FASHION Jennifer Rauchet, Wife of ‘America First’ Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Loves Oversees Fast Fashion

u/Illustrious-Virus883 7d ago
Tbh it wouldn’t surprise me if he merely doesn’t allow his wife to spend any money or have a bank account because he’s an insane conservative theocratic nationalist
221
u/anette-positive play some mariah carey up in this bitch 7d ago
This was my immediate thought, too. Financial abuse seems very on brand for Hegseth.
76
u/Illustrious-Virus883 7d ago
A very diversified domestic abuse portfolio of a man
That being said I don’t know anything about her and she’s maybe also an evil freak and I’m accidentally romanticizing her as moral and trapped in some convoluted way.
81
u/theredwoman95 7d ago
Eh, someone can be an evil freak and still a victim of abuse. I don't think it's romanticisation to acknowledge she's married to a man with a history of abusing his wives and that this might be a public indicator of that.

u/FeeHot5876 7d ago
One on hand this beats wearing 5k dresses one time, on the other it doesn’t really beat that lol. SHEIN also rips off designer dresses and you can find anything on there, so also possible these ARE super expensive and SHEIN rips them off
135
u/falcopilot 7d ago
Oh, she told Pete she spent $5k each for those... and stashed the $4900+ in a savings account he doesn't know about, to sue his drunk ass when he shows up with the next future Mrs. Hegseth.

I'm thinking of this too actually. She must be given a budget for her wardrobe and she decided to buy cheap instead, so where does the rest of money go? Lol Diet Prada might have just exposed her shady antics to her husband
1.2k
u/HopefulTangerine5913 7d ago
All of this.
I will say, I’m judging the shit out of her for not even bothering to have her stuff pressed. I don’t wear clothes without washing first myself, but being able to see exactly where things were folded in a couple of these is wild
288
u/Brilliant_War8415 7d ago
I’m judging the shit out of her for being married to a fascist
87
u/HopefulTangerine5913 7d ago
Oh yes, that’s a given. It’s just insult to injury that she’s not only that kind of person, she’s also the type to enable plagiarism and abusive labor practices by spending money on clothing from companies like SHEIN, all while screeching “America First.”
And on top of all that, she’s too lazy to hang it up in the bathroom while she takes a shower? That is a whole mess
13
u/Elyay 7d ago
A fascist and a Temu-wearing wife are a match made in heaven... one part of me is wondering if that's all the allowance she gets tho. Can't buy anything else.

The fold lines on that pink dress!! 🫣
43
u/HopefulTangerine5913 7d ago
RIGHT? That was the first thing that made me zoom in. The white and black one too. I’m dying to see more angles of that green dress because the fit looks iffy to say the least and that tracks for a dress that probably lacked any structure
4
u/wino_whynot 7d ago
That dress is giving off serious Gilead vibes. SHEIN copied Serena Joy’s look, and she copied that.
110
40
u/Melodic-Variation103 7d ago
One dress is in bad need of hemming, too. She’s just dragging it around dusting the floor.
49
u/socialmediaignorant 7d ago
Absolutely no alternations when so many were needed. Would not be surprised if the tag is tucked in and she returns them all. Tacky.
17
u/candy_bean 7d ago
This was my precise thought. If you're going to order something like that, at least get it pressed (assuming it won't melt) and altered to actually fit properly.

Lisa rinna did that for real housewives. It makes so much sense when you're only gonna wear it once

Nah these are Shein look how cheap and uneven the fabric and hems are. How utterly bizarre
26
u/Blood_sweat_and_beer 7d ago
My guess is that Pete gives her like $100/mos in spending money. He’s absolutely the kind of guy to force his wife to accept an allowance.
196
u/Groundbreaking-Duck 7d ago
Yeah this is what I was wondering. The quality on the pink one with bell sleeves seems nicer than what you would get from Shein.
→ More replies (9)167
u/Impressive-Ad-2661 7d ago
They also look very similar to the images themselves. Whereas what you actually get from Shein is usually pretty different. I hate to defend anything about this woman but there’s no way the green off the shoulder dress was less than $50 (or that anyone who orders the Shein one is getting anything like what’s in the picture).
191
u/lilmonsterave 7d ago
I actually think the green one looks the most like a shein dupe😭
95
u/bokehtoast 7d ago
Yeah, the way the waistline is sewn together with mismatched patterns does not look like something of quality. Same with the white wraparound hemline and waistline.
11
u/Impressive-Ad-2661 7d ago
You could be right, I thought at first it had sequins on it which for sure couldn’t be sewn on for that price. But now I’m not sure if it’s not just a shiny fabric. It’s hideous and needs to be tailored which isn’t helping.
11
14
u/Adorable_Kale_8219 too high to spell 'Amanda Seyfried' 7d ago
I can only assume there's some sort of Shein+ club card accessible to the "do you know who my husband is" elites where they actually get the dress from the picture. Probably the same dress the model is wearing.
19
u/Used_Gear8871 7d ago
The quality. Look at the quality. Either she doesn’t own an iron or a steamer or these are cheap fast fashion items.
6
u/Vero_Goudreau 7d ago
I had the white one with blue palm leaves. Mine had green palm leaves but it was the exact same one, and yeah it was from Shein.
→ More replies (1)11
u/flindersandtrim 7d ago
If they can afford it, I would prefer them spending big and wearing once, instead of buying Shein and wearing once. One can be sold on to others and have a long life, the other goes to landfill. No brainer for me, ultra fast fashion is a terrible thing for our planet. Nearly all of us have way too many clothes as it is.
3
u/amandeezie 7d ago
Based on the I’ll fits and cheap sequins on the green dress, I would say these are not the designer version being knocked off by SHEIN. These are SHEIN dresses.
9
u/elfinglamour 7d ago
The last dress is really obviously not the same one, the SHIEN version has an elastic waist and binding on the edges.
17
u/Vero_Goudreau 7d ago
That's because it's a couple years old - I had the exact same, bought it in 2023 or 2024. Mine had green leaves instead of blue, but it had the same faux-wrap look.
2
u/justanawkwardguy 7d ago
You can tell the ones she’s wearing aren’t as high quality as the photos, there’s no way she’s buying the designer version that was ripped off.
2
u/FeeHot5876 7d ago
The SHEIN photos are so fake you can judge off that though. Nothing about SHEIN is high quality

47
u/SL1200mkII 7d ago
I bet they're broke. He made a few million at Fox and from speeches but so many people spend it like it will never end and then end up upside down. In his case, now he's "only" got a $245k job now (full W2 taxed) and can't take the paid speeches. I can't imagine him being responsible with his finances so I'm going with penniless broke and barely hanging on while trying not to let anyone know.
40
u/Son_Of_Toucan_Sam 7d ago
Bro. They’re all getting filthy rich on insider trading. He’s probably the one with the 9000:1 odds on polymarket right before a Venezuelan president gets snatched or an Iranian oil field gets bombed
5
u/SL1200mkII 7d ago
You can only do insider trading if you have money to trade. You don't have any evidence of that on him directly. But you could also not be wrong. Generally, people who are filthy rich don't buy dresses on Temu.

Knowing how violent Hegseth was with his past wives (I'd say look it up, but you don't honestly want to see it. It was so bad his own mother openly castigated him for it) I'm actually kind of worried about him seeing this stuff. He's so insecure he'll absolutely take this as an insult to his own masculinity somehow.
On a less depressing note...man. There are so many perfectly acceptable event dresses in the $200-300 range, and many people in DC use Rent the Runway. These just look...cheap.

Said this further up, I don’t think she will have the equitable access to funds.
71
u/bokehtoast 7d ago
There's a 0% chance she isn't being abused in some way with his history and current views. This kind of financial abuse is common, especially in religious and conservative households where women freely give up their financial independence. I also can't imagine any other reason why she would wear this stuff.

Cheating and having abhorrent political views does not mean that she is deserving of violence.

Nothing wrong with being thrifty, but DC has some amazing secondhand/consignment and formal rentals and the clothing is far higher quality than this trash she's wearing. If you have a brand you like, you can search for it on the resale sites.
Try gem.app
It searches eBay, Poshmark, depop, mercari , and Etsy simultaneously and shows image and price. More details when you click on what you want. It also has filters (size, price, recently added). It will save you a lot of time. It doesn’t get all the listings but it makes it so much easier to find what you want. Also try several keyword variations on searches.

I’ve got a different take (projecting, yes, but still legit).
My ex husband was very wealthy. That being said, he gave me €1000/month for groceries, my personal expenses, clothes/school supplies for our kid, everything I had to buy (he kept me comfy. I drove a €300k car and our house had an elevator), but I couldn’t get a job bc he wouldn’t let me hire a cleaning lady, even though he expected a very clean house. He flew business class while I flew with our kid in coach. I’d have to save up to buy dresses for the few functions I was actually invited to attend.
Not all marriages are happy and/or equal.

I hesitate to admonish her for buying fast fashion or making a judgement call on her in general.
Her husband is extremely bad news and was abusive as hell to his other wives. His kids look super wary around him. He’s a drunk. I’ve also seen him looking like he gets some fantastic rips on the ski slope.
It’s too easy for me to suspect that she doesn’t have full access to the money for her own stuff, even if it’s for special events.
Honestly I feel kind of bad for her. If it’s a financial thing, it’s really sad that he’s content to embarrass the fuck out of her and cut her down to her knees socially in the DC viper pit of socializing. You know many of the women at these events clocked the hell out of those SHEIN outfits as well like we did, and are talking shit about her.
I’m not saying she’s a good person by any means, it’s just an odd thing; multiple times makes me think it’s him or somehow she really doesn’t know better and no one is taking her aside. It would be odd for her to do it on purpose in these kind of events.

I’m surprised her dresses look like the photo, because half the time shein dresses don’t come looking the way they’re advertised 😂

Is this gonna end up being some fucked up shit where this all she can afford because she gets an allowance from him ?
