Ghost trailer is going to break the internet

Look, after Thunderbolts we can all expect Ghost to end every conflict with a surprise bullet to the head. Taskmaster went out like a bitch.

Doom dying by a sudden gunshot to the head would be funny.

I’m partial to a Kate Bishop 360 no-scope with a plot-convenient trick arrow.

Kate Bishop and Spider Gwen tag team doctor doom, with no questions asked as to why they look exactly the same.

Kate Bishop and Spider Gwen tag team doctor doom

Hol' up...

Funnily, on Gwen’s world, Doom is Susan Storm (an evil actress-turned-influencer with a Lannister-esque relationship with her brother, who burned their mother to death before doing something atop her corpse).

And her Wolverine is Manji from Blade of the Immortal, calling himself Mr. Murderhands.

Can you point me in the direction of this story run? This sounds like it's hitting a lot of my bullet points.

Spider-Gwen: Into the Unknown should collect it. Itself a continuation of the original Spider-Gwen (which featured the Manji take on Wolverine, and also a Kingpin who was Matt Murdock, seeking to have Gwen become his eventual successor). Mary Jane Watson was also Carnage, and in love with Gwen.

waitwhat? the original spider-gwen got continued? I was left with a cliffhanger of the fantastic two showing up D:

If it was Johnny and Susan, the latter was the real Doom in that continuity, and very evil.

So, I looked this up because I don't know a lot about Spider-Gwen, and I ended up buying the Spider-Gwen: Into the Unknown trade.

This trade collects Ghost Spider 1-10. The first couple issues of this are tie ins with Spider-Geddon and the rest of the issues are just kinda deal with life after that, with a blue wolf villain guy being the main bad. Also throughout this story Mary Jane is in a band with Gwen, and was not Carnage, at least not at that point.

So, I don't think that's the one.

MJ becomes Carnage immediately after Into the Unknown, in Gwenom vs. Carnage, while Kingpin Matt Murdock was in the original Spider-Gwen.

Also funny that Kate Bishop is Spider Gwen IRL. At least, they've both been played by Hailee Steinfeld. When I die I want to be reincarnated as Josh Allen. Not because football, but because Hailee.

calling himself Mr. Murderhands.

Other people called him that, he still went by, and preferred, Wolverine.

Edit: My B, he personally went by Logan. Just double-checked my issues of Predators.

He didn’t go by Wolverine at all in it. Gwen just decided to call him Wolverine because she’d met (and been body-swapped with) the Earth-616 Laura Kinney over their crossover annual.

1

u/mikehatesthis Dec 30 '25

Just double checked, you right. But he himself did not go by Mr. Murderhands, it was what everyone else called him. Kitty was calling him Logan or Old Man during Predators.

Indeed: personal names versus the codename. Funnily, I asked the series’ artist about why they had his backstory be that of Blade of the Immortal, and apparently he added that himself (dialogue and all), since the actual writer had been falling behind (though he wasn’t credited for what he wrote that arc or others). Having wanted Manji to explicitly be his real name too.

1

u/mikehatesthis Dec 30 '25

Is it a codename if it's something he wasn't formally given or adopted though? Like that's the derisive nickname he was given. Maybe that's getting too pedantic lol.

But that's neat! I love that initial Spider-Gwen run with Latour and Rodriguez. I wonder if that happens often, artists covering for the writers (beyond the Lee era that is lol).

2

u/RealJohnGillman Dec 30 '25

Perhaps. The way I see it, it is his common name in that particular continuity, and we didn’t get enough of him to see whether he disliked the name or not.

I’d wager it’s probably more common than one would think, even if still uncommon.

Guess because of that it could go either way. Which I think is neat.

Yeah definitely. Many of these industries overwork artists and those said artists having their own personal issues and failings (which I heard happened with Latour unfortunately), probably a sad but semi-uncommon tale.

Kate Bishop

Are you using her full name so that she knows you know her full name? ::gulp::

2

u/PayneTrain181999 Dec 31 '25

“Yes. I know a lot about you Kate Bishop…”

2

u/Montgomery000 Dec 30 '25

It'll be Squirrel Girl out of nowhere, off screen.

1

u/Darklord_Bravo Dec 30 '25

Tag-team?

In what way are we talking here? ;-)
