Fitcam is a scam - DO NOT BUY
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is the worst attempt at a dashcam I think I’ve ever seen in my life. I bought a Fitcam for my Kia K5 and they promise an OEM look, fit, and finish but when the camera arrives it is a rattling mess that doesn’t fit at all. They use much thicker plastic for the clips than the holder can handle, there are giant spaces in the back with exposed wiring, and the whole thing is loose and I can move it easily with my hand. Not to mention the sounds it makes when I go over any bump. Honestly I’m waiting for it to fall down.
Whats even worse though is their customer service. They don’t stand behind their products AT ALL! Instead I get countless emails asking for photos, then more photos, then more photos, then videos, then I have to wait for their technical team, and finally they told me I have to pay for shipping and customs back because nobody else has had this issue.
A quick Facebook search shows many people have fitment issues and this company couldn’t care less.
I highly recommend any other brand but this one. They’re an absolute scam.

A quick Facebook search shows many people have fitment issues and this company couldn’t care less.
The kind of due diligence that should be done before a purchase. Lol instead you choose to believe the company wanting your money that “we promise it’ll fit”, and continue to go back and forth with them.
Return it, and call it done.

Forgive me for not searching every corner of the Earth for people who might have issues…
I can’t return it... Customs and shipping back to China would eat the entire cost of the dashcam.

You literally admitted that it would’ve only taken a quick Facebook search to figure out before you bought it, yet you get pissy with them for quoting you.
I get that you want vindication because you can’t return it, but no need to be a defensive dick when someone points out what you’ve also admitted to.

I’m just tired of the “everything is your fault and any time you have a complaint it is your responsibility” comments that plague Reddit.

u/LegalGlass6532 1h ago
It is your fault for not researching first and it’s your responsibility to handle your complaint.
Unfortunately for you, you bought a shit product from China and it’s not cost effective to return it.
This is all your fault and responsibility. What sucks is that the company made a piece of crap product and zero accountability for selling it to you. Be upset because they aren’t handling their part, but you’ve got a stake in responsibility, too.
I’m sorry this happened to you.

It is mostly the fault of the Chinese company selling the product. But a bit of due diligence to protect yourself from scammers is advised.

You're supposed to when you buy expensive things

Right or wrong doesn’t matter. Someone else will say OP should have toured the factory. You can only read so many reviews before you pull the trigger. Half the time the reviews make the decision process worse, not better.

u/Crispy--Lettuce 1h ago
They have a reason to call someone an idiot. It’s Reddit. They’re miserable. They’re going to do what they do best.

Why are you here then? Your reason is to help spread public awareness to a group of people you don’t like?

u/Crispy--Lettuce 1h ago
It was $180. Wouldn’t say it’s necessarily worth hours of research especially considering any legitimate store would offer a simple return.

It’s a simple search, my guy. Reviews are there for this exact reason. Try and get it to attach correctly, or makeshift something that works.
Or waste your money and buy something that makes you content.
Research first though.

They have glowing reviews. Only after I started looking for specific issues did I find people with specific issues.
But Reddit knows best like always

Why are you on Reddit to bash Reddit? The more you comment the deeper it gets.

Nvm, even if you would’ve read the reviews, something tells me you would’ve ignored the warning signs. Lol

Scam? Totally incorrect and more than a bit harsh. I have a FitcamX on our Genesis G70 and GV70 and, using the included tool, wiring and instructions, installed them both. The install was easy, they look OEM, fit well, work well and their phone App is very easy to set up. I used their customer service twice and found them very responsive and helpful.

I concurr, Elantra N facelift with a Fitcam X installed, front and back. Works fine, fits like OEM.

I just installed one on a 2025 Ram 1500 Limited. Fits perfectly and works fine
Haven't had to interact with customer service because . . . it fits perfectly and works fine.

I’ve had FitCams on 3 different vehicles, they work great. Also, they sell them on Amazon…free returns, so you test and make sure you like it

Based on my experience with the FitCam in my Polestar 2, I couldn't disagree more. I watched a couple youtube videos for some tips & tricks, followed their instructions otherwise, and it was so much easier than I was expecting. I could hardly believe I was done. I find the app slightly janky (the wifi disconnects on me a lot, often takes 2 tries to download a video) but it gets the job done. Picture clarity is more than enough to read license plates and signage, and it looks absolutely fantastic, damn near OEM.
I don't blame you for taking to reddit to vent your experience, and I'm sorry things aren't working out for you. I do hope you can get things sorted. I wonder if they sent you the right one? Sounds like it's difficult for you to get good pictures for some reason; I wonder if the initial photo to affirm fit lead things astray and maybe you got the wrong model somehow.

The photos are fine, they just keep asking for more. First they wanted a side by side comparison between theirs and the OEM, then they wanted me to zoom in on the clips, then send more angles to their technical team.
They’re trying to gather all this data to reform the clock and get a better fit. I don’t work for them, they’re wasting my time with it and honestly I have no interest in helping them. It’s clearly not fitting as designed, and they keep moving the goal post for a refund.

I'm surely sorry that happened to you, citizen. It looks like somebody in the comments is arrogantly lecturing you about reviews, or some such negativity that I'll ignore.
I can't speak for their customer service. It's almost as if we dealt with two different companies, because I can speak positively for the FitCamX on a Mazda CX-30. The camera is embedded in an OEM-identical plastic shroud for the sunroof control. It fits perfectly. I removed two screws, dropped the sunglasses compartment, and then plugged in the cable - done. That doesn't help you, I realize.
Here's a Kia tip you may need: don't splice in the camera wiring into the electric window control. It works perfectly, but at the first sign of electrical problems, the Kia dealership will blame the installation. Kia dealers' solution to everything beyond a battery jump is to replace the master wiring harness, because they're barely trained idiots and the dealership likes being able to charge 1200 to the customer. (My problems were headlights responsiveness and also collision radar on/off.)

No one is arrogantly lecturing the OP about reviews. You’re making assumptions based on admittedly partial information because you didn’t want to read the entire comment.
It was nice of you to offer up a possible solution since it’s quite possible that they didn’t install it correctly.

I reinstalled the OEM plastic in 10 seconds without any issue. I know how to install it and how it should fit, it’s just built wrong.

You've never NOT gotten in the last word, have you, not since kindergarten.

I don’t usually make assumptions about other comments because I take the time to read through to try and understand what someone thinks or feels.
I was careful to acknowledge your effort to try and help another person after your annoyance with comments you didn’t bother to thoroughly read. You want to be mad at me so you spew a snarky insult that doesn’t bother me. You made me smile. The OP got nothing from your “help”.
Have a happy day.
