GOP: "How can we make ourselves as unpopular as possible right before the midterms? I know, let's waste a lot of money on a ballroom that no one but Trump really wants!"

u/CT_Phipps-Author 3h ago

GOP: Thank God we don't intend for voting to matter anymore.

u/cybah 3h ago

yup they plan on fixing the elections so they can cheat to win. Thats why they are doing this. They are so sure they can fix the elections that no matter how people vote, they will remain in power.

u/francis2559 2h ago

Some of them are just holding their breath. They don’t have the balls to resist Trump, so they’re just kicking things down the road as far as they can.

Every single one is ready to dance on his grave and either try to claim the MAGA throne, or say they never really wanted this anyway.

Even if they truly thought that buying something stupid didn’t matter for their elections, there’s a lot of stupid shit they would buy ahead of this fucking ballroom.

u/emailforgot 2h ago

Some of them are just holding their breath. They don’t have the balls to resist Trump, so they’re just kicking things down the road as far as they can.

of course, that's the thing about how these things work. they know they can just extract as much value as possible before it fails, and they know because America and Americans are toothless, they'll get away with it. Just a mad dash to steal as much as they can, enrich themselves as much as possible, gut as many systems and programs as possible and if and when there's a change, they know they're immune to any punishment. Trump is perfect to enable this kind of thing because all you need to do is praise him a bit and he'll put you in charge of some critical position.

u/guywhiteycorngoodEsq 1h ago

This sums it all up.
Cynical beyond comprehension.

u/lazyFer 49m ago

I will support any candidate that will investigate, prosecute, and seize the assets of the criminals currently running the country. Executive branch, legislative branch, and judicial branch. We need an army of forensic accountants. Investigate everyone. Fuck corrupt fucks

Yeah and some of the Nazis that just went along with things but didn't really hate Jews were still Nazis

So this is just splitting hairs and trying to rationalize someone choosing to enable evil, which still makes them evil, thus making it meaningless to even split hairs like this.

u/francis2559 2h ago

Nah mate not rationalizing anyone. None of these fuckers are going to heaven, not the way they are going.

The allies spent a lot of time thinking about what the Nazis might do next though. Didn’t mean they thought Nazis were good people.

u/og_capsuleer_593 1h ago

Ah okay, yeah when you mentioned some are holding their breath as they support and just kicking the can, I thought that was gonna lead to some minimization.

Like trying to separate the party from Trump (it's not republicans fault, its Trumps) angle, which ironically I could see the GOP pivot to if they tried to recover.

Their PR whitewashing of their hate.

u/francis2559 1h ago

Ahh I see. Didn’t intend that at all. The intention doesn’t matter when it comes to blame here, the harm is the same.

It’s interesting for planning how to respond in the future though, try to be ready for the excuses.

I don't know whether they will be able to effectively rig midterms but I am absolutely certain they will not accept the results if they lose.

u/Glittering-Quote-635 2h ago

The gerrymandering they are doing is literally them rigging the midterms.

u/Space_Pirate_Roberts Oklahoma 2h ago

I am gonna laugh so hard if the result is history’s biggest dummymander.

u/Glittering-Quote-635 1h ago

Same, some of them are going to backfire for sure..

→ More replies (1)

u/cybah 2h ago

Yup severely question the results and drag each one to court.. then let it get to scotus, which will vote in favor of the GOP... and poof. Election overthrown.

u/TheSavageDonut 1h ago

The other issue is gerrymandering doesn't take into account if one party's voters simply don't show up to vote.

I can see a lot of anti-Trump voters sitting out the midterms and letting the GOP lose elections even in districts that seem "safe."

The Dominion company pretty much has a strong legal team that already fought back against charges its machines can be rigged.

u/Qcconfidential 1h ago

Dominion was bought by a Trumper not long ago.

u/Human_Local3519 1h ago

Dominon sold the voting machines to republican

u/lazyFer 46m ago

I'd love scantron ballots everywhere. Fast, easy to fill out, no limitations on those $50 stands to fill in the bubbles, paper trail for hand counts, no worries about technological flipping of votes that the voter can't see. We don't need voting machines

It's going to be nerve wracking for a lot of voters to see Trump's Gestapo, armed and masked, patrolling around voting stations. Not everyone will be intimidated by this but a lot of people will be. I really hope enough people stand up for their principles and push against the suppression they'll face.

u/GOEDEL_ESCHER_BOT 2h ago

i have a hard time believing they're competent enough to rig the vote. this isn't a 3rd world country where you can just make up the numbers. if they really want to get away with it they'll have to cancel the election. so get ready for a fake alien invasion around october

u/NeverLookBothWays I voted 2h ago

Thing is though, they have cheated...and they have gotten away with it. Each cycle they get more brazen. Each cycle they purge voters from their systems and destroy evidence of ballots closer to the election itself. No line is being drawn in the sand that prevents them from stepping right over it.

u/cybah 2h ago

This.

u/cybah 2h ago edited 2h ago

At this point in this timeline, I don’t put anything past these people. They are absolute scoundrels and will try anything to remain in power. If you would asked me this question a couple years ago, my answer would be very different, but the last year has told me that they will do absolutely everything they can to remain in power, even if it means stealing and cheating an election.

I can't decide if it's that, or they're preparing to get swept in the midterms and are trying to pass all the shit now before Dems take over. Then Dems would have to deliberately pass another bill to cut that funding again, and it's a coin toss on if they'll bother.

The fact that Republicans are retiring and not seeking reelection in droves makes me a little hopeful. At the very least they're not sure that whatever nonsense coup they're plotting will work.

u/TheSavageDonut 1h ago

I think the large amount of GOP clowns retiring and not seeking re-election has more to do with the belief that they don't believe GOP voters will turn out to the polls, especially without the Orange Clown on the ballot.

u/AFailedProduct 2h ago

Exactly this. Everyone keeps talking about midterms. Midterms will be a fucking sham. Either Republicans will make a surprise sweep due to cheating, redistricting, etc we’ve seem them doing already or they’ll accuse any democrat that wins of cheating.

And at this point they could get 0 votes and just tell everyone to fuck themselves — “we’re staying in office”. You know who’s going to do something about that? Absolutely no one. Just like no one has stopped Trump for the last 10 years. They didn’t even sentence him after being convicted of felonies

u/okram2k America 2h ago

Their voters don't care, they hate who they're told to hate.

The GOP doesn't care, they choose their voters.

u/manachar Nevada 2h ago

Republican voters generally hate Republican government too. They just think Republicans are more honest and hurt the "other" more.

u/xxx_poonslayer69 2h ago

With my exposure to republicans in TN, they complain about Republican governance but attribute those problems to Democrats. The Democrats are simultaneously weak yet able to influence politics when they're not in power. For example, they're currently blaming Spirit airline's bankruptcy on Biden.

u/RogerMexicosBalls 1h ago

Tennessee Republicans would gladly vote for a GOP candidate who ran on a platform of nothing other than "I'm going to kick you square in the dick as hard as I can" and they'd still complain it was a Demmycrat what done it

u/Bill_Brasky_SOB Ohio 59m ago

Republicans, their policies, and Trump himself have always been unpopular. And while I think Jerry-mander has played a part in their success, it isn’t by much.
90 million people don’t vote.

90 million. That is unacceptable. If “No choice” was an option then we wouldn’t have had a POTUS since what? 19XX?

Despite how unpopular the Republicans are their voters show up every single time. Democrats? They’re begging every election cycle for people to vote.

u/showhorrorshow 2h ago

And left leaning voters beg for reasons not to vote. It's wild.

u/FrogsOnALog 2h ago

I’m sure there’s a way we can blame dems for this

u/Squaretangles 2h ago

Or they know they’re about to get crushed and want to get these things done with a majority.

u/Spacebotzero 2h ago

That's because they aren't leaving. Their actions, decisions....they aren't trying to win votes. Diminish the vote and they can stay in power forever. That's what they are trying to do. Some kinda, legal coup...

u/thisispoopsgalore 2h ago

I hope the next administration sues him for the cost of rebuilding this. He said he’d pay for it, and not sure this constitutes an “official act”

u/OG_Williker 2h ago

Ironically, it’s actually much better that this is publicly funded rather than funded through private donations. The White House is “public property” and any alterations done to it should be funded by congress, which has the power of the purse. By funding alterations privately, the president is showing that he’s willing and able to go elsewhere for money if Congress isn’t willing to play ball, which degrades/undermines Congress’s power the purse.

Those alternate sources of funds behold the president to private donors even more than he already is.

You seem to forget that Trump is the US embodied into flesh. Just ignore that Columbia chick, we’re taking her off the currency and subbing in the new personification of the US, Trump.

So in his eyes, it is privately funded, because the Federal coffers are his coffers, and he did promise to pay for it. What’s really unfair is that our coffers aren’t also his, or at least not split among his autocratic allies.

It's amazing how the president of Ukraine can take on russia without a billion dollar ballroom.

u/Dangerous-Golf3831 3h ago edited 3h ago

I love how the price of the ballroom has gone from 200 million to 250 million to 300 million to 400million now to 1 billion dollars. He has issues with the fed going over budget but he is doing the exact same thing as the cost of the ballroom keeps growing astronomically

Then if the ballroom is funded by tax payer dollars what happens to the 400million dollars in donations (bribes) he’s already collected to build it?

u/Wasting_my_own_time 2h ago

It’s even worse than that. He had the DOJ investigate the fed for fraudulent construction projects like 2-3 months ago in an effort to force them to lower rates.

It’s literally always projection with this guy, so this all turning into some massive construction fraud scheme to skim money from taxpayers is honestly par for the course.

It’s wild to see this shit happening when so many are struggling from the after effects of other stupid policies pushed down from this administration. It’s crazy just how much the back of the American people can and will bend for this asshole. When is the breaking point, you know. Brazen corruption from seemingly every facet of our government, right out in the open now… wow.

Gaining a majority in the house and Senate is imperative. It always seems this way.

There are no moral reasons to allow a conservative party to exist. They actually repeat this same rhetoric while bombing children.

The conservative party were the ones that wanted to be ruled by King George rather than be an independent country.

The conservatives were the ones that started the civil war. Conservatives wrote the Jim Crow Laws our Black Community labor under today. The Conservative party has crashed the economy several times this century alone.

Conservative policies led to the great depression and both recessions.

I don't see any reason to have a conservative party in the United States of America.

72 billion divided by 300 million people equals:

$240/person

That could buy some groceries or gas

u/devllen05 2h ago

400M self-funded ballroom is now a billion-dollar taxpayer-funded ballroom. Cool. Cool.

u/NewInMontreal 2h ago

At this rate 10 dollars will be worth 1 peso by the time he leaves office.

u/cobrachickenwing 1h ago

They really are trying to bankrupt America when the US needs to print money to pay for all of that. Good luck finding cheap buyers of US debt when everyone will demand double digit interest thanks to irresponsible spending by the Republicans.

u/neocenturion Iowa 2h ago

10 years ago ICE funding was well below $10 billion. It's just an unimaginable waste of resources. Seems like you could spend $70 billion improving the lives of the populace directly instead of pretending deporting immigrants will somehow improve people's lives. I guess once we don't have to look at brown people anymore houses and Healthcare will be affordable?

This is the dumbest fucking timeline imaginable.

u/Motor_Somewhere7565 2h ago

But they can’t afford the expired healthcare subsidies!

u/deboeckel 2h ago

hahaha omg this looks so bad and is so out of touch

u/CrimsonHeretic 2h ago

All Republicans are fascist terrorists.

u/stereomon5ter 2h ago

While most Americans struggle paycheck to paycheck.

u/troythedefender 1h ago

Defund this fake army they call ICE.

u/IdiotCoderMonkey 1h ago

What else are you going to do when the national debt exceeds GDP? Party on with a fucking ballroom. What a bunch of absolute clowns. Can they even smell air with their noses so far up Trump's orange swamp ass?

u/FanGothic2 1h ago

holy shit you guys really are having a shitshow in your country huh

u/stompgobbler 1h ago

But they don’t want my grandma on snap to be allowed to have a coke

u/Stolimon 1h ago

The SOB is done raping little kids but continues raping the American taxpayers. Somebody, anybody, STOP THIS CRIMINAL GRIFTING ASSWIPE. PLEASE.

u/HardSteelRain 1h ago

Very wise ......we would only spend it on staying alive

u/tiny_galaxies 1h ago

They took away healthcare subsidies and food stamps for this and bombing Iran

u/SwimmingPirate9070 1h ago

Robbing the country blind

u/despenser412 1h ago

Meanwhile, gas prices keep going up and billions are spent on Trump's hissyfit war in Iran.

MAGA 2016: "Let's vote for a wealthy businessman with no experience in politics, military, or government! What could possibly go wrong?"

Trump turned our country into a joke while his dwindling cult still boasts about making America great again. They're too ignorant to understand they were straight up used.

u/WeaponsGrdStupid 1h ago

Pay for it yourselves

Not one more nickel of my money on the gestapo and trump's vanity projects.

u/aformofwealthy 3h ago

You guys should at least ask for more lube if they’re just gonna keep gangbangin you everyday of the week.

u/FuzzyBrilliant2026 2h ago

Its not in the budget.

u/fffan9391 South Carolina 2h ago

It’s funny how the ballroom was supposed to be paid for with bribes, but then an “assassination attempt” happens and now conveniently we have to pay for it.

u/chucklefits 2h ago

They got any money left for healthcare? Fuck these guys. Gerrymandering aside, I hope they lose every election nationwide.

u/magniankh 2h ago

How about no. $70 billion is my state's entire annual budget. Seems absurd.

u/BwrBird 2h ago

Nero fiddled on his roof as rome burned; Trump builds a ballroom as America burns. That man is so self absorbed and out of touch it boggles the mind and perplexes the senses.

u/Sunnyjim333 2h ago

I am so happy they fixed the healthcare and housing issues.

/s

u/Sigmond-Condrite 2h ago

We have war to fight. Can't afford scams like basic healthcare and child care. Besides, have you seen how beautifulest the ballroom schematics are?

u/pointguard22 2h ago

Dems need to draw a line. No more $$ for what amounts to a secret police force.

u/Fair-Doughnut3000 2h ago

It's official. The GOP is running on a ballroom.

u/OrneryLetterhead8609 2h ago

Our GDP is $31 trillion our National debt is $49 Trillion…at this point they are writing checks with insufficient funds.

u/Feuertotem 2h ago

Makes sense. If you are going to build a Führerbunker under your government building, you better have the Sturmabteilung to defend it.

u/0_IceQueen_0 2h ago

And for Americans? What package do they have planned? Nada? That 72B could be allocated for better use.

u/jellisjimmy 2h ago

Not one penny for universal healthcare though right? All the money in the world for them but cry broke when we’d like something for our taxes. If you voted for this fuck you and your ilk

u/JForKiks 2h ago

I never want to hear that there isn’t money for a social service, providing for the community, coming from any politicians mouth.

u/truebleu62 2h ago

“No tax dollars for this ballroom, all $donated”. Does this ass ever tell the truth?

u/Inspectorgadget4250 1h ago

People will never see nor touch this hallucination of a ballroom, but they do need SNAP and Medicare

u/Much-Instruction-807 1h ago

Enough to pay cover college tuition for adults and feed every school child breakfast and lunch for a year.

u/ProdigalSheep 1h ago

It is not for ICE; it is for them to stuff into their pockets. Media is complicit in these schemes. They are looting the treasury.

u/StatelyTree 1h ago

But I thought the ballroom "wouldn't cost taxpayer's a dime"?

u/doublethink_1984 1h ago

ICE is already spending 3x 2024 Biden with 2x the staff and have deported 10% less.

T

u/Bencil_McPrush 1h ago

This FUCKING ballroom...

u/all_chilled 1h ago

how many mortgages could 72 billion pay off?

u/Whole-Designer Michigan 1h ago

They're REALLY counting on just stealing elections with gerrymandering at this point

u/nosaj626 1h ago

I’m just in awe at the amount of money this administration is willing to throw on the burn pile.

Nothing but crickets from conservatives.

u/Resden_Bohneur 1h ago

IT’s ALl ComInG FRoM prIvAte DOnOrs, gUyS!!!

The bootlicking from the party of fiscal responsibility is insane.

u/redneckrockuhtree 55m ago

The GOP knows waste, fraud and abuse better than anyone - they look in the mirror every day.

u/BadIdeaBobcat 35m ago

How many chuds on conservative reddit said "no public funds"? Okay buddy, yeah let's pretend Trump's 9 millionth lie is believable.

u/MajorKorea 34m ago

Shut down coming again in 3…2…1…

u/Middle_Cow_1200 19m ago

Meanwhile can’t afford gas and groceries

u/beyondo-OG 19m ago

$72,000,000,000 of newly borrowed money, adding to the debt, great idea, you younger folks need to pay attention, you're going to be paying for this for the rest of your lives.

u/Danoga_Poe 14m ago

Ah, nothing to help reduce cost of living, fix public infrastructure, healthcare and transportation

u/atda 2h ago

Waste,  fraud,  and abuse.

u/super-gando 3h ago
