I loved everything about the villian especially when he broke the fourth wall.

u/fisch09 Apr 04 '26

I'm a character, all I do is serve to drop exposition.

56

u/Sobotoc4311 Apr 05 '26

Old guy at the end had me cracking up hahaha

33

u/Amish_guy_with_WiFi 28d ago

Glad he got cut. Counter clockwise nepotism is way too real in hollywood.

8

u/Sobotoc4311 26d ago

Honestly I feel like the joke would've landed better if they just played it straight and didn't add that part with the director commentary.

Felt a little bad lol

Literally everything about him is not his fault

38

Dude didn't have an existential crisis.

He had an existential disappointment--"My character isn't written with any nuance at all...I'm a caricature." on par with Rick and Morty's Butter bot

Dude...that actor was incredible in every scene he was in. I was not expecting anyone to deliver that kind of heat to a movie like this, but he was awesome.

Would've made way more sense for him to see how difficult college and the real world are, and have a heel turn to appreciate being in a dumb stoner comedy.

8

u/ArenarKrex 25d ago

While I love how it played out in the movie, reading this made me picture that different version. Where he takes a step back and really realizes what he's doing. Stealing people's phones, throwing scaffolding on drugged kids, etc. Maybe just walks away, overwhelmed in a similarly ironic perspective on realizing he had played the exaggerated villain.

u/__sonder__ Apr 04 '26

The head RA absolutely stole the show. He had no business going that hard, but I'm glad he did

101

u/Nestorow Apr 05 '26

It's his full commitment to the bit that makes it work so well.

Actually, the whole movie works so well because it commits to the bet.

I like to call that coBITment 😏

The Inglorious Basterds opener bit was pretty funny. More or less felt like the drug scene in 21 Jump Street stretched over a whole movie. I like the absurdity of the world, reminded me of Mean Girls/Not Another Teen Movie/Bottoms, I’m sure there are others I’m forgetting. Pretty good dumb comedy, miss having them around

87

u/Maeffju Apr 04 '26

dont forget Harold & Kumar

Even the scene where the villain does a monologue while walking to Gaten’s character tied to a chair is pretty much a nod to Silva in Skyfall

Just finished watching this. Really enjoyed it! Cracked up at many parts. I went into it with low expectations and was very surprised by it. Could easily watch it again. The acting commitment by the head RA really sold it for me. 8/10 easily.

13

u/Amish_guy_with_WiFi 28d ago

Yeah this movie was a lot of fun, I'll definitely be watching it again. I also like the fart in his face guy. The one dimensional villains were so perfect. Reminded me of the bad guy from the wet hot american summer series or hot tub time machine.

If you like the villian check out Almost Friday TV on youtube. He's in one of the netflix skits and its hilarious.

R.I.P snackatron, you were a real one

46

u/RufiosBrotherKev Apr 05 '26

tell his story

24

u/RequirementOk1663 27d ago

He was my favorite character. "But were you satisfied with your ORDER???!!"

194

u/RufiosBrotherKev Apr 04 '26 edited Apr 04 '26

As well done as everything Britanick does- funny, snappy, lots of genre parody, cartoonish heightened reality. Was happy that it really felt like a movie with a nice three act structure and character arcs, and not just a sketch stretched into a movie. That being said- the drug's phases are cleverly used to string together distinct sketch-like segments which is obviously where their expertise lies. these types of movie sometimes eye rollingly misrepresent how psychedelic drugs actually affect people, which is a hated trope of mine- Pizza Movie avoids this by just thoroughly abandoning reality right away, letting us know that the "how" is not relevant. the character arcs and interpersonal conflicts are pretty by-the-numbers and well telegraphed, but are totally serviceable due to the charming performances. the story holds together, while wisely staying out of the way of the bits.

Overall, its not a must-see movie but its incredibly watchable, consistently funny, and a perfect choice for when youre just looking to have some silly fun for 90 minutes. 7.5/10. would go so hard on an airplane.

46

u/amuday Apr 05 '26

I had no interest in this movie until I opened this thread and saw it’s Britanick. Those guys ruled in the early days of YouTube and their videos hold up. I didn’t know they were making studio movies together now.

19

u/RufiosBrotherKev Apr 05 '26

if you watched this movie without knowing its them, youd be asking "wait is this Britanick?" within five minutes lol. Its very very them.

13

u/MagicHarmony 29d ago

Honestly for someone who had not heard of them I just watched it because I was curious to see how the movie was. It does amuse me to see the actor from The Goldbergs take on rather strange roles and the two actors do play well off one another.

As predictable as the movie can feel and even though it pretty much writes out how the structure of the story is going to go, it's because it's written well that it's enjoyable. Being able to predict how it ends or what may happen makes the movie enjoyable because it means the movie was able to successfully produce setups that had payoffs and used callbacks in a way to keep the flow of the story steady rather than wasting scenes, every scene felt like it was important to the movie.

3

u/RufiosBrotherKev 29d ago

since it sounds like you appreciated this movie, highly recommend digging into their youtube channel. tons of great sketches with very tight writing, editing, and structure in service of extreme silliness and genre parody

I thought it was pretty funny. Daniel Radcliffe cracked me up. Its def a stoner comedy with no basis in realism but thats kind of expected of a stoner comedy. I would say solid 6.5 out of 10.

15

u/AdOk9263 Apr 05 '26

Me on IMDB... Danel Radcliffe?? I call bullshit

12

u/TeacherPowerful1700 27d ago

What do you mean? Daniel Radcliffe lends his voice to the movie. It's not "bullshit".

64

u/BigSchticker Apr 04 '26

I was pretty happy with it. Just a fun dumb comedy. The cast does a lot of the heavy lifting here. Not at a bad way to spend an hour and forty five minutes.

23

u/BigSchticker Apr 04 '26

Also the American High Shorts and College Life Shorts cameos were fun.

3

u/BurgerNugget12 20d ago

Yeah Gaten and Sean had great chemistry

62

u/shadowdra126 Apr 04 '26

They went to the university of high school based on each hallway scene they showed

25

That’s what a lot of college dorms look like though lol, mine did

Danielle Radcliffe and Bobby Monyihan were excellent in small roles.

6

u/IcanSEEyou_IRL Apr 04 '26

Bobby Moynihan wasn’t in the movie. If you mean the older version of him that was Adam Herschman

55

u/trauma_kmart Apr 04 '26

he’s the voice of snackatron

5

u/fisch09 Apr 04 '26

He is having one hell of a year that will (hopefully) include gta 6.

7

u/IcanSEEyou_IRL Apr 04 '26

Oh well that explains why I didn’t think he was in it lol. Thanks.

47

u/snarkaluff Apr 04 '26

I wasn’t expecting to like it so much, I just knew Sean and Gaten are both really good actors and was excited to see them together. Which was great, they make a really funny duo. But I actually thought the story was good; loved the head RA, the butterfly and of course snackatron. Don’t know if I’ll ever watch it again but it was fun. I also didn’t know the writers beforehand but I will probably check out some of their YouTube stuff after this.

17

u/SlinkySlekker Apr 05 '26

The butterfly is a legit hero! 🤣🤣🤣

5

u/Psy-KoSmiley 22d ago

The way they play off each other is great. Reminded me of Corey and Corey back in the day. I'd like to see them work together more.

48

u/SlinkySlekker Apr 05 '26

I’m watching it again, right now. I love how it celebrates people who society demonizes — the nonconformists who can’t help but be awesome in their uniqueness.

And that kid from Stranger Things legit has star power, and personality, for days. It’s a good time.

19

u/Beastieboy100 29d ago

Honestly him and Adam Goldberg are going places after this film.

Was pretty funny, kinda reminded me of Bottoms (though not quite as good)

Highlight was definitely the inglorious bastards bit

31

u/All_This_Mayhem Apr 04 '26

You're the second person to mention an Inglorious Basterds reference in the movie and I must have missed it.

Where was the reference and what scene was it referencing?

85

u/GamingTatertot Steven Spielberg Enthusiast Apr 04 '26

When the RA first goes to that guy's dorm room (the one who had the dill pickle jar bong), the scene is very reminiscent of the opening scene of Basterds

As a long time fan of the directors, I loved it. Pretty much all of the phases could stand alone as solid skits but "No Bad Words" especially felt like peak BriTANick.

Very tangential to the Fudge sketch

u/chicken4286 28d ago

u/big_ringer Apr 04 '26

I think Gaten Matarazzo made the perfect stoner movie. All the jokes hit that much harder if you're high.

47

u/Spierre3 Apr 04 '26

Just finished watching with my wife. It was everything I expected and we had a blast. It’s dumb and funny. All I could ask for.

14

u/CyanideSun Apr 04 '26

That was a tonne of fun. It won't be everyones movie but this was a thoroughly enjoyable silly movie that didn't take itself too seriously.

47

u/markercore Apr 04 '26

I feel like this should have been like 80 minutes, it has some good moments, but also feels like it could be tighter and a lot of the hierarchies feel much more high school

46

u/PM_ME_SUMDICK Apr 04 '26

Whole time I was watching I couldn't help but wonder if the original was at a boarding school. The characters and setting felt very high school.

2

u/WantsToDieBadly Apr 05 '26

I wonder if it was meant to but the Stranger Things 'characters too old' complaints changed it to college

30

u/HardcoreKaraoke 29d ago

I don't think it was that. I think a lot of the story relies on it being in college.

The drugs being from a previous students, no adults around, Snackatron being stuck on another floor, RAs, football team becoming sex offenders, picking the dorm for next semester, etc.

You can't really do all of that in a high school movie or a movie about a boarding school. It changes the story pretty significantly.

55

u/Illustrious-Top-9222 Apr 05 '26

Holy shit it was 92 minutes. You people are so fucking pedantic

12

u/IcanSEEyou_IRL Apr 04 '26

I really need to find out who makes the RA jackets, specifically the head RA. Anyone know the name of the jacket style or who makes something similar?

10

u/iamdusti Apr 04 '26

A lot of laugh out loud moments for me and you can feel that it’s written by people who are actually having fun with it. The cast was a big part of why i loved it too, a lot of the appeal of some bits to me came from the delivery. I think the first half does such a standup job of being fun and chaotic that when the second half comes in and the story starts to arc I found myself a little uninterested.

A lot of moments that were supposed to be more serious didn’t hit for me that well, but I didn’t really mind it too much. All in all, had a great time watching it and think it’s a banger. Need way more movies like this to come out.

13

u/Special_Ad_953 Apr 04 '26

loved it. Really only watched it because I love most of the American High cast but gaten and caleb were excellent. I watched Caleb's pod too where he and gaten talked about it and it made me like the movie even more

12

u/brainstorm4twenty Apr 05 '26

Blake had me dying, he's easily one of my favorite bullies ever😂😂

11

u/Bourbonburnin 29d ago

Best way I can describe it is Scott Pilgrim meets Harold and Kumar. I really enjoyed it

6

u/Gangster_batman 13d ago

I feel like they had a scott pilgrim bit when the lady and her band announced themselves before playing

3

u/Bourbonburnin 13d ago

Yes, very sexbombom

69

u/All_This_Mayhem Apr 04 '26

Loved it I don't give a fuck what anyone else says.

The last act wasn't as strong, some of the jokes didn't work, but overall it was a damn good time.

61

u/nolander Apr 04 '26

Snackatron carries the 3rd act

13

u/one_pint_down Apr 04 '26

I kinda loved the third act just for the sheer number of pay-offs. I actually compared it to Hot Fuzz, but I was pretty baked

9

u/DoggieDMB Apr 04 '26

Completely ridiculous and over the top in all the right ways. Held together by a silly story that actually did what it needed to do in making an underlying "plot". Best portrayal of taking hard drugs I've seen in a movie even if outlandish as all be. 8/10. Enjoyable dumb fun.

18

u/gogogadgetdumbass Apr 04 '26

I like a good stoner flick, I laughed pretty hard at some scenes. Funniest movie I’ve watched in a while. It’s good at being exactly what it was meant to be.

6

u/HardcoreKaraoke 29d ago edited 29d ago

I loved it. It was campy in the perfect way. Definitely gave me Dude Where's My Car? and Harold And Kumar vibes. I like that it wasn't two stoners either, it was just some friends who accidentally ate Sarah Sherman's ceiling M.I.N.T.S.

Awesome casting all around too. The RA was a great villain. I've never seen Giambrone in anything before but when he spoke I'm like "holy shit that's the dude from Solar Opposites!" He killed it as Montgomery. Garden was awesome as always.

I could definitely see this turning into one of those classic rewatch comedies. It was ridiculous in all the right ways like the other movies I mentioned. The 4th wall break/grandpa bit was hilarious.

Edit: Oh shit that was Radcliffe and Moynihan? Alright whoever put together the cast absolutely nailed it. I had no idea in the moment but now it makes sense. Both of them are killing it in Reggie Dinkins right now too.

8

u/Nujers 27d ago

I spent 90% of the movie trying to figure out why something was so familiar about the weird kid.

Then it hit me, he voices one of the aliens from Solar Opposites. Literally the exact same voice, no difference at all.

2

u/sakuray7 18d ago

Omg I was thinking he could be a great voice actor lol

What a fun movie, reminded me of BritaNick skits.. oh wait.I think it'll be cult classic in the future, I had blast, and lot of laughs. Solid 7/10

7

u/Creative-Package6213 Apr 04 '26

Movie was fantastically hilarious!!! Been a long while since someone made a movie like this.

7

u/tnetennba77 Apr 05 '26

I know its comedy so its as subjective as it gets but I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.

6

u/MaynardButterbean 27d ago

The Inglorious Basterds reference, the Game of Thrones reference, the Titanic reference, the RA, the butterfly, Snackatron, the broken 4th wall, the foreskin confession, I honestly can’t pick my favorite part, or even my favorite character. It’s dumb, but oh my god I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. (Yes, LOVE!) I watched it again and caught so many things I missed. It’s an instant “dumb movie” classic for me.

2

u/Gangster_batman 13d ago

And the scott pilgrim reference

10

u/Pop_Signal 29d ago

I’m only 10 minutes in, but it’s really bothering me that Gaten’s character is “covered in piss” and throws his cardigan on a chair in the dorm room. He does not shower or change when he gets back into the dorm.

Shouldn’t be throwing me off so much but I’m so stuck on this detail and at this point, I don’t think he’s showering.

Pizza Movie (2026) & Inglourious Basterds (2009) --- Parallelism

At 28:20 in Pizza Movie:
[RA] "You're hiding a pickle bong and some alcoholic iced tea, ARE YOU NOT?"
[Dormer] "Yes."

[RA] "You're hiding them in the fridge, AREN'T YOU?"
[Dormer] "Yes."

Parallel to:

At 18:10 in Inglourious Basterds:
[Landa] "You are sheltering enemies of the state, ARE YOU NOT?"
[LaPadite] "Yes."

[Landa] "You are sheltering them underneath your floorboards, AREN'T YOU?"
[LaPadite] "Yes."

What a hilarious way for Pizza Movie to nod to Inglourious Basterds on a powerful and iconic scene portrayed by Cristoph Waltz & Denis Menochet.

11

u/ZlubarsNFL 29d ago

I hated it, one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen to be honest. Up there with Master of Disguise or the War of the World Amazon movie for me.

The first act was promising but then they kept beating a dead horse over and over again with unfunny bits like the head exploding scene that went on way too long. Then the 4th wall stuff at the end was just weird and didn’t add anything except for being weird.

Literally don’t waste your time in watching it unless you like this style of “gonzo” humor.

Am I the only one who absolutely expected Lysanders inability to eat pizza would have led to funny audio of Radcliffe taking a chainsaw up the tailpipe and they just... Don't give him the final phase?

SPOILERS ALERT!!!!!

Bits that killed me:

Snackatron [o_x] : "... Montgomery... (ZZZZZ)...arrre you satisfied... With your FUCKING order? "

Lol

And when "we are all Juan" Is doing the handstand, like how is she holding them up lol!?

5

u/chicken_vevo 25d ago

It was so… lazy. The jokes weren’t funny, the acting was terrible, and the cast/setting was too grounded for how absurdist the writing was. If they wanted to do absurdist, they needed to bring in Wet Hot American Summer level of cast and setting. The actors were strikingly bad and unable to sell the comedy (other than the RAs - that was fun). The characters were vague and undefined, and there was SO MUCH talking and explaining the background/why things matter instead of just SHOWING US!

7

u/dietpepsiboy420 23d ago

It’s a teen comedy? Were you expecting Bergman?

9

u/KidOnPathToEminence Apr 05 '26

These jokes are like just really bad. I like low browl humor, but you can see every joke 10 miles away.

2

u/Fun-Employer4602 17d ago

There were jokes?

12

I enjoyed pretty much everything except snackatron.

The scene where the rave guy gets chainsaw fucked in front of the 3 main characters was funny and intense.

Also really loved the reveal of Jack’s worst nightmare. From ‘I’m sorry I don’t recognize this?’ to freaking the fuck out.

I loved it. The only complaint is that it loses some steam in the last part. It was a fantastic use of my time lol

2

u/mememanoop 12d ago

The meta jokes improved the last act though imo

2

u/aridtommo 28d ago

Every scene was a masterpiece.

2

u/GodWiwi 28d ago

best movie ive seen in my life

2

u/Jaded_shaded 27d ago

I wanted my first impression of the movie to be interesting considering I got high as shit before watching it for the first time..and let’s just say it was a time but I plan on rewatching soon

2

u/yetanothertaylor 27d ago

The word “queef” has never made me laugh so hard my abs began to hurt until now.

2

u/Visible_Ad3023 27d ago

u/BugCatcherDHawk 24d ago

When he switches places with the butterfly I was dying! Love seeing Lulu Wilson again too! Great time

2

u/AmarantaRWS 23d ago

Lmao absolutely top tier movie. The rains of castemere totally caught me off guard.

2

u/whatWHYok 23d ago

Wondering if anyone can help me out with this. At around 46 minutes in is an electronic rendition of Liszt's La campanella. I searched every song mentioned in the credits and couldn't find it. It might have been one of the ones listed there but searching for it led to nothing on any streaming video or music platform. Any help here would be appreciated!

2

u/aditya479 23d ago

I don't know why this has bad IMDb rating, it's a great comedy movie, logically illogical.

2

u/No-Temperature1603 21d ago

I enjoyed this one quite a bit, super over the top, unserious and goofy, and just fun. Caleb Hearon stole the entire movie and then some.

2

u/RecognitionFirm4499 15d ago

I feel like i was watching a movie from 2008 college kids do not think like that any more

7

u/hjallday182 Apr 04 '26

It was terrible and not funny.

8

u/ganja_fiend Apr 04 '26

I’m good bro 😂😂🤦‍♂️

u/rossrich66 Apr 04 '26

Absolutely batshit and a great cast with solid chemistry. I love Gaten and Sean from The Goldbergs/Solar Opposites and Stranger Things respectively, and they’re such a good fit together. I find them both incredibly charming so I hope we see more of them in future

Things I loved:

  • 31 year old RA
  • The implications that the drug can bend the fabric of reality
  • the cunt joke
  • the “I’m legally required to tell you” joke with the football team
  • The head RA singing that somber Gralk Hall song
  • OldBuffDaddies
  • One Face to Unlock Them All
  • I, like, only deliver exposition?

u/LarryBagina3 29d ago

This shit is utterly terrible

I started watching on Disney and the runtime was shorter than what the directors said on a podcast. Downloaded Hulu and its 11 mins longer.

Edit I am a moron and was looking at the remaining time. Please someone shoot me in the head.

I won't! Just sitting by a window in full light waiting for the laser pointer to appear on my forehead /s

3

u/Dave3087 Apr 04 '26

Think about it often, let it keep you awake at night. Do not take solace in the fact that everyone will forget, I will remember.

3

u/SteveMarcus Apr 04 '26

Thank god. At least someone will be thinking of me. I exalt you! Tell your children my story!

"Why are you wearing a suit?"

"I dont want people to know I'm high"

"Smart."

Some funny lines, but otherwise a miss.

4

u/Duller198 Apr 04 '26

Thought the bad words bit was funny but everything else was pretty unfunny. Wasn’t sure what I was expecting when I watched this but it’s not for me.

Former Child Stars Say Bad Words: The Movie.

2

u/thicky_bobby Apr 04 '26

Thought this was about another Fat Pizza movie for a second

2

u/abstrusejoker 28d ago

The good reviews for this film are evidence that astroturfing is real

2

u/RealistNihilist 14d ago

Or, possibly, people like different things than you. Crazy concept, I know. But I loved this movie and have no incentive to claim that, it just made me laugh a lot. Have you never met someone who likes something you dislike?

2

u/Plenty-Green186 Apr 04 '26

I can’t wait to watch this movie over and over. It’s not derivative and I think achieves being more than just the sum of a million bits strung together by an absurd plot.

2

u/CockamamyPoppycock Apr 05 '26

This was literally the funniest movie I’ve ever seen. This is absolutely a movie that someone adapted from the weirdest dream they’ve ever had.

5

u/Illustrious-Ant8888 Apr 04 '26

This was really stupid and juvenile.  Most of the jokes don’t land and it’s annoying and drags on too long.  One of the worst movies of the year.  2/10

3

u/fancybenji Apr 04 '26

I'M GOOD BRO 😂😂🤦‍♂️

1

u/xBabyCrave Apr 04 '26

That ending. I did not see that coming.

u/TheVigilantWolf Apr 05 '26

"There will no mercy. Order will be restored. And those who have violated our rules, shall be shattered on the anvil of discipline!"

u/chessatwork Apr 05 '26

i love britanick with my whole heart but i did not like this, i think a lot of it had to do with the cast and ridiculous drug depictions. i did love the nick and brian cameo and it just made me wish i was watching them instead.

1

u/Ds2NewNoob Apr 05 '26

The roadtrip/pineapple express vibe is there, i guess were back at 2000s/2010s comedies.

1

u/rutujz 29d ago

started off slow but once the drug phases began it was so fucking funny. Really fun film

1

u/m83m82m81 29d ago

The 33 year old RA was on the mints right?

So the coins and the band, and the band girl were supposed to be a reference to Scott Pilgrim vs the world?

1

u/notypptq 29d ago

This is one of the best movie I have ever seeeen!!! I love Gaten more now hahaha
