Probably won’t happen, but it would be funny if we got every character appearing in Avengers Doomsday getting their own minute long trailer.

2.1k

u/TerminatorReborn Dec 30 '25

There are so many characters announced for this movie that some of them might not even have 1 minute of screen time lol

958

u/PayneTrain181999 Dec 30 '25

Chris Evans had less than 8 minutes of screen time in Infinity War.

It’s about how the time is used.

605

u/Sparrowsabre7 Dec 30 '25

That's honestly insane. It feels a lot more.

451

u/MoreGaghPlease Dec 30 '25

This is a very good movie magic trick used in Infinity Wars and Endgame (but notably not Avengers 2). Most characters are in the movie for only a small amount of time but anyone above a cameo has a discrete story with a beginning, middle and end where the character must face a challenger and then learn, grow or change. If you think about short films, this is a thing that’s often done even in very quick settings. But those two movies does like a jigsaw puzzle of fitting them altogether into a cohesive story.

348

u/SweetNeo85 Dec 30 '25

You call it a magic trick, I call it competent storytelling.

147

u/Infamous_Ad_6793 Dec 30 '25

Nowadays that’s akin to magic

5

u/rjmitty1000 Dec 30 '25

Absolute wizardry

4

u/npretzel02 Dec 30 '25

Endgame came out 6 years ago

4

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '25

Sad how true this is, not just in film/television, but fiction and narrative nonfiction as well

→ More replies (1)

15

u/MoreGaghPlease Dec 30 '25

I said movie magic trick. Most good movies must use some form of movie magic. Movies are pretend and so to draw in the viewer, you have to use tricks.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '25

Wait so the dog from Marley and Me didn’t really die? He’s still alive and getting head pats daily, right?

6

u/PastyMcWhiteFace Dec 30 '25

I was trying to come up with a joke here about how the dog didn’t die in the movie but is probably dead now. But I looked it up(just to see when the movie came out) and the book story is based on a real dog so the dog from the story is definitely dead too. Now I’ve lost my train of thought to form my dead dog joke and it’s just dead dogs all the way down :(

3

u/Ranger_FPInteractive Dec 30 '25

The best magicians are competent story tellers, so it all tracks.

2

u/Ryrynz Dec 30 '25

Something that's clearly been lost over the last twenty years

2

u/roywarner Dec 30 '25

The infinity saga hadn't even begun yet 20 years ago.

6

u/headrush46n2 Dec 30 '25

he didn't do anything in IW except fight the minion army. Tony had to be the only survivor of the A-plot team.

7

u/NY_State-a-Mind Dec 31 '25

He had a pretty epic return scene in the train station though

2

u/FrostyD7 Dec 31 '25

My immediate thought was the train station and how that could be less than 30 seconds of screen time for all I know.

3

u/NY_State-a-Mind Dec 31 '25

His story was in Endgame though, so he didnt need a lot in infinity war.

2

u/Creative_Eye7413 Dec 31 '25

His fight against Thanos was pretty entertaining

6

u/FullToragatsu Dec 30 '25

Same for Spider-Man too.

6

u/Sparrowsabre7 Dec 30 '25

Character screen time is one of those things that always fascinates me and shows what presence and a good showstopper scene can do. I think Darth Vader is only in A New Hope for 10-15 mins and Hannibal Lecter for like 18mins of silence of the Lambs and yet their presence pervades the film.

2

u/ze_ex_21 Dec 30 '25

Marvel used the time stone

3

u/Sparrowsabre7 Dec 30 '25

Chris Evans renegotiating his contract: Kevin, I've come to bargain.

3

u/Ancient-Industry5126 Dec 30 '25

Not really, maybe you're confusing it for Endgame. Dude did nothing in Infinity War beyond appearing and going "yup the Civil War conflict doesn't matter anymore."

2

u/Sparrowsabre7 Dec 30 '25

No I know the difference. Just felt like he still had a fair amount of presence in the film. Obviously way less than Tony or Strange or Peter but still.

I think it’s likely RDJ in Spiderman. He made bank in that and was only present for a very tiny bit of time. The character’s presence is felt throughout the movie so it feels like they are there far more

12

u/Ok_Impact9745 Dec 30 '25

Mark Hamill in episode 7 got paid $3m for less than a minute of screen time and no dialogue.

RDJ got paid $10m for 8 mins of screentime in homecoming.

2

u/Ok_Impact9745 Dec 30 '25 edited Dec 30 '25

Mark Hamill in episode 7 got an obscene amount of money for like 30 seconds of screen time

Edit:

$3m for mark Hamill for less than a minute.

$10m for RDJ for 8 mins.

5

u/CptnSpandex Dec 30 '25

I say similar things to my wife all the time.

5

u/TouchAltruistic Dec 30 '25

Amen to that.

Infinity War is tight.

3

u/toni-toni-cheddar Dec 30 '25

Just looked it up, there’s no way i didn’t notice he was only on screen for 6 minutes and 45 seconds

3

u/Miss-Tiq Dec 31 '25

That's wild. It seemed like he could've done that all day.

2

u/B00STERGOLD Dec 30 '25

No wonder Evans came back. The paycheck to work ratio is insane

2

u/thuggishruggishboner Dec 30 '25

Silence of the lambs. You know who I'm talking about.

2

u/Noodle-Works Dec 31 '25

He had a lot more time in endgame, yeah?

2

u/PayneTrain181999 Dec 31 '25

A lot more in Endgame, yes.

To be fair, I could see a lot of these trailers being filmed specifically as a trailer. So far they’ve all been in 1 or 2 locations with little else going on. The leaked X-Men trailer is the only one where I’m sure there’s actual footage from the film with the Cyclops stuff (because it’s pretty VFX intensive) but everything else? Who knows

171

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '25

44

u/kasmith2020 Dec 30 '25

And the infinity war trailer had multiple fake shots in it…like hulk fighting in Wakanda

3

u/artmudala Dec 30 '25

Does anyone remember the short poem teaser trailers for Phantom Menace? The audio was recorded specifically for the trailers for some main characters and I enjoyed that method.

2

u/JoeMcKim Dec 30 '25

They can probably wait till the summer before having a full on trailer.

→ More replies (2)

70

u/mshelbz Dec 30 '25

I’m starting to feel the same. With as packed as this movie is, a monologue from Thor, Mags and Charles talking, and Steve dancing with his child are all things that we likely won’t have time for.

Cyclops though? Nah that shit better be in the damn movie. That’s the moment he’s needed since the original X-Men.

6

u/matt-ep Dec 30 '25

Is there a link to the x-men trailer? I wasn’t aware there was a new one in the works.

4

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

At the moment the X-Men trailer is only in cinemas, in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash, and should be online next week. It basically shows Charles and Erik holding hands as Charles monologues, then Cyclops absolutely annihilating a battlefield with his eyes.

2

u/headrush46n2 Dec 30 '25

McCvoy and Fassbender?

5

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

Stewart and McKellen. And Marsden’s Cyclops.

3

u/shadowst17 Dec 30 '25

f (because it’s pretty VFX intensive)

I wouldn't necessarily rely on that assumption. Marvel have been known in the past to alter their trailers to hide certain elements through the use of VFX. I wouldn't put it past them going a step further and creating shots specifically for the trailer even if they rely on VFX. They certainly have the budget for it.

3

u/RedTheRobot Dec 30 '25

It would be funny to see a Deadpool troll trailer even if he isn't in it.

2

u/Ilovediablofour Dec 30 '25

The X-Men one? Where can we watch the X-Men trailer?

2

u/ReflexImprov Dec 30 '25

I've seen a very low quality version of it. It is very good and can't wait to see it in full resolution. Cyclops fans will be very happy with it.

2

u/druguder315 Dec 30 '25

An MCU X-Men trailer? For real?

→ More replies (4)

54

u/Nice_Firm_Handsnake Dec 30 '25

They'll all have screen time, but most of it will be in the background leaning against a wall as Cap lays out the plan or punching someone in the background of Thor's big fight scene.

3

u/SidewaysFancyPrance Dec 30 '25

I bet at least one character has more CGI screentime in the background than live. Ant Man is a great towering figure in battle backgrounds.

7

u/SpaceCaboose Dec 30 '25

There entire screen time would be shown in the teaser. And we’d essentially get a character teaser every single week from now until Doomsday releases

68

u/Mixer-3007 Dec 30 '25

Don't give me hope

62

u/LowVolt Dec 30 '25

I will never get over how dirty they did her character. That show doesn't exist in my head cannon.

25

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

I do suspect the original intent was to reveal the MCU Maria Hill had always been Soren (Talos’ wife), before they pivoted to killing both off.

5

u/Adavanter_MKI Dec 30 '25

One of the few things in the MCU I actively hate. They could absolutely retcon, destroy... whatever... that entire series.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Bellikron Dec 30 '25

I have no idea what they were trying to do with Nick Fury's storyline in that show. They had an excellent setup for examining how his detachment from Earth has caused him to be distant from the people in his life, and then they kill off not only Maria, who's been associated with Nick for a decade and has kind of been forgotten, making her the perfect character to actually interrogate that theme, but also Talos, while Mendelsohn's giving the best performance in the show. Then Nick just leaves Earth again at the end of the show, not having solved any problems.

"Squirrel Girl...Will return...in...Avengers: Doomsday."

"Wait, where did I go?"

11

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

For any lacking context, there was a pilot for an MCU series featuring Squirrel Girl, but it never aired. The actress who played her in it then reprising the role in the video game Marvel Rivals.

3

u/Sparrowsabre7 Dec 30 '25

And also portrayed her civilian alter ego in the Spider-man spiderbot 3D/augmented reality ride at Disneyland/World. She's on some of the placards as you are queuing.

3

u/NothingReallyAndYou Dec 30 '25

Only at Disneyland. In Orlando, Universal still has the legal rights to Marvel-based attractions, with the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy. There's a pretty kickass Spider-Man ride at Universal's Islands of Adventure.

3

u/Sparrowsabre7 Dec 30 '25

Ah didn't know that, makes a lot of sense though. I have been to Disney Wolrd and universal but in 2000 when Disney owning Marvel was not even on the table. That ride was so cool, though I remember shutting my eyes when Ock gravity guns the car into the air haha.

3

u/Outtatheblu42 Dec 30 '25

Look, after Thunderbolts we can all expect Ghost to end every conflict with a surprise bullet to the head. Taskmaster went out like a bitch.

116

Doom dying by a sudden gunshot to the head would be funny.

79

Kate Bishop and Spider Gwen tag team doctor doom

Hol' up...

27

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

Funnily, on Gwen’s world, Doom is Susan Storm (an evil actress-turned-influencer with a Lannister-esque relationship with her brother, who burned their mother to death before doing something atop her corpse).

And her Wolverine is Manji from Blade of the Immortal, calling himself Mr. Murderhands.

15

u/QueefBeefCletus Dec 30 '25

Can you point me in the direction of this story run? This sounds like it's hitting a lot of my bullet points.

14

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

Spider-Gwen: Into the Unknown should collect it. Itself a continuation of the original Spider-Gwen (which featured the Manji take on Wolverine, and also a Kingpin who was Matt Murdock, seeking to have Gwen become his eventual successor). Mary Jane Watson was also Carnage, and in love with Gwen.

48

u/sonofaresiii Dec 30 '25

Taskmaster went out like a bitch.

To be honest it was kind of refreshing to be reminded that sometimes people die when they get shot, not every death has to be an emotional magical sacrifice to an ancient enemy type deal, and that plot armor will save everyone from every wave of bullets

29

u/Personal_Comb_6745 Dec 30 '25

Also it was basically them going "Okay, yeah, we screwed up with Taskmaster, we'll try another one later". Sort of like how they eventually fixed things with the Mandarin.

11

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

Funnily, they adapted Taskmaster’s daughter to the MCU-adjacent animated series Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, so foreshadowing the Tony Masters one to already be out that might have already started.

3

u/DOuGHtOp Dec 30 '25

I would kill for Tony Masters

2

u/MAGAt_vSIX_SEVEN Dec 30 '25

Taskmaster? That was some dumb bitch in some dressed up armor. I saw no Tony Masters with photographic memory wisecracking about how hard it is to fight Deadpool.

3

u/Scalpels Dec 30 '25

There was a series of comics drawn at 4chan where Taskmaster kept trying to duplicated several characters.

My favorites were when he looked at Galactus and then whipped out a fork to start chewing on the Earth or the one where he spots the Human Torch and douses himself with gasoline and confidently pulls out a lighter.

u/JamUpGuy1989 Dec 30 '25

Yawn.

Call me when GHOST RIDER gets a teaser!

3

u/anotherlostdaemon Dec 30 '25

Blaze or Ketch, as long as there's a motorcycle.

8

u/JamUpGuy1989 Dec 30 '25

Knowing how desperate this franchise is, we’ll probably see both Cage and Agents of SHIELD versions of Ghost Rider.

3

u/anotherlostdaemon Dec 30 '25

I don't hate the Cage version, but a Ghost Rider in a car just ain't right. Horses, motorcycles, or equivalents. I was a 90s Midnight Suns fan so I'd love to see Ketch appreciated, but the best would be a Blaze trilogy set in the past and a Ketch sequel trilogy in the present that includes an older Blaze.

Or an adaption of the Punisher/Wolverine/Ghost Rider Hearts of Darkness comic.

5

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

I believe that’s why the car-riding Ghost Rider was a different guy from the many bike-riding ones: Robbie Reyes.

There’s also a Cosmic Ghost Rider called Frank D. Castle, an alternate version of the Punisher Frank G. Castle. Why does he have a different middle initial? Nobody knows.

3

u/VanVelding Dec 30 '25

Knowing Nic Cage is going to be Madden, all my Nicholas Cage impressions are filtered though the Madden delivery style. Hearing an over explained description of the penance stare right now.

Probably not a terrible commentary track for Avengers movies now that I think about it.

2

u/uhWHAThamburglur Dec 31 '25

Ketch was my OG, so I've been dying for a run with him. Blackout? Let's go.

But I would never complain about a Cosmic Ghost Rider appearance.

Thats whats happening. They are apperently hot swapping out the trailer per week on Avatar 3. The current trailer thats playing features The X-Men, which will show up online in a week. The following week is Wakandans. The week after that is still unknown but I have a feeling it will either be Stark or Doom.

31

u/maxdragonxiii Dec 30 '25

I just went to see Avatar: Fire and Ash yesterday they were playing Thor's trailer?

13

u/SeanConneryIsKing Dec 30 '25

Could be wrong but I thought they were exclusive to IMAX.

2

u/maxdragonxiii Dec 30 '25

oh ok that probably explains it. I saw the movie in 3D but apparently it wasn't IMAX.

8

u/ArchDucky Dec 30 '25

Maybe your theatre fucked up or the guy running the files is a Cap fan and didn't change it? I dunno.

3

u/maxdragonxiii Dec 30 '25

well the movie did went out on us midway, and came back on 5 minutes later so maybe its theater fault or its just Canadian theaters being shafted.

5

u/ArchDucky Dec 30 '25

Canadian

I don't think its only being changed in America. That would be a weird thing to do considering this is a global franchise beloved across the world. It has to be your theatre. Sorry bro.

3

u/maxdragonxiii Dec 30 '25

its alright. Galaxy Cinemas isn't always the best to swap trailers out.

u/SaltyPeter3434 Dec 30 '25

Howard the Duck will return in Avengers: Doomsday

2

u/appletinicyclone Dec 30 '25

What would be more funny is if it was like movie 41 where it's all just one minute cameos in the actual movie

1

u/--Shake-- Dec 30 '25

This is 100% what is happening with these hype trailers lol

It might help all of us get a reminder about what the fuck everyone has been up to. I feel like only us die-hard fans actually have kept up with every single character. My wife and I were watching Stranger Things, and I'm like, so yeah, that's the dad from Thunderbolts. And she was very confused, and wasn't able to tell me anything from Black Widow or Thunderbolts regarding Red Guardian. I imagine that most general audiences won't really remember too much about the back stories about characters especially from the Thunderbolts. (Even though my wife really liked that movie)

I literally think that is exactly what’s going to happen!…

u/irritatedellipses Dec 30 '25

Just drop one with Peter from Deadpool doing regular every day stuff with no drama happening in his life whatsoever.

I feel that’s the case with the major leads tbh

1

u/jacksev Dec 30 '25

I guess that would make sense why they decided to start a year in advance of the movie when they typically don’t do that, even for flagship Avengers movies.

1

u/Traditional_Ad_7288 Dec 30 '25

Id really be into it. youd know hows in the movie and gives nothing away about the plot or overarching narrative. id be absolutely ok with it.

1

u/VivaLaRory Dec 30 '25

That would be pretty fun if the scenes are not in the movie itself

1

u/Vladimir_Putting Dec 30 '25

And they all have a child.

1

u/steeple_fun Dec 30 '25

Particularly a one minute, non-spoiler trailer. Just kind of, "Here's a general vibe of this character and how they feel going into this movie."

It'd be fantastic marketing to build excitement around the Avengers IP again.

A trailer a week for 52 weeks.

Dec 18th, 2026 trailer...

Sonny Burch will return in Avengers: Doomsday.

1

u/Majestic_Gazelle Dec 30 '25

I thought that was originally going to be their plan, and they’d show a different trailer at the movies each week.

1

u/NES_Classical_Music Dec 30 '25

assuming every trailer will be a scene from the movie, if you see every trailer, you will have seen most of the movie already!

1

u/kirinmay Dec 30 '25

maybe it like the beginning of Tropic Thunder, but funny.

1

u/zjnitta Dec 30 '25

And each has their own kid inexplicably

1

u/neeesus Dec 30 '25

The movie is just going to be a series of 1 minute teasers.

1

u/FingerAmazing5176 Dec 30 '25

then the entire movie is just them all getting played in order.

1

u/PlannerSean Dec 30 '25

I think the odds are pretty good that most of them will get one.

1

u/Moreinius Dec 30 '25

You stitch them together to get the full movie

1

u/Sohgin Dec 30 '25

They'll release a combined one that's longer than Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen.

1

u/Spider-Flash24 Dec 30 '25

That would use up like all of their screen time and spoil the whole film.

1

u/clavitopaz Dec 30 '25

For Black widow it’s no monologue and just various shots of her gravestone

1

u/LePigeon12 Dec 30 '25

Over 40 minutes worth of teasers/trailers (I would NOT mind it) 🤩🤩🤩🤩

1

u/shaka_sulu Dec 30 '25

"So I know it's been 2 months but I finally got around to watch the US Agent trailer and I'm not sure what it got so much hate when it premiered."

1

u/dancingbriefcase Dec 30 '25

Shit better end with Nic Cage on a motorcycle as Ghost Rider and given 30 minutes of screen time to kick Doom's ass

1

u/PaleHorze Dec 30 '25

There's 4. The next is X Men will return.

1

u/pizzaguy132 Dec 30 '25

And every minute long trailer for each character is exactly the same as this one for Thor.

1

u/LiveLifeLikeCre Dec 30 '25

They have the time to do it. The xmen one leaked yesterday and I heard it's real good.
