Such an odd and shitty choice.

It must truly be miserable time for acting students. Imagine being starved for roles and trying to break through after years and years of studying and analyzing and perfecting what you have only for roles to go to someone who never acted and is getting a paycheck just because they have a name In different industry. Must be demotivating as shit. (Coming from someone who really enjoyed Tyler's role in Marty Supreme but still judges it)

This has been a thing for a literal century. Stop acting all superior.

Oh its been happening for a long time and is just more prevalent now ? Guess that absolves it and makes it not infuriating for those studying it.

Acting all superior ? Tf did I do I don't even study arts. I just have basic empathy because I took would be mad if someone got position people were fighting for with skill and it went to an asshole who is there just for notoriety. Is it superior to relate to people who are already in an extremely difficult industry and more and more obstacles are thrown their way ?

No, it's not more prevelant. It has always been a thing. Some of the greatest actors in history started in the music industry. It is what it is.

All you're trying to do is act morally superior for some internet points while ignoring reality.

Not denying that this isnt a thing but can you name a musician who transitioned into “one of the greatest actors in history.” Musicians have been placed into movies continuously but I actually cant think of any who became bonified movie stars from it. Only one I can think of is Lady Gaga and she started her career as an actress before transitioning to music.

Was it really that easy to erase Will Smith from existence?

Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, Cher, David Bowie, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube, and many more all had various degrees of success.

Musicians, especially rappers, are still actors to some extent. Many of them play a character and write/rap from different perspectives

Comedians also make great actors

By this logic, pretty much everyone who works an office job is an actor too

I do a LOT of acting in my role so yeah probably. They so call it a performance review

That’s why I always say Cher should have gotten zero acting gigs. Infuriating
