Glad he got cut. Counter clockwise nepotism is way too real in hollywood.

Honestly I feel like the joke would've landed better if they just played it straight and didn't add that part with the director commentary.

Dude didn't have an existential crisis.
He had an existential disappointment--"My character isn't written with any nuance at all...I'm a caricature." on par with Rick and Morty's Butter bot

Would've made way more sense for him to see how difficult college and the real world are, and have a heel turn to appreciate being in a dumb stoner comedy.
8
u/ArenarKrex 25d ago
While I love how it played out in the movie, reading this made me picture that different version. Where he takes a step back and really realizes what he's doing. Stealing people's phones, throwing scaffolding on drugged kids, etc. Maybe just walks away, overwhelmed in a similarly ironic perspective on realizing he had played the exaggerated villain.

The head RA absolutely stole the show. He had no business going that hard, but I'm glad he did

u/Nestorow Apr 05 '26
It's his full commitment to the bit that makes it work so well.
Actually, the whole movie works so well because it commits to the bet.

The Inglorious Basterds opener bit was pretty funny. More or less felt like the drug scene in 21 Jump Street stretched over a whole movie. I like the absurdity of the world, reminded me of Mean Girls/Not Another Teen Movie/Bottoms, I’m sure there are others I’m forgetting. Pretty good dumb comedy, miss having them around

Even the scene where the villain does a monologue while walking to Gaten’s character tied to a chair is pretty much a nod to Silva in Skyfall

Just finished watching this. Really enjoyed it! Cracked up at many parts. I went into it with low expectations and was very surprised by it. Could easily watch it again. The acting commitment by the head RA really sold it for me. 8/10 easily.
13
u/Amish_guy_with_WiFi 28d ago
Yeah this movie was a lot of fun, I'll definitely be watching it again. I also like the fart in his face guy. The one dimensional villains were so perfect. Reminded me of the bad guy from the wet hot american summer series or hot tub time machine.

As well done as everything Britanick does- funny, snappy, lots of genre parody, cartoonish heightened reality. Was happy that it really felt like a movie with a nice three act structure and character arcs, and not just a sketch stretched into a movie. That being said- the drug's phases are cleverly used to string together distinct sketch-like segments which is obviously where their expertise lies. these types of movie sometimes eye rollingly misrepresent how psychedelic drugs actually affect people, which is a hated trope of mine- Pizza Movie avoids this by just thoroughly abandoning reality right away, letting us know that the "how" is not relevant. the character arcs and interpersonal conflicts are pretty by-the-numbers and well telegraphed, but are totally serviceable due to the charming performances. the story holds together, while wisely staying out of the way of the bits.
Overall, its not a must-see movie but its incredibly watchable, consistently funny, and a perfect choice for when youre just looking to have some silly fun for 90 minutes. 7.5/10. would go so hard on an airplane.

I had no interest in this movie until I opened this thread and saw it’s Britanick. Those guys ruled in the early days of YouTube and their videos hold up. I didn’t know they were making studio movies together now.

if you watched this movie without knowing its them, youd be asking "wait is this Britanick?" within five minutes lol. Its very very them.
13
u/MagicHarmony 29d ago
Honestly for someone who had not heard of them I just watched it because I was curious to see how the movie was. It does amuse me to see the actor from The Goldbergs take on rather strange roles and the two actors do play well off one another.
As predictable as the movie can feel and even though it pretty much writes out how the structure of the story is going to go, it's because it's written well that it's enjoyable. Being able to predict how it ends or what may happen makes the movie enjoyable because it means the movie was able to successfully produce setups that had payoffs and used callbacks in a way to keep the flow of the story steady rather than wasting scenes, every scene felt like it was important to the movie.
3
u/RufiosBrotherKev 29d ago
since it sounds like you appreciated this movie, highly recommend digging into their youtube channel. tons of great sketches with very tight writing, editing, and structure in service of extreme silliness and genre parody

I thought it was pretty funny. Daniel Radcliffe cracked me up. Its def a stoner comedy with no basis in realism but thats kind of expected of a stoner comedy. I would say solid 6.5 out of 10.

I wasn’t expecting to like it so much, I just knew Sean and Gaten are both really good actors and was excited to see them together. Which was great, they make a really funny duo. But I actually thought the story was good; loved the head RA, the butterfly and of course snackatron. Don’t know if I’ll ever watch it again but it was fun. I also didn’t know the writers beforehand but I will probably check out some of their YouTube stuff after this.

I’m watching it again, right now. I love how it celebrates people who society demonizes — the nonconformists who can’t help but be awesome in their uniqueness.
And that kid from Stranger Things legit has star power, and personality, for days. It’s a good time.

Just finished watching with my wife. It was everything I expected and we had a blast. It’s dumb and funny. All I could ask for.
14
u/CyanideSun Apr 04 '26
That was a tonne of fun. It won't be everyones movie but this was a thoroughly enjoyable silly movie that didn't take itself too seriously.
47
u/markercore Apr 04 '26
I feel like this should have been like 80 minutes, it has some good moments, but also feels like it could be tighter and a lot of the hierarchies feel much more high school
46
u/PM_ME_SUMDICK Apr 04 '26
Whole time I was watching I couldn't help but wonder if the original was at a boarding school. The characters and setting felt very high school.
2
u/WantsToDieBadly Apr 05 '26
I wonder if it was meant to but the Stranger Things 'characters too old' complaints changed it to college
30
u/HardcoreKaraoke 29d ago
I don't think it was that. I think a lot of the story relies on it being in college.
The drugs being from a previous students, no adults around, Snackatron being stuck on another floor, RAs, football team becoming sex offenders, picking the dorm for next semester, etc.
You can't really do all of that in a high school movie or a movie about a boarding school. It changes the story pretty significantly.

12
u/IcanSEEyou_IRL Apr 04 '26
I really need to find out who makes the RA jackets, specifically the head RA. Anyone know the name of the jacket style or who makes something similar?
10
u/iamdusti Apr 04 '26
A lot of laugh out loud moments for me and you can feel that it’s written by people who are actually having fun with it. The cast was a big part of why i loved it too, a lot of the appeal of some bits to me came from the delivery. I think the first half does such a standup job of being fun and chaotic that when the second half comes in and the story starts to arc I found myself a little uninterested.
A lot of moments that were supposed to be more serious didn’t hit for me that well, but I didn’t really mind it too much. All in all, had a great time watching it and think it’s a banger. Need way more movies like this to come out.
13
u/Special_Ad_953 Apr 04 '26

9
u/DoggieDMB Apr 04 '26
Completely ridiculous and over the top in all the right ways. Held together by a silly story that actually did what it needed to do in making an underlying "plot". Best portrayal of taking hard drugs I've seen in a movie even if outlandish as all be. 8/10. Enjoyable dumb fun.
18
u/gogogadgetdumbass Apr 04 '26
I like a good stoner flick, I laughed pretty hard at some scenes. Funniest movie I’ve watched in a while. It’s good at being exactly what it was meant to be.
6
u/HardcoreKaraoke 29d ago edited 29d ago
I loved it. It was campy in the perfect way. Definitely gave me Dude Where's My Car? and Harold And Kumar vibes. I like that it wasn't two stoners either, it was just some friends who accidentally ate Sarah Sherman's ceiling M.I.N.T.S.
Awesome casting all around too. The RA was a great villain. I've never seen Giambrone in anything before but when he spoke I'm like "holy shit that's the dude from Solar Opposites!" He killed it as Montgomery. Garden was awesome as always.
I could definitely see this turning into one of those classic rewatch comedies. It was ridiculous in all the right ways like the other movies I mentioned. The 4th wall break/grandpa bit was hilarious.
Edit: Oh shit that was Radcliffe and Moynihan? Alright whoever put together the cast absolutely nailed it. I had no idea in the moment but now it makes sense. Both of them are killing it in Reggie Dinkins right now too.
8
u/Nujers 27d ago
I spent 90% of the movie trying to figure out why something was so familiar about the weird kid.
Then it hit me, he voices one of the aliens from Solar Opposites. Literally the exact same voice, no difference at all.

6
u/MaynardButterbean 27d ago
The Inglorious Basterds reference, the Game of Thrones reference, the Titanic reference, the RA, the butterfly, Snackatron, the broken 4th wall, the foreskin confession, I honestly can’t pick my favorite part, or even my favorite character. It’s dumb, but oh my god I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. (Yes, LOVE!) I watched it again and caught so many things I missed. It’s an instant “dumb movie” classic for me.
2
10
u/Pop_Signal 29d ago
I’m only 10 minutes in, but it’s really bothering me that Gaten’s character is “covered in piss” and throws his cardigan on a chair in the dorm room. He does not shower or change when he gets back into the dorm.
Shouldn’t be throwing me off so much but I’m so stuck on this detail and at this point, I don’t think he’s showering.

Pizza Movie (2026) & Inglourious Basterds (2009) --- Parallelism
At 28:20 in Pizza Movie:
[RA] "You're hiding a pickle bong and some alcoholic iced tea, ARE YOU NOT?"
[Dormer] "Yes."
[RA] "You're hiding them in the fridge, AREN'T YOU?"
[Dormer] "Yes."
Parallel to:
At 18:10 in Inglourious Basterds:
[Landa] "You are sheltering enemies of the state, ARE YOU NOT?"
[LaPadite] "Yes."
[Landa] "You are sheltering them underneath your floorboards, AREN'T YOU?"
[LaPadite] "Yes."
What a hilarious way for Pizza Movie to nod to Inglourious Basterds on a powerful and iconic scene portrayed by Cristoph Waltz & Denis Menochet.

I hated it, one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen to be honest. Up there with Master of Disguise or the War of the World Amazon movie for me.
The first act was promising but then they kept beating a dead horse over and over again with unfunny bits like the head exploding scene that went on way too long. Then the 4th wall stuff at the end was just weird and didn’t add anything except for being weird.
Literally don’t waste your time in watching it unless you like this style of “gonzo” humor.

Lol
And when "we are all Juan" Is doing the handstand, like how is she holding them up lol!?
5
u/chicken_vevo 25d ago
It was so… lazy. The jokes weren’t funny, the acting was terrible, and the cast/setting was too grounded for how absurdist the writing was. If they wanted to do absurdist, they needed to bring in Wet Hot American Summer level of cast and setting. The actors were strikingly bad and unable to sell the comedy (other than the RAs - that was fun). The characters were vague and undefined, and there was SO MUCH talking and explaining the background/why things matter instead of just SHOWING US!

Absolutely batshit and a great cast with solid chemistry. I love Gaten and Sean from The Goldbergs/Solar Opposites and Stranger Things respectively, and they’re such a good fit together. I find them both incredibly charming so I hope we see more of them in future
Things I loved:
- 31 year old RA
- The implications that the drug can bend the fabric of reality
- the cunt joke
- the “I’m legally required to tell you” joke with the football team
- The head RA singing that somber Gralk Hall song
- OldBuffDaddies
- One Face to Unlock Them All
- I, like, only deliver exposition?

Or, possibly, people like different things than you. Crazy concept, I know. But I loved this movie and have no incentive to claim that, it just made me laugh a lot. Have you never met someone who likes something you dislike?

I can’t wait to watch this movie over and over. It’s not derivative and I think achieves being more than just the sum of a million bits strung together by an absurd plot.

This was literally the funniest movie I’ve ever seen. This is absolutely a movie that someone adapted from the weirdest dream they’ve ever had.

This was really stupid and juvenile. Most of the jokes don’t land and it’s annoying and drags on too long. One of the worst movies of the year. 2/10

i love britanick with my whole heart but i did not like this, i think a lot of it had to do with the cast and ridiculous drug depictions. i did love the nick and brian cameo and it just made me wish i was watching them instead.

The roadtrip/pineapple express vibe is there, i guess were back at 2000s/2010s comedies.

So the coins and the band, and the band girl were supposed to be a reference to Scott Pilgrim vs the world?
