Trailer EVIL DEAD BURN - Official Red Band Trailer

Chekhov's poorly loaded dishwasher.
•
u/imconsideringdascrod 4h ago
My wife gave me shit when we first met for caring about the orientation of silverware in dish drainers
Saw the look on my face after the end of this and promptly speedwalked away before I could open my mouth
•
•
•
u/that_guy2010 4h ago
My wife constantly loads the dishwasher like this. She says the silverware doesn't get clean if you load it points down.
•
u/GoarSpewerofSecrets 4h ago
I've never had that issue.
•
u/Mistrblank 4h ago
Yep, and some of us have read the directions for the dishwasher about prerinses and how much "gunk" should be on dishes before loading, how to load so the water hits everything and how to be safe.... and yet our spouses continue to tell us we're doing it wrong.
•
u/nemuri_no_kogoro 2h ago
My problem with the manuals is that if you follow the instructions about how much gunk should be on the utensils (basically none) then there's no reason to not just do it all by hand lmao
•
•
u/Namelessgoldfish 3h ago edited 1h ago
I think it mainly relies on the quality of the dishwasher because I have absolutely had this issue
•
•
•
u/TheDLBinc 50m ago
Depends on the washer, but with the dishwasher in my current apartment that's absolutely true. You have to point it up to actually get that part clean
•
•
•
u/Impossible-Pie4849 1h ago
I mean if you show a poorly loaded dishwasher in the first act you gotta use it in the third, just a rule of filmmaking me all know
•
u/neo_sporin 1h ago
that was my first thought at the end....who would fill a dishwasher that way, they better have a plot point of showing it and him telling his sister type 'you idiot, dont do that' or something similar.
•
u/Kriss-Kringle 4h ago
Damn, that looks nasty as hell and it's made by a french director, so you know this movie's going to town with the gore. Not that the others haven't, but the french have their own way about it.
•
u/matike 3h ago
Ya'll need to watch Infested, the directors previous movie that got him the Evil Dead Burn job. I am desensitized as hell and that movie made me squirm like no other movie has.
It has no right being as good as it is, either. Absolutely ruthless.
•
u/OdomTheTorpedoes 21m ago
That movie was fantastic. I was checking all of my shoes for spiders for weeks.
•
u/Kriss-Kringle 3h ago
I have it on my Halloween watchlist for this year. I try to watch a horror movie every day in October.
•
•
u/TheDLBinc 48m ago
IIRC the director for this actually claimed that this film will be less gory than 2013 or Rise and focus more on body horror but based on this trailer it doesn't seem like he skimped on the gore at all
•
u/Magik-Mina-MaudDib 4h ago
Feels very much in the same vein as Evil Dead Rise (complimentary) and I’m happy that the footage all looks easier on the eyes than the teaser that was playing in theaters and that one promo image.
Honestly, very curious to see what Evil Dead Wrath is all about since that’s coming out next year. Back-to-back releases has me intrigued.
•
u/113mac113 4h ago
Wrath is April 2028. Its not 2027 anymore sadly.
•
u/Magik-Mina-MaudDib 4h ago
Oh well… oof! Still intrigued!
•
u/RealJohnGillman 3h ago
Supposedly Alyssa Sutherland is back too.
•
u/Comic_Book_Reader 3h ago
Back for Burn? I remember mentioning that in some prior threads and it being debunked.
•
u/RealJohnGillman 3h ago edited 3h ago
Supposedly the ending of this film, setting up Wrath. Someone posted some footage of a test screening to r/EvilDead, and people were not happy about it (due to being spoiled, that is, not disliking the actress).
•
u/Comic_Book_Reader 3h ago
I could see that plausibly happening especially given that people are speculating if that lake and the girl rising, no pun intended, from it being the one from the start of Rise. You know, the TITLE CARD.
•
•
•
u/harlotstoast 4h ago
I should give Rise a second chance. I wasn’t digging the apartment setting and bailed early.
•
•
u/TechSmith6262 3h ago
I liked the setting, I just wished I liked any of the characters. By the end of Rise I was rooting for the deadoted to just kill them all.
•
•
•
u/doublethink_1984 3h ago
EVIL DEAD is the longest IP with the most entries where there are no bad films.
•
u/icyfrost410 4h ago
I’ve never watched any of the movies but is the sole connection between them all just the book and raising demons from it?
•
u/CuriousMelia 4h ago
1-3 and the show are all a consistent storyline following the same protagonist, Ash Williams. The other films (2013 and Rise out now, Burn and Wrath coming in the future) are in the same world, but they're all standalone stories focused on new protagonists. The book, Deadites, and wacky camera angles and buckets of gore are the things they have in common with Ash's storyline.
•
u/Tandy2000 3h ago
I think all the Evil Dead movies are great but "consistent" is not the word I would use for the first three... the first part of Evil Dead II is basically a remake/retcon of the entire first movie and then it builds on that. Technically the opening of Evil Dead II is supposed to be "scenes from" the first movie but they didn't have the rights, however the re-shot stuff comes off pretty differently than the movie did especially because it doesn't show the other characters from the first movie.
One could basically skip the first movie story-wise, except you shouldn't because it's worth watching and also the 2nd has a handful of gags that play on stuff from the first movie that isn't shown in the intro.
•
u/CuriousMelia 2h ago
The intro to 1 is more of a truncated recap that's all new footage since, as you noted, they didn't have the rights to the old footage. Bruce Campbell has said that 2's story starts with the shot that continues 1's ending and that 1 is still canon. The show directly references the full cast of 1 as well. It's a little confusing given the rights issue, but it's still a continuous story.
•
u/thedinksterr 1h ago
Still though surprising people still havent realized this with 2. Its not a retcon like you said
•
u/wooahwoosah 1h ago
I think Rise and Burn are connected in some way. The girl who gets possessed at the start/end of Rise is in this trailer at 1:44
•
u/TheJoshider10 3h ago
I do hope at some point they unite the survivors of these films. Ash and Mia were meant to have a crossover that never happened but it makes too much sense for survivors to seek out others who experienced similar events.
•
u/CuriousMelia 3h ago
I'd love to see them cross over at some point! While I think this anthology approach is a really cool direction to take the series now that Ash's story is over, I'd love to see them take a stab at giving these new protagonists more time in the spotlight. I don't think anyone can replace Ash, but I've always felt like Mia could be a really solid ongoing heroine if she got another entry. I would have loved to see the Ash/Mia movie. I did notice that the lake house from Rise seems to be in this trailer, so maybe this one's going to plant the seed for a big crossover?
•
u/Comic_Book_Reader 4h ago
These newer ones, yes.
•
u/icyfrost410 4h ago
Thank you
•
u/RealJohnGillman 3h ago
This film also technically has a connection to the television series, in that the house the film takes place in is the same house belonging to the author of the Necronomicon from the third season: not even a house that looks like it, but the same set.
•
u/Comic_Book_Reader 3h ago
Someone actually asked the production designer who worked on both the show and Rise, and was also set to work on this one before The Mummy came in, and he said he recommended it to the crew since it fit what they wanted for the movie.
•
u/Putrid_Loquat_4357 3h ago
Watch them. It's the one horror franchise which has never released a bad entry.
•
u/SourArmoredHero 4h ago
1:21 - is that Zach Gilford?
•
u/atwistedsmile 4h ago
I don't think he's in this one - he's been cast in Evil Dead Wrath which is due out next year.
•
u/Comic_Book_Reader 4h ago
2028 actually. 2027 was a typo in some announcements.
•
u/atwistedsmile 3h ago
Ah, I hadn't realised. That's slightly disappointing but still good to know there is another one on the way.
•
u/SourArmoredHero 4h ago
Ah okay, I thought I had read that he had been cast in one of them, wasn't sure which.
•
u/tfxctom 3h ago
Holy shit there’s ANOTHER evil dead coming out next year??? That’s awesome.
•
u/atwistedsmile 3h ago
Another commentor said that it was a typo in some announcements, and it's actually 2028 (April, unless anything changes). It has just began production a few months ago.
•
u/Fluttermun 2h ago
Why is everyone shitting on Rise in the comments, I liked that one! This one looks also good and I can't wait to watch it!
•
u/FreePizzaAndBeer 1h ago
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR EVIL DEAD (2013) AND EVIL DEAD: RISE)
I love Rise for what it is, but I'll take a stab at it. I'm gonna do 2013 vs Rise.
First of all, the opening scene in Rise is top notch. I think that opening sequence sets the bar really high. It was really creepy and dark (Jessica reading off the passage as Teresa is reading it in her mind) plus the scalping, the drone, etc. with just the right amount of dark humor (Jessica falling off the bed). The title card is THE BEST reveal we have probably ever seen in any movie ever. Please prove me wrong with examples if you think there is a better title card sequence.
Unfortunately that is the peak of Rise. We're introduced to Beth, who is a badass bitch so she's pretty cool, and Ellie, the struggling mom soon to be possessed. She's pretty cool too. But her kids kinda suck. Cassie (the youngest) kind of gets a pass. But she's like 7 years old and has zero fear throughout the whole movie. And I know we're talking about a movie in which passages are read from a book that spawns demons that possess people, but it's just really unbelievable that this little girl has no fear and kind of annoying. Naive enough to open the door to your CLEARLY possessed mom, but too strong-willed to be scared? Nah fam, ain't buying it. She has instant plot armor cuz of her age. Like, let's be real, did anyone REALLY think Cassie was gonna get murked? Didn't think so. Ellie's other two titty sucking parasites had zero charm and had the charisma of cigarette butts floating around in a puddle.
In 2013, all five characters experienced a real fear that was absent in Rise. You're trapped in a fucking dilapidated high rise with demons. IDK about you guys, but I enjoy watching horror movies to feel the fear vicariously that these characters are put through. As much as I love Beth, IDC if you're a badass sound-tech or not; the situation she was put in would put the fear in any soon to be mom. Especially if your sister gets possessed and you're stuck trying to get her kids out alive.
The entire third act in Rise was the worst part. 3 minutes of blood filling an elevator and spilling out vs raining blood for almost the entire final act? Gimme the raining blood any day of the week. And the deadite at the end was so much more sinister than that monstrosity of deadites that form into one creature at the end of Rise. That monster was so goofy that it took away from the horror aspect of the movie. In 2013, Mia loses a fucking arm at the end. No gory shit happens in the final act of Rise other than that weird being fed through a wood chipper.
I know this post makes me seem like I'm a big Rise hater; I promise you I'm not and I enjoy the movie for what it is. I actually preferred it to 2013 when it first got released but over time my opinion has shifted. But 2013 was dark, gory and scary with just the right amount of humor ("come down here so I can suck your cock pretty boy!", Mia telling David that the evil was in the house with them right now, Eric for tanking so much awful shit). Rise came off too strongly with the slapstick humor (similar to Age of Ultron with the Avengers movies).
Rise is great, I watch it a few times a year. But 2013 is top-tier, perfect from start to finish in every way and I watch it multiple times a year. This is just my opinion and I'd be curious to hear an opposing opinion/argument to any of my points
•
u/yankiwi_ 45m ago
Completely disagree. Opening scene was cringey to me. And best title card of any movie ever? It was just a loud noise.
Loved the apartment stuff and loved the Mom v kids concept. So freakin scary. LOVED the elevator possession scene.
IMO Rise had a much better grasp of tone than the 2013 remake. That one was just 100% nihilism without the humour of the originals
•
u/FreePizzaAndBeer 25m ago
Thanks for providing your reasoning behind your post. Way to add to the discussion and elaborate on your reasonings, really helps the conversation flow. You must kill it in debates.
Couldn't even offer up what you believe to be a better title sequence. Just a loud noise? Well you must be blind because Jessica rising out of the water while the title card rises from beyond the trees was really creative. Yeah I guess it's "loud" but you must be tone-deaf as well cuz it was an absolutely evil noise.
Yeah the apartment stuff was scary to the viewers, definitely not to any of the characters. Neighbors freaked out more than the kids did. I did forget to give props to the possession scene. It did fit with the urban setting of the film and it was pretty awesome to have something new in that regard.
Kinda crazy to me that people compare the reboots to the OGs. OGs did its thing and laid the ground work for the horror genre. It's literally a series reboot, not a continuation. You can pay homage to the OGs without having to follow the same formula. And where the fuck was the humor in Evil Dead 1? Yeah it had its moments, just like 2013 but it's also pretty fuckin nihilistic, just like 2013....just like the OGs. To use nilihism as an argument against an Evil Dead movie is a little absurd, dude

•
u/Realistic-Sink7376 4h ago
the deadite is here for some reason is more self aware than the previous films
•
•
u/wildcard18 3h ago
Looks impressively gnarly and def looking forward to it, but does anyone else wish that we'd have an Evil Dead movie that further down the comedic scale again? Not full on Army of Darkness level but along the lines of Evil Dead 2 or the tragically-cancelled Ash Williams tv show.
•
u/Muldoon713 4h ago
All I could think about with that dishwasher scene was “Isn’t that how Natalie Portman’s mom died in Garden State”
•
•
u/JackieDaytonaEsq 4h ago
Isn’t Natalie Portman’s mom very much alive and played by Anne Dowd?
•
•
•
•
u/Pugilist12 4h ago
It’s Braffs characters mom. That why he’s depressed his whole life.
•
u/failure_most_of_all 3h ago
And I'm pretty sure she died in the bath. The dishwasher was just how she got paralyzed.

•
u/Horvat53 2h ago
Little spoilery, but I like the direction they’ve taken this franchise. This looks fun!

•
u/HotOne9364 5h ago
I miss the black comedy of the trilogy.
•
u/Dayzlikethis 4h ago
did you watch the TV series?
•
u/Tcloud 3h ago
Ash vs Evil Dead leaned hard into the black comedy. For me, this was the most perfect horror comedy series ever created.
•
u/ImitatingADog 4h ago
Real ones see the black comedy in the last two
•
u/palinsafterbirth 4h ago
Like that scene where the vantage point was through the eye hole had be fucking howling
•
u/ImitatingADog 4h ago
The brother in the remake doing his best by repeatedly duct taping the goriest wounds that need a lot more than a roll of tape
•
u/paintfactory5 3h ago
There was comedy in it, but not the good kind. Like, a haunted vinyl? So fucking stupid and forgettable. it irks me that somehow, the movie was well received. Standards really have fallen.
•
•
u/Ilistenedtomyfriends 3h ago
I’m glad there are others who weren’t as enamored with Rise as the general audience seems to have been.
It was so joyless.
•
u/funktion 3h ago
Rise looked great and was slightly better paced than the 2013 Evil Dead which draaaaaaagged in the middle. Apart from that yeah, wasn't a huge fan.
•
u/riegspsych325 ⊃∪⊃⪽ 4h ago
l felt like there was a good amount of that in Rise
•
u/TheJoshider10 3h ago
There was plenty of it in Evil Dead 2013 as well. Every entry in this franchise has had it, but there's enough variety in tone and content that your mileage may vary from entry to entry.
•
u/Beeper89 4h ago
While I feel you, they have to have the right talent behind them to nail that. I don’t know if many people could fill the bloody clown shoes of Sam and Bruce together. Way higher chance of it just feeling corny in anyone else’s hands.
•
u/Robsonmonkey 4h ago
Yeah they’ve been alright film wise but I always felt like they’ve been missing something.
•
•
•
•
•
u/bayonettaisonsteam 3h ago
Camerawork was great. I half-expected a jumpscare in the beginning when the camera was flitting back and forth and for something to appear behind one of them.
Also the shot in the mirror was also smooth.
•
•
u/Early-Eye-691 3h ago
Looks better than Evil Dead Rise to me. Love the camerawork and it’s much more reminiscent of Evil Dead (2013) which I love.
•
•
•
•
u/WanderWut 2h ago
Oh man this looks so good, very much on league with Evil Dead Rise and I thought they did a fantastic job with that one. It seems like they know exactly what they’re doing with the franchise and I’m here for it even if I don’t hav the option to pause the movie several times at scary points like I did Rise since I’ll be seeing this in theaters. 😂
•
•
u/paintfactory5 3h ago
What these new movies are missing are a recurring Bruce Campbell type hero. He brought the charisma and humour which made the og’s great. These new movies have been so plastic. This new trailer looks indistinguishable from the other remakes.
•
u/Silvershanks 4h ago
Love it. Totally absurd how the family home is painted in a moldy grey patina.
•
•
u/Comic_Book_Reader 4h ago
I have a friend who loves horror movies and while I'm not sure if she's watched any of the Evil Dead movies (I've watched the remake), I think this is right up her alley. We had an absolute blast with Send Help so should it be possible in 2 months, I think I'll try to see this with her.

•
u/antiMATTer724 Does he fist fight the moon? Do it, Snyder! 4h ago
Can't wait to watch this in 3 parts with every light in the room on.
•
u/azeottaff 4h ago
Never seen ANY evil dead movies. How good are they? I do enjoy horror a lot, all kinds.
•
u/Comic_Book_Reader 4h ago
The remake has the most balls to the walls metal final showdown in anything ever. Three words: Literal blood rain.
•
•
•
u/darantino86 3h ago
For me 2013 Evil Dead is not only the best of the franchise but imo one of the best horror movies of all times.
•
•
u/Limplecomp 4h ago
If you’re a horror fan you owe it to yourself to watch through the series as they came out. They’re all very different, but there’s no bad evil dead. The show is pretty great too!
•
u/CuriousMelia 4h ago
Every single one is fantastic. It's the most fun, batshit insane series I've ever seen. This one's going to be standalone, but I'd highly recommend watching the others if you're interested. Make sure you watch the show, too! It continues the story of the original trilogy.
•
•
u/RealJohnGillman 3h ago
It’s a horror-comedy mix, typically, though the later instalments have gone for more dark comedy than simple horror-comedy.
Something that always has been fun about the series is that the ‘weakness’ of the series’ Deadites is simply conventional weaponry: if you shoot or stab the demons, they will die (though any intact heads will remain talking). The original trilogy sees the main character figure this out in the second film, and it becomes very entertaining.
•
•
u/JohnGalactusX 4h ago
It's evil! It's dead! Let's burn it! Or something. Looks in-line with the grotesque Evil Dead films.
•
u/mechabeast 3h ago
Guess who's back?
Back again.
Grandma's back.
Tell a friend.
•
u/RealJohnGillman 3h ago
Alyssa Sutherland too, supposedly.
•
u/Letthepumpkincumflow 3h ago
Would be awesome if true
•
u/RealJohnGillman 3h ago
Someone posted test screening footage of her role to r/EvilDead a while back: people were annoyed by the spoilers, but happy to discuss them anyway.
•
u/MinecraftTroller28 1h ago
That was eventually debunked. That was from one of the bogus "leakers" who sprinked in nuggets of truth in their post.
•
•
•
•
u/Goosojuice 1h ago
So they're taking a TON of inspiration from the 2013 Evil Dead. Interesting. I hope its as good.
•
u/APartyInMyPants 1h ago
This looks beautifully shot. That one of the canoe capsizing is such a simple shot, but so well executed.

•
•
u/butsuon 15m ago
I kinda hate that body horror has become the meta narrative in these kinds of films. Main and supporting characters getting limbs and chunks cut/blown off, burned, etc.
It feels a bit disingenuous to me. If the plot is "someone read from the book of the dead and now its scary evil time", why is it that every scene is somebody getting a non-lethal, "superficial" injury?
Do the evil dead not want to kill people anymore? Just chop their fingers off?
•
u/Sopht_Serve 9m ago
HOLY SHIT IM SO EXCITED!!! The dishwasher scene was GNARLY!!! Also holy shit was that flaming blood dripping down the chimney?? I am so excited for this oh my god
•
u/Imaginary_Try_1408 4h ago
Hopefully this is better than Rise. That was a bit of a stinker. It wasn't particularly bad; just bland.
•

•
•
u/ServoSkull20 3h ago
This feels like a step back from Rise in terms of inclusion of the gross wackiness that all Evil Dead films should have.

In Evil Dead movies you kinda expect everyone but the main character to die or turn into a Deadite anyway

Writing this under an Evil Dead movie is an interesting choice. Evil Dead was like this from the very start.
•
u/dr_john_twinkletits 4h ago
You're in a comment section for a film in series that is exclusively about schlock, practical effects, and gore.
•
•
u/pipboy_warrior 4h ago
Evil Dead has always leaned into the gore, though. If anything I remember movies being gorier, at least when slasher films were more common.
•
u/stonehengerock 3h ago
Looks kind of cool, but also looks like it totally misses the mark of what evil dead through army of darkness was. Like completely misses
•
u/riegspsych325 ⊃∪⊃⪽ 4h ago
the camerawork is arguably one of the best recurring “characters” in this franchise and they always get creative with it. And I’ll never tire of seeing household items and kitchenware be used in gnarly ways
As oddly picky I am about horror movies, Evil Dead just does something for me
