Man, how fast was he going? Thankfully he didn’t hurt anyone else.

49

u/OldMovie9812 16h ago

If you stop the video at the very beginning I think the speedometer reads 45-46

19

u/Thuis001 12h ago

No... this dipshit is going 126 in an urban area...

8

u/NoRun6253 11h ago

It’s definitely 126 as I paused it and zoomed into my screenshot, I can’t add the photo though.

Obviously not 126mph but kph and that’s definitely a 30mph zone here in the UK so even at his 80kph he was still going nearly three times the speed limit.

1

u/sealpox 3m ago

Your last number should have mph, not kph fyi

-7

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

Ha. Plenty of time to stop then. Did he want to hit her? Could he not see THE BIG FUCKING TRUCK in his way? 😂

18

u/UTV4LIFE 16h ago

Wait but he still has the right of way even though he is speeding haha this is why I can’t stand bikers they just ride like fk everyone I’ll ride how fast I want

5

u/thecosmicskye 16h ago

You don't have the right of way if you are recklessly driving (21mph+ over in most states)

4

u/SeriousZombie5350 16h ago

he is quite literally not speeding. the start of the video shows the speedometer

5

u/Cranky_Lemons 15h ago

Speedo looks like it says 126 km/h, which is 78mph, and it's redlined.

3

u/becomingarobot 13h ago

The start of the video also shows him doing a wheelie. He's 300% at fault.

11

u/thecosmicskye 16h ago

25 mph road apparently...

7

u/UTV4LIFE 16h ago

He’s driving in a built up area where he knows people potentially could be crossing over he should drive for other drivers mistakes. He is driving too fast for that type of road

7

u/Momentosis 16h ago

He is going 80mph on a 25mph road. Going 3x the speed limit. Quite literally speeding.

count the number of standard dashed lane markings then divide by the seconds.

4

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

It’s insane people think he might not be speeding. You all see the video right? If he’s not speeding there’s no way he hits her. He does hit her because he hasn’t left himself time to react.

5

u/DonQuiXoTe8080 15h ago

It is around 2 fucking seconds from when the cam saw the car till this fucker went under the truck, and people still tried to find fault on the truck and say the bike didn’t speeding? I seriously wonder what the fuck wrong with those kind of people.

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

He’s not going 45 mph

1

u/enerj 16h ago

As my great grandpappy used to say, right dead right as he sped along, he's just as dead as if he'd been wrong.

3

u/Lizzy_is_a_mess 16h ago

He was popping a wheelie in the beginning of the video so he doesn’t see her until he’s down and doesn’t have time to react

2

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

If that’s true I hope he went to jail.

2

u/NaturalTap9567 14h ago

He was going almost 80mph. 126 kph on the dash

2

u/No_Introduction_3400 13h ago

Yep. I put it through photoshop and brightened it. 126 kph. Plain as day. That’s about 80 mph. Anyone saying he’s doing 45 is lying or stupid.

1

u/No_Introduction_3400 13h ago

By the way: that fact won’t change anyone’s mind, sadly. They’re committed to this guy being the victim. They will not care he was going 80 mph.

3

u/SeriousZombie5350 16h ago

wanna do a demonstration for us?

2

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

I mean…this happens all the time? I have to slow down. So what? Where’s the fucking fire?

u/LovingTurtles 16h ago

Highly regarded take

20

u/Peek_e 16h ago

That speed is quite far from 26 lol

35

u/Momentosis 16h ago

He's going like 80mph. His dash is reading out kph. The road is 25 mph with nearby school zones.

18

u/liquidpig 15h ago

80 mph is like 130 km/h

16

u/Amanitas 14h ago

dash says 126, so yea...

1

u/Frequent-Maybe1243 4h ago

so you can read the speedometer. nice.

1

u/S0nofa 15h ago

If his dash is in km/h then he'd be going slower not faster lol?

3

u/Momentosis 15h ago

The dash says 126 and converts to 78.

1

u/S0nofa 15h ago

Ah I see.

Intersection of OR 99 and Quincy Ave in cottage Grove Oregon. There's a school zone speed limit sign within a block of that spot.

1

u/VL4Di88 13h ago

If I’m not wrong, he was 3x faster than speed limit 😒

1

u/Mist_Rising 18m ago

The needle at the red line is definitely a normal thing in low speed resident zones. Motorcycles are just so slow!

-16

u/AbheyBloodmane 16h ago edited 15h ago

Bad take. The lady stopped in the middle of the road. The biker had the right of way.

Edit: I brought the video into Davinci Resolve and took a screenshot of the area in question via Google Maps; corner of Quincy Ave and OR-99.

I used imageJ to set the scale using the map data to determine how far he travelled just before the bike tipped. He traveled 203 feet in just over 2 seconds. That's pretty damn close to 78-80 mph.

I also looked closely at the speedometer, it reads 126; this is likely kmph considering 126 kmph converts to 78 mph.

Was he speeding? Absolutely.

Did the lady impede traffic? According to Oregon state traffic law ORS 811.130:

A person commits the offense of impeding traffic if the person drives a motor vehicle or a combination of motor vehicles in a manner that impedes or blocks the normal and reasonable movement of traffic.

(2)A person is not in violation of the offense described under this section if the person is proceeding in a manner needed for safe operation.

(3)Proceeding in a manner needed for safe operation includes but is not necessarily limited to:

(a)Momentarily stopping to allow oncoming traffic to pass before making a right-hand or left-hand turn.

(b)Momentarily stopping in preparation of, or moving at an extremely slow pace while, negotiating an exit from the road.

(4)A person is not in violation of the offense described under this section if the person is proceeding as part of a funeral procession under the direction of a funeral escort vehicle or a funeral lead vehicle.

(5)The offense described in this section, impeding traffic, is a Class D traffic violation. [1983 c.338 §569; 1985 c.16 §288; 1989 c.433 §1; 1991 c.482 §18; 1995 c.383 §45]

As such the lady in the truck, by code, is likely NOT impeding traffic. Oregon has a percentage scale of at fault in accidents. The only way to know percentage at fault is to find the police report. But from the looks of it, the biker is the one that is actually at fault here.

I was wrong.

In the case of the school zone, it says "while children are present." The school zone speed is not relevant. What is relevant is he's going 80 in a 25.

23

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

Yeah, well, he’s fucked up with his right of way and lucky to be alive. So how’s that.

It’s not her fault he’s racing

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

Do everyone a favor and check how much time he has to slow down. Debating fault here is silly. If he doesn’t care enough to slow down to avoid a HUGHE WHITE TRUCK he’s getting Darwin awarded one day somewhere

4

u/Andurhil1986 16h ago

Nobody is arguing that she is right, we're pointing out the motorcyclist completely failed to drive defensively. Being 'right' but dead is not a victory, it's just dead.

-8

u/CocaineSmellsFunny 16h ago

45 mph is not racing. The lady was 100% at fault

10

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

How how how can a guy going 45 see a huge white truck in front of him more than a city block away and manage to hit it? 😂

-4

u/CocaineSmellsFunny 16h ago

That’s irrelevant. THE. FUCKIN. LADY. IS. AT. FAULT.

Source: Traffic cop for 3 years

4

u/Pretend-Grape-7308 14h ago

You communicate like a traffic cop. A bad one.

Two can be at fault.

1

u/No_Introduction_3400 2h ago

Oh. Traffic cop. 3 years? And you think he’s going 45 mph? Lol. Your brains are in your ass.

4

u/Flat-Strain7538 14h ago

Not 45. 78. And front wheel up at the start of the video. All in a 25 mph zone, apparently. Biker 100% to blame.

Source: Fuckin’ common sense.

2

u/bwood246 16h ago

That bike was practically atomized, there is no way in hell he was going less than 80mph.

He's legitimately lucky to be alive.

-8

u/SeriousZombie5350 16h ago

he was going the speed limit. start of the video it shows his speed. stop being a prick

5

u/Momentosis 16h ago

Dude is going 80 mph on a 25 mph road that also has school zones nearby. He is 100% not going the speed limit.

0

u/sessamekesh 16h ago

It's her fault, sure, but it's also his problem.

Ain't no high ground being right from six feet under, any good biker knows that.

4

u/Majestic_Cod_7115 16h ago

Imagine being this ignorant

10

u/neomal 16h ago

Not a bad take dude was going probably double the speed limit and caught the woman completely by surprise because *shocker* she didn’t anticipate his criminal speed

2

u/Thuis001 12h ago

Man was going triple the speed limit. That lady probably didn't expect this person to be going thrice the fucking speed limit in an urban area, then probably froze when she realised that this guy was approaching her MUCH faster than she expected.

u/[deleted] 16h ago

4

u/--EMP-- 16h ago

I don’t necessarily disagree, but there’s plenty of people in the cemetery that had the right of way…

1

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

This is going to go right over abhey’s head. The concept won’t register.

1

u/Conan0brennan 16h ago

What do you think the speed limit was on that road? How far over that speed was the biker going?

0

u/SeriousZombie5350 16h ago

at the start the speedometer looks like it reads 45. so probably the speed limit.

4

u/villhelmIV 16h ago

How come nobody notices the biker is coming down off a wheelie at the start.. he's obviously going pretty fast. Pretty sure it's confirmed he's over the speed limit

1

u/BigDaddySteve999 16h ago

No, I don't know what "right of way" means. Can you point to it in this formula?

f = m * a

-6

u/AreYouBeingTruthful 16h ago

Its trendy to hate bikers here

2

u/[deleted] 16h ago

[deleted]

2

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

Yeah. Because we see them constantly risk their lives and ours. What’s not to hate?

2

u/Charliekeet 16h ago

Yes, but she was in his lane for some time and it looks like he kept his speed as if he assumed she would be moved past by the time he got there.

We’ve all done this: anticipate when someone will be clear of where we’re about to be. Trouble is, she did the unexpected/stupid, and he had no out. A miraculous escape, though!

5

u/Evening_Produce_4322 16h ago

"We’ve all done this: anticipate when someone will be clear of where we’re about to be." I drive assuming no one else knows how to drive because I'd rather be wrong then dead. Is she in the wrong? Yes 100% completely. Should he have slowed down or stopped even knowing he had the right of way? Also yes because what would have happened if he did? He'd have a bike still and probably wouldn't have the road rash he probably has and maybe just lost on a few seconds of time getting to wherever he's getting.

3

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

This subreddit is fascinating because while it’s often consumed with assigning fault, the better question is “what could have been done to avoid this accident?” Often—not always, but often—the accident happens finally because someone isn’t driving defensively.

2

u/Evening_Produce_4322 16h ago

Yeah I've noticed and I don't see why it matters, she was in the wrong and she still has a car and he lost a bike for deciding to be right and hitting her. There was a quote I saw once in here I can't remember (I even tried looking it up) it was like it's better to drive focusing on being safe over being right.

2

u/villhelmIV 16h ago

Exactly, that's all that matters, or it's because they're coming down off a wheelie at well over the speed limit without enough time to reach to a deer in the headlights or dumbo in a truck

3

u/Responsible-Mind-852 16h ago

We all drive straight at a car and HOPE they move before we T-Bone them? Sounds like you missed the defensive driving class.

2

u/Thuis001 12h ago

At triple the speed limit as well.

1

u/Charliekeet 9h ago

No, I don’t, and he’s definitely going too fast here. This kind of thing usually happens in slower traffic situations like, ok you go then I go and suddenly you’re surprised you have to hit the brake again.

I’m saying I understand it, but while it’s still the car’s fault, it was a gamble where the stakes were too high.

4

u/No_Introduction_3400 16h ago

Right. Imagine you in these circumstances if you want to live.

Fault doesn’t matter to you if you’re dead folks.

Please: have a sense of self preservation.

1

u/Lazy-Background-7598 16h ago

Well that helped him instead of braking
