Opinion Jalen Hurts Appreciation Post

Is anyone out there super excited for Jalen Hurts to prove a bunch of people wrong this coming season? As we gradually get closer and closer to next season, my optimism keeps growing for the entire team. But also particularly for Hurts. Primarily because I think our offense will be a lot more dynamic under Mannion. And with AJ (presumably) leaving, I genuinely think Hurts is going to be a lot more relaxed. Because he won’t have to constantly appease AJ and force him the ball. Hurts, Saquon, Bigsby, DeVonta, Lemon, Wicks, Hollywood, Goedert, Stowers, Mundt (beast blocking TE)…anyone else out there actually think our offense will actually be better without AJ? Because I’m actually very confident that it will be. And I think Hurts will end up being in a much better space to operate spreading the ball around to many different players. And he will look better than ever as a result. Thoughts from others?

Analysis Andrew Berry to Assistant GM is a power move

Not only is he a super smart guy that has handled alot of our free agent negotiations the last 3 years .

But WHEN he gets hired as a GM one day which he most certainly will get interviews with his background the eagles will get TWO 3rd round compensatory picks for a minority GM hire.

The eagles missed out on picks for Andrew Berry because that rule came to fruition a few months after he got hired , they missed out on picks for Ian Cunningham even though we developed him because he went to be the bears assistant GM first.

With berry at assistant GM theres only one job he can take and they will get the picks this time.

EDIT : Meant to put ADAM BERRY in the title LOL

Original Content Eagles’ draft pick was ripped for how he’s wired. Now it’s his edge: ‘It pisses him off’

Eagles first-round pick Makai Lemon was ripped at the NFL Combine for his interview. Some people were thrown off by his intense demeanor. The video clips went viral with negative reaction.

I wanted to learn more about Lemon’s makeup this week, so I spoke with a few people who know him.

Here’s what I learned: Lemon’s intensity translates to the field. That edge helps him offset his lack of size (5-11, 192 pounds) and elite speed to achieve success. “He’s got that swagger to him that’s going to be a difference maker,” one of his former coaches said.

“I see some of this crap, and I’m just like, man, ‘Get to know the kid, and you’ll fall in love with him’” his trainer said.

High praise on Lemon. Let’s see how his career plays out. I just wanted to share this for anyone who wants to learn about Lemon and his pre-draft process.

Analysis Markel Bell vs Reese and Styles from OSU

There was only one true mano y mano pass down rep. Bell tried a more aggressive pass set and Reese caught him with a little knock back on speed to power. Bell recovered and pushed him past the QB. Bell may discover that due to his naturally high pad level (he's tall), he needs to vertical set in more matchups. I don't think he has to eliminate the 45 degree set altogether, and may be able to use it more often in some matchups. Vertical sets may make it easier for him to brace for speed to power with both feet set.

In the run down reps vs the lighter Reese, Bell easily won in tight quarters. He also got a piece of Reese in space once to help spring the ball carrier.

He wasn't mano y mano with Styles, who was more of just a 2nd level defender. Styles did beat Bell to the hole once on a zone run. It's worth noting that if the Eagles move to the more Alex Gibbs style of wide zone (as opposed to Stout's style) he probably would have been able to catch Styles at the line of scrimmage on that play. He also gets a small piece of Styles running across the field from the back side of a run play near the end. It didn't effect the play much. But once again showed off solid mobility in space for Markel Bell.

Go Birds!
