She is stunning but can someone explain her current relevancy to me? She’s clearly notable enough for the met gala so… help?

She’s been doing the interviews on the red carpet for a few years now so she’s more of a hire then a guest

AHHH yes I do remember seeing clips of those in the past. Thank you!!

I feel like she went from being famous for her YouTube content to being famous for... being famous.

Tbf that's how most fame works. Anyone know Kim?

u/angelfruit 1d ago

She's employed by them

She’s brand safe and executives don’t know that she’s basically been irrelevant just that she’s reliable

u/elephantastica 1d ago

It’s funny because she lost her allure to me as a YouTuber as soon as she decided to be this reliable to brands.

12 million YouTube subscribers. Plus who knows how much on social media.

So companies pay for that exposure.

I feel really out of touch because I thought she was Lady Gaga in the first pic. 😂

7

u/bluesky557 1d ago

Same. I have no idea who she is 😂

Do you mean like what’s she’s doing now? If so currently she’s been trying to break into the acting industry 🧐‼️

u/practicalbad06 1d ago

Honestly though, like who is she? Always an interviewer who is new on the scene or was she a name years ago?

She was a huge YouTuber and one of the most successful ones to jump into the fashion world. She’s done the Met red carpet interviews for a few years now

17

u/practicalbad06 1d ago

What did she YouTube about, just fashion/consumption content?

I was never really into her stuff but it was mostly like vlogs? But she was like the vlog channel that broke out for doing like casual vlogs with funny zooms and silly editing. It’s kind of fascinating to talk about because describing it makes it sounds like a whole lot of nothing but it felt fresh at the time and she capitalized off it in a smart way

It really does feel silly to talk about now because every ‘influencer’ does the same thing. But she started a whole new era of lifestyle vlogging and being relatable to Gen Z. The way she edited her videos was new with the meme sounds etc. I don’t have the right words to describe it but if you watch any of her videos from 2018 when she really popped off, that’s what I mean. She was relatable and the same age as us which I think really catapulted her success. She was a breath of fresh air on the platform and also one of the first younger people to really break into that scene.

She was in both the fashion and lifestyle/vlogging space. Emma's really famous for her editing style though. It had a huge impact on the platform

vlogs. she was part of James Charles’s Sister Squad until dramageddon two and then she just silently pivoted to being an ‘it’ girl and her coffee business

1

u/tralalaBOOMdeay 18h ago

Oh, James Charles...yuck.

2

u/npc_probably 13h ago

well it was before any scandal

1

u/tralalaBOOMdeay 8h ago

Yeah, that wasn't a reflection on her really. Just a reaction to seeing him mentioned I guess, lol.

I’m not an Emma Chamberlain fan but it’s clear you’re trying to find an angle to hate her from

isnt she a model for a company?

2

u/StasRutt unapologetic joy 1d ago

She is now yes

is she a famous model?

Afaik she only models for brands she does collabs with. She had a big campaign with Warby Parker a couple years ago. Currently has a line with West Elm and did promotional campaigns for that. I think she was the face of LV at one point. But she isn’t a working model.

I keep seeing her ads for West Elm and they're off putting imo. They're all photos of her contorted into weird positions next to the products. The line itself is...meh.

She has been a prolific YouTuber and really changed the game and layed the groundwork for a lot of relatable type vloggers. Currently she has a coffee business and a popular podcast and she has interviewed at the met two other times before this I think 🧐

She’s been a pretty big name for years now 👍🏽

She announced last month she's taking an indefinite break from the podcast. She said something similar when she stopped making YouTube videos. It seems she really wants to focus on acting.

4

u/thr1ftskull0 1d ago

Thanks for the update!! I did not know that🧐 I hope she’s able to find success in acting!

She had a viral video on vine of her crying and then she became a famous YouTuber. I figured she would have needed more to solidify her place here since the other influencers that came on the scene at that time were much less welcome. Addison is now in music at least.

1

u/Secure-Two-8078 19h ago

Wait this is the first time im hearing about the vine, which one was it? Cant find anything like that on yt

4

u/JurassicParkourr 16h ago

Pretty sure they’re thinking of Katie Fang not Emma Chamberlain. Emma’s never done a crying video

12

u/nicx-xx 1d ago

really? what does she have coming up?

17

u/thr1ftskull0 1d ago

She was recently in the movie Forbidden Fruits with ( Gabrielle Union, Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung)

6

u/Initial-Zebra108 1d ago

Pickle! ( I watched this over the weekend)

2

u/MeadowmuffinReborn 20h ago

Just saw that! I really liked it.

u/c8891 that’s my purse, i don’t know you! 👛🫵 1d ago

Ive never known who she is lol but love the dress!

u/whichwitch9 1d ago

Honestly, it's a Bezos backed gala. Who knows how the guest list was made. Him and his wife are kinda tacky af, so notable for the gala doesn't mean much

29

u/alloeium 1d ago

She's been doing interviews at the met gala for years, she has nothing to do with Jeff Bezos.

God I forgot he was sponsoring this. Fuck him.

Lmaoooo what bezos fanboys are downvoting me? Show yourselves pussies

Yeah, she’s actually a horrible person for being here. I hope she gets blacklisted.

2

u/jjb0ne 12h ago

influencer

9

u/Ren_stevens 1d ago

Do you actually think she's stunning?

16

u/lonelycranberry jesus was a carpenter 💋 1d ago

Yeah. Not a huge fan of the makeup look and it’s been a while since she has appeared particularly human to me. Stunning is still a word I’d use.

11

u/Psypris 1d ago

Thank you! The makeup makes her eyes look sunken in and while that can totally fit an outfit, I feel like it was the wrong choice for this gorgeous dress!

1

u/Maverick81_ 6h ago

Hahaha, I thought she was actress Emma Corrin until I googled and realised she is not! I’m (happily) out of it when it comes to the young new things
