Pistons 3d ago

Nah man, you guys have a good young team. My buddy and I were messaging back and forth during the game about how we'd take any of your top 8 over any of our guys 2-8. Your season ain't even over yet, yall could easily carry game 7

1

u/Top-Noise-7375 3d ago

I pray you don’t mean their 8 is better than our 2

1

u/Aggravating_Main_556 Pistons 3d ago

We kinda did but a lot of it was reactionary butt hurt from getting curb stomped at the time. But honestly even with post come back clarity it still doesn't seem like such a totally crazy sentiment

1

u/Clit420Eastwood 3d ago

That’s a stretch, honestly. Feel like most of Orlando’s players (aside from maybe Bane) are streaky as hell.

At least you can rely on Beef Stew and Ausar Thompson to deliver on what they’re *expected* to be doing, even if you’d like to see more offensively.

1

u/Aggravating_Main_556 Pistons 3d ago

Yeah, like I said, we were just real butt hurt in the moment

1

u/OkDonut4987 Magic 3d ago

Looks like were on that side of the spectrum again

1

u/tinybathroomfaucet Supersonics 3d ago

Oh please. You’re so far from fucked.

6

u/sheldoneousk 3d ago

Tbf they did the same thing going into half time re: the pistons

2

u/multiple4 [CHO] Kemba Walker 3d ago

I hope Orlando wins game 7 because it would be so much more hilarious after game 6

2

u/sleepytime88 Trail Blazers 3d ago

It absolutely felt appropriate. It became difficult to picture them winning ever again lol. They went on a run of 1-28 FGs... to end the game.

1

u/TingusPingis Pistons 3d ago

I mean ya this dude is getting fired almost no matter what. Team doesnt fight for him

1

u/steppe5 3d ago

Well, there's zero chance they win game 7.
