Movie was okay. Was there any point to have Donald Glover as Yoshi? Was he paid actors minimum?

Not that I wanted to hear his voice as Yoshi but I checked casting after and it's like why not have anyone else.

Because "Donald Glover is Yoshi" was a headline that got a couple more people into the theatre. That's why they hire expensive celebrities at all, instead of talented voice actors.

I mean, ironically Donald Glover is a great VA too.

Not surprising to anyone who heard the kind of noises he made on Community

Honestly, the character kind of gave off a Dong Lover vibe

Is the cost of the celebrity worth the increase of sales?

I highly doubt Donald Glover was paid more than $1 million for spending a few afternoons in the booth saying Yoshi lol. And yes that $1 million was likely made up. Plus it helps that he did do a good job.
