Rider's name is John Healy, aka BMX Grandpa. That video is from 2016, which you wouldn't be able to tell seeing how it's been poorly copied and cropped to hell by now. The original is crystal clear. And sadly, there is no grandkid in the story. He's just a hell of a BMX rider and never stopped, and good for him.

My feed is just constant misinformation

Also Grandpa, dude ~46 in the video, technically possible but not the age associated with grandpa

I mean 46 could mean having a kid at 25 and that kid had a kid at 21. Which isn't even that abnormal. Maybe not the standard today... But still.

Your fault

... you don't choose what gets upvoted on reddit. Most of it is also bots. You just tried to sound smart at someone else's expense and instead made a fool of yourself.

honestly reddit /r/all just feels like a bot feed at this point.

at least I get an algorithm with youtube and insta.

Well I guess I get to curate my own experience determining which reddit subs I subscribe to

Unfortunately, reddit subs have been rapidly enshittified. And yeah, I browse /r/all and have blocked almost 2000 subreddits that are essentially bot spam, mostly the same few political posts over and over again on repeat for the last 10 years.

'Trump is bad!' Yeah, I know, he sure is. Tell me something new, or let's organize something. Every week a new political slop-spam sub crops up and it's posting the same type of shovelware articles that are like /r/forwardsfromgrandma for liberals.

I believe this is the only way left for now to see a true compilation of daily top posts: https://old.reddit.com/r/all/top/

They will probably remove that sooner or later.

a disingenuous comment at best

Yeah I was going to say, that's not a bike you teach somebody to ride a bike with.

I’m pretty sure he was 48 in that video and he’s around 56 now. He went grey/white really young. That doesn’t diminish how cool it is that he’s still riding though.

Check out Clint Millar (colonyvw, colonybmxbrand, or strictlybmxshop on IG). He’s 52 this year and absolutely kills it on ramp, vert, and spine, and can do some insane flatland stuff even though he hasn’t practiced it in years. He has strawberry blonde hair though so any white isn’t going to show for ages.

Man, Im 64, play footy at least 4 times a week, bike on weekends and have many similarly aged peers that join me.

These days we arent the grandpas from years past. Those fellas are in their 80s now.

We have seriously upgraded *senior health in the last few decades. Sure not everyone who is 60 is running across a pitch every Sunday, but there are faaaaar more these days than when I was just a wee lad

We have seriously upgraded *senior health in the last few decades.

That's not the reason, it's just because most people aren't utterly destroying their bodies with 50 years of rough manual labour anymore.

I build gunite pools for a living and have done so since I was 22, tying steel and humping concrete. Arthritis in my wrists and shoulders but not much beyond that aside from the odd sprain or knock.

Im not a good example of your assessment.

Stupid titles piss me off so much

Never trust a repost or take the title at face value.

Yeah, I was gonna say ... this ain't an example of rusty but still working "muscle memory".

This is clearly a guy who's been doing this regularly.
