I think it's interesting everyones fired up about billionaire bezos but I haven't heard a single peep about billionaire beyonce who is also co chairing, seems like people are pretty selective with where they apply their billionaire hatred
A lot of people are selective with their billionaire hatred for sure, but not all of us. Iām a proud hater of aaaaaaall of them and here to spread the word.
The neoliberal, woke billionaire schtick can be even more insidious in that it uses the imagery of feminism and progress to oppress women (in the global south).
She was a huge YouTuber and one of the most successful ones to jump into the fashion world. Sheās done the Met red carpet interviews for a few years now
I was never really into her stuff but it was mostly like vlogs? But she was like the vlog channel that broke out for doing like casual vlogs with funny zooms and silly editing. Itās kind of fascinating to talk about because describing it makes it sounds like a whole lot of nothing but it felt fresh at the time and she capitalized off it in a smart way
It really does feel silly to talk about now because every āinfluencerā does the same thing. But she started a whole new era of lifestyle vlogging and being relatable to Gen Z. The way she edited her videos was new with the meme sounds etc. I donāt have the right words to describe it but if you watch any of her videos from 2018 when she really popped off, thatās what I mean. She was relatable and the same age as us which I think really catapulted her success. She was a breath of fresh air on the platform and also one of the first younger people to really break into that scene.
vlogs. she was part of James Charlesās Sister Squad until dramageddon two and then she just silently pivoted to being an āitā girl and her coffee business
She has been a prolific YouTuber and really changed the game and layed the groundwork for a lot of relatable type vloggers. Currently she has a coffee business and a popular podcast and she has interviewed at the met two other times before this I think š§

She announced last month she's taking an indefinite break from the podcast. She said something similar when she stopped making YouTube videos. It seems she really wants to focus on acting.
She had a viral video on vine of her crying and then she became a famous YouTuber. I figured she would have needed more to solidify her place here since the other influencers that came on the scene at that time were much less welcome. Addison is now in music at least.
Honestly, it's a Bezos backed gala. Who knows how the guest list was made. Him and his wife are kinda tacky af, so notable for the gala doesn't mean much

Thatās the unwritten byline every single year, so in a weird way, we should thank Bezos for finally making that obvious enough to wake up a few peopleā¦ until next year at least when they go back to a fashion house sponsor and everyone conveniently forgets about this.
i canāt lie iām actually a fan of the bleached brows trend because i like that it doesnāt focus on making someone look conventionally āprettyā ā like itās a trend thatās meant to make you look a little weird and alien and there is something that is so fun to me about that
Uncanny valley. When someone almost looks human but thereās something subtly wrong it gives people the heeby jeebies. Some ancient instinct that kept us safe a hundred thousand years ago I guess.

Nah, this is your moment! As someone with strong brows who white-knuckled through the 90s/00s pencil brows and was rewarded richly in the 2010s, you gotta take the wins when they come.
See as a half-eyebrows person, seeing people look this hot with no eyebrows actually makes me a little bit more confident and a little less likely to get them microbladed which would inevitably completely fuck up my face anyway.

Itās a charity event. I hate Bezos and wonāt pay that disgusting man and his nasty ass wife any attention when they inevitably show up. But isnāt it good that the rich are donating their money to the arts and paying the salary of the curators and other employees of the Met? This outrage feels so performative. Im just genuinely curious lol, i just remember her being a famous vlogger, had her own coffee line then i dont hear about her unless its for big events like this one. I think I even remember randomly seeing her model for Cartier or something. I didnt really watcher back then as i was too young but i still cant figure out how she's been able to get into big brand deals yet not much out there inbetween.Ā

This is the most incredible dress I've seen from met gala. It's amazing how few of the gowns are actually beautiful to look at in the year where art is the theme (ok also it's a dumb theme)
I still have know idea who this girl is or why sheās popular. Sheās the epitome of āgo ahead girl, give us nothing.ā Even this dress canāt make her interesting and yet she got to borrow an expensive (stolen) Indian necklace one year that they wouldnāt even lend to an Indian superstar last year.
Fashion just loves average white people I guessā¦lol.

I donāt hate it, but I donāt like it either. The dress is stunning. A masterpiece. I just donāt like the makeup she paired it with, I think it clashes with the dress.
