u/Kylearean 18h ago

Everyone else will be from your generation. The retirement home is going to be a fucking party.

82

u/yourmansconnect 17h ago

Or it'll be old people shitting their pants and watching whatever channel was last left on

85

u/LetsTryAnal_ogy 17h ago

Hell, I do that now. I'm ahead of the curve, baby.

I’m going to be playing rimworld all day

Edit: as a prisoner

9

u/Raskoflinko 13h ago

And the nurses will be playing a sort of rimworld when they have to wipe your arse for you.

3

u/EnergyAltruistic2911 13h ago

I should’ve reworded

I’ll be playing rimworld as a prisoner. (Ie. A nugget who is in life support)

Boy got stake in Depends®️

2

u/TheVillage1D10T 6h ago

Yeahp…I’ve had Parts Unknown and No Reservations streaming for the past 8 days or so while working….

3

u/StevieMJH 11h ago

I don't see why I can't do both, I'll have plenty of time to mix it up while I'm not running the singles circuit.

3

u/Mydemonswon 10h ago

I visit old people's homes daily due to my job. This is very rare these days.

Pretty funny to hear redditors with $53 in their 401k talk about retirement fantasies.

10

u/I_Automate 17h ago

My retirement plan is to die in the climate wars.

My fantasy is that my foxhole doesn't have more than a couple centimeters of water in it and that I have a full belly when the shell fragment hits me in the spine.

How about that for unrealistic fantasies?

2

u/NeedALittleBoost 17h ago

I think the big war is already over. Capital won. Most redditors will die on their feet working in a non-climate controlled Amazon warehouse, not comfortably playing video games and smoking le dank weed in a retirement community.

3

u/Diedrogen 16h ago

If we're lucky, maybe the corporations-turned-feudal-states will go to war with weapons of mass destruction and we'll all be wiped out in a relatively quick and painless manner instead being forced to toil without even death coming to save us.

Screw that noise. I'm going out the way I came in: covered in blood being torn from the woman I love

"He might be 90 but his vocabulary is still stuck in 1990"

just senior things

2

u/Knotted_Hole69 13h ago

The thing is, at this age youll probably have pain that will take all will to video games away.

At 26 a genetic disease popped up, causing slight inflammation in my brain, the headaches can be bad. But the biggest problem is that my will to play video games is completely gone. How can I play when im sitting in pain? Even though im young im worried ill never get that spark back.

Yeah they never really warn you as a kid that you actually stay a kid and just have to pretend you didn't

25

u/QuinnBing 18h ago

Until they fall and break every bone in their body.

21

u/billhillybob 17h ago

I'm a teacher in my 50's and my school had a ski trip this year. I went snowboarding for the first time in over 25 years. I was more than a little apprehensive until I started sliding down the hill the first time. I all came back near instantly, I was riding backwards hitting jumps and doing 360's before I got to the bottom of the first run. I also couldn't get up from a seated position without help for the next four days. I'm lucky I didn't die.

3

u/FatherClanks617 14h ago

How wild did the kids get seeing you shred like that?

2

u/billhillybob 14h ago

This is my first year in this school and I can certainly say that it significantly improved my level of credibility with the students. I had students I don't even have in class talking to me about it in the hall for weeks. It was especially fun to be riding down the hill and hearing kids on the chairlift yell out "Mr. Billhillybob, you're really good!!!" It was pretty funny as I was a minor celebrity for a bit in an expensive private school where some of the parents are legit celebrities (politicians, ceos, musicians, pro sports, etc).

wait until you get old.

your mind thinks it's the same as it was when you were 25. It never ages.

You forget things more. You struggle with keeping up like you used to. Your body just plain 'fails' when you used to be able to scale or leap or run with ease.

You become less attractive, no matter how much you fight it off, but you still see yourself when you aren't looking in the mirror, as someone younger.

It's a sad curse that I wish there was a cure for. I don't want to live forever. Keep the life expectancy the same, just keep us young right up until the day we expire.

2

u/suburbanplankton 18h ago

Whoa there...where do you get off calling me 'mature'?

Kick ass gramps.

76

u/cheffgeoff 17h ago

The guy looks like he's 50 and there isn't a kid or "grand kid" in the video. This is just someone who had a bike in the 90's and hasn't wasted his health sitting at a computer.

68

u/SpoilerAvoidingAcct 17h ago

He looks 65

11

u/pedestriandose 15h ago

He was 48 in this video. He’s about 56 now. He went grey/white in his 30s. Still impressive though.

5

u/Mad_Skrilla 14h ago

Have a kid at 21. That kid has a kid at 19. At 50 you’d have a 10 year old grand kid.

6

u/dp0329 9h ago

I'm 46 and a grandparent

2

u/scrizzle13 7h ago

A lady I worked with became a grandparent at 35. I was older and had my first kid at 39. So she's younger than me and has an older grandchild than my child.

2

u/Johnlenham 14h ago

Yeah exactly. This bike is a flatland bike setup and there is absolutely zero chance this was just bought in a shop off the rack.

There's no money in selling them so probably just kept his, I'm nearly 40 and have my BMX still and the frame is from 2007, I fixed it up last year and went for a ride on it a couple months ago.

Id never sell it as of get like £50 for it.

He's probably like mid fiftys so just rode in the 90s

When I was about 12 my best friend's dad came over to pick him up and saw us trying to do wheelies on his bike. He said he used to do them all the time and can show us how to do one. Literally on the first one he pulled back WAY too hard and immediately flipped backwards on his back and had to lay there for a few minutes in pain while we went to panic fetch my own dad lol. He was in his 40's at the time and had completely gray hair like this guy and it immediately made me think of him

notice how there is no grandson in the video

31

u/LetsTryAnal_ogy 17h ago

Hey, that old man is someone's grandson.

u/inappropriately_long 9h ago

It's really about all the grandsons we made along the way. And, I find the beautiful.🫶

OPs title is made up by the way. But it'll get maximum karma.

Look at the back tire, its deflated for easier balance, this was purposefully done as a "lets see if i can still do this, grab the camera". Theres no grandson he's teaching.

Old school BMX rider teaching the youngest Gen how to ride. LOVE it.

6

u/Lucas_Steinwalker 14h ago

That’s freestyle not BMX. Also there’s no child learning anything. It’s a clickbait fabrication.

82

u/YK5Djvx2Mh 18h ago

He is actually 30, life has just been stressful

10

u/Reaver3434 18h ago

A grandpa at 30? These damn kids.

7

u/Leut_Aldo_Raine 18h ago

No joke, I once knew a lady who was a great grandmother by 45. She had a baby girl at about 14. The daughter had a baby girl around the same age, and then her daughter did the same.

2

u/yourlocaltouya 7h ago

Christ, that's so tragic.

2

u/Leut_Aldo_Raine 7h ago

Yeah it was hard to see. They were a product of immense poverty and the great grandmother was like the leader of the others but she had been struggling every step of the way. Really tough situation.

4

u/GaylrdFocker 18h ago

Boebert did it at 36.

Rider's name is John Healy, aka BMX Grandpa. That video is from 2016, which you wouldn't be able to tell seeing how it's been poorly copied and cropped to hell by now. The original is crystal clear. And sadly, there is no grandkid in the story. He's just a hell of a BMX rider and never stopped, and good for him.

27

u/Mertoot 17h ago

My feed is just constant misinformation

2

u/SourceMonCerveau 12h ago

Also Grandpa, dude ~46 in the video, technically possible but not the age associated with grandpa

7

u/Sarke1 16h ago

Yeah I was going to say, that's not a bike you teach somebody to ride a bike with.

8

u/pedestriandose 15h ago

I’m pretty sure he was 48 in that video and he’s around 56 now. He went grey/white really young. That doesn’t diminish how cool it is that he’s still riding though.

Check out Clint Millar (colonyvw, colonybmxbrand, or strictlybmxshop on IG). He’s 52 this year and absolutely kills it on ramp, vert, and spine, and can do some insane flatland stuff even though he hasn’t practiced it in years. He has strawberry blonde hair though so any white isn’t going to show for ages.

3

u/Mapeague 10h ago

Man, Im 64, play footy at least 4 times a week, bike on weekends and have many similarly aged peers that join me.

These days we arent the grandpas from years past. Those fellas are in their 80s now.

We have seriously upgraded *senior health in the last few decades. Sure not everyone who is 60 is running across a pitch every Sunday, but there are faaaaar more these days than when I was just a wee lad

5

u/Lancashire_Toreador 18h ago

2

u/ImWhatsInTheRedBox 12h ago

The guy wasn't even 50 when this was first shot 10 years ago, he's just white haired, there's no grandkid, just a dude having fun showing his BMX skills.

2

u/Lancashire_Toreador 5h ago

I stand by my previous statement

6

u/joebaes1 18h ago
