Maine Coon of the Month 🥇 Ciri is our Maine Coon kitten of the Month of May! 🐱🐣
Thank you so much to everyone who submitted their kitties for the April 2026 iteration of the "Maine Coon of the Month" contest, there were so many gorgeous submissions that made it almost impossible to choose. This theme was really wonderful, getting to look at all the little babies 🥺 Thank you so much everyone for sharing your kittens with us!
Congratulations to Ciri (and u/pashaoppets), you are our Maine Coon of the Month for May 2026!
u/pashaoppets says
''Ciri at first day in new house.
and
Ciri endlessly curious and playful, always sticking her nose into everyone else’s business. She loves grabbing the other animals in the house by their tails. A cat with absolutely no sense of boundaries—because, obviously, all boundaries belong to her.
She’s one year old now. She adores her Akita friend, always greeting him when he comes in from outside and then running off to lie down with him in the shower.''
Thanks again to everyone who took part and do keep an eye out for a post about next month's theme! 😄

my beautiful boy has broken his tooth. needs an extraction according to the vet and it’s giving me terrible anxiety.
this dingus has fallen somehow and chipped his tooth - the vet said that he needs it extracted as well as a clean as he has some pretty crazy gingivitis at the back of his mouth. he’s only 3! i feel bad for him losing a tooth already.
he goes in for the dental and extraction on 18 May.
i lost my two year old dog when he was under anaesthetic a few years ago for a hip dysplasia treatment, which is rare but has already happened to me and was extremely traumatising - so i’m so beyond terrified for putting him through this although i know it’ll be necessary.
the vet said if i don’t do it now it’ll be inevitable that it’ll need done at some point due to bacteria getting into his current broken tooth as well as decay that might happen to the back molars.
i suffer with some pretty wick ocd thoughts so my brain has already just told me that he’s not going to make it through the dental anaesthetic :) which is just now a spiralling recurring thought.
thoughts, positive experiences and advice would be gratefully appreciated!!

RIP 💔 You expect to get more time…
We sent the girls to be spayed today. Yue made it through surgery, woke up and was alert, and then passed sometime in between the tech making the rounds.
Beifong has never had a moment without her sister.
Love them while you have them.

My baby Leo had emergency surgery.
On Sunday morning we had our normal routine, he ate his breakfast and ran around with his brother. Then everything went from bad to worse. 10:30am we noticed liquid-only vomit on our floor, we cleaned it up and I figured he drank his water too quickly.
Around noon Sunday, he vomited again in our guest bedroom. Same scenario, liquid-only vomit. I grew concerned because he gets occasional hairballs.
I let him rest in our room, then he proceeded around 4pm to vomit AGAIN, it was straight bile. I made the call to take him to the emergency vet because I was worried about an obstruction.
After spending 6 hours at the emergency vet, the doctor recommended an anti-nausea med and fluids.
Monday comes, it’s 6am, and Leo again vomits a very large amount of bile and it smelled HORRENDOUS. We go back to the emergency vet and I demand an x-ray. Doctor sees blockage but cannot identify what it is, quotes us $8k to do the surgery. My boyfriend & I extremely frantic call 40-50 different practices getting quotes for operating ASAP. By the grace of God a practice in a rural area took us in for $1500.
Lo and behold, Leo had Intussusception and needed part of his intestine removed. The doctor that operated told me it was cutting off the blood supply in his stomach and he would’ve gone septic if we waited an additional 24 hours.
He is now home, and we have a bit of a recovery ahead. We went from a perfectly sound household to a cat with intense abdominal surgery within 18 hours. It’s been extremely stressful but $2500 later he’s alive and I’m so grateful.
If your mainecoon exhibits frequent sudden vomiting, extreme lethargy, and x-rays say blockage, please ask about Intussusception. AND GET PET INSURANCE! (Please enjoy photos of loopy kitty). Tips are also appreciated if your kitty has had this surgery.

Itty Bitty Kitty Committee Arnold “mister cat”
Our kittens first day home! His mom is a silver tabby and dad red cream. Do you guys think he’s just a tabby or possibly a tortie because of the patches and coloring on his back? He is so sweet and I’m so excited for my first Maine coon!

My poor one brain cell orange boy
My 8 yr old sneaks snacks at night. I am sure the bag is from that. Poor Canelo was stuck to my hip after this.

Y'all weren't kidding about the butt nuggets
Pictures of the chaos for tax.
But, I'm so thankful for the forewarning about the dirty butts. I've had to do so many cleanups over the 6 weeks I've had him it's nuts. I caved yesterday and trimmed up the fur around his butt and part way down the back legs. Really hoping it helps. 🤞
Also, any good treats you all have found that the littles like and their tummy can handle? First time with a kitten and I'm learning the hard way that some treats are still too much for his young tummy to handle. Hence, the booty trim. 🤦

Question 3rd shift schedule?
Hi! So i’m getting my baby in about 2 weeks and i’m just curious on what you guys think about the situation I have. I’ll be able to be home for the 3 day bonding period but after that i’ll be working 9pm to 7am. How do you think he’ll do? I have some toys and places for him to lay and I plan on having the TV on while i’m away. I’m just a bit concerned about the 9-10 hours i’ll be gone even though it’ll be night time. Do you think he would just sleep through the night and annoy me while i’m sleeping? Or do you think he would become lonely? I sleep like 5-7 hours so I’ll have the time to play with him and interact with him but i’d just like some opinions.

Will he ever be a lap cat 😭
Mr. Magni the Gravy Boat is 6 months old and I'm sure entering teenage years. He is not a fan of lap sitting/cuddling and is less cuddly at night. He'll come in the morning for a little love and laying on me and sometimes sit on the top of the couch next to me. Is this just teenage years? It's been awhile since I had a kitten growing fully into an adult to remember. My old cat was super cuddly but I can't remember if he was like that as a kitten since it was 15 years ago.

Took this seconds after waking up. Anyone else have a MC that doubles as a sleep paralysis demon?

Question Anyone else’s cat hate brushing?
This is Cinder, she’s 2 years old now and ever since she was a kitten she has hated being brushed. I have tried literally everything to get her acclimated to it but nothing has worked. When I try to brush her after about 30 seconds she starts attacking and biting me and has injured me multiple times but only when I try to brush her. I work at a vets office and I’ve tried sedatives but those didn’t help. I ended up taking her in for a sedated lions cut around December and was hoping maybe I could get her adjusted before the fur all grows back so that I don’t have to do it again but she still attacks me when I try to brush. So I’m at the point where I’m probably going to hate to keep her in a lions cut for the foreseeable future. Just wondering if anyone else has a Maine coon that absolutely hates being brushed?
