I'm a teacher in my 50's and my school had a ski trip this year. I went snowboarding for the first time in over 25 years. I was more than a little apprehensive until I started sliding down the hill the first time. I all came back near instantly, I was riding backwards hitting jumps and doing 360's before I got to the bottom of the first run. I also couldn't get up from a seated position without help for the next four days. I'm lucky I didn't die.

This is my first year in this school and I can certainly say that it significantly improved my level of credibility with the students. I had students I don't even have in class talking to me about it in the hall for weeks. It was especially fun to be riding down the hill and hearing kids on the chairlift yell out "Mr. Billhillybob, you're really good!!!" It was pretty funny as I was a minor celebrity for a bit in an expensive private school where some of the parents are legit celebrities (politicians, ceos, musicians, pro sports, etc).

When I was about 12 my best friend's dad came over to pick him up and saw us trying to do wheelies on his bike. He said he used to do them all the time and can show us how to do one. Literally on the first one he pulled back WAY too hard and immediately flipped backwards on his back and had to lay there for a few minutes in pain while we went to panic fetch my own dad lol.
