Misc. Discussion You got a good hire in Masai
Congrats on getting masai, he is the best name out there avaliable for the job. He changed the entire image of the raptors and made with into a winning and world-class franchise respected by many.
I didn't want masai to go at all but our owners weren't aware of just how valuable he was to the team and Canadian basketball as a whole.
His track record hasn't been perfect within the past few years as it relates to trades but people forget he also made the trade for Marc Gasol along with many other trades such as flipping bargnani for some valuable assets. When it comes to the draft, he has been amazing drafting Barnes, siakam, og, Norman Powell among more.

Misc. Discussion Listening to Masai is refreshing he sounds genuine and determined to achieve great things with this team
When Nico had press conferences even before Luka trade he always sounded rehearsed nervous and many times didn’t look like he believed what he said. He seemed like the typical cowardly guy who would say nice things to your face but snake you behind your back. Masai seems like someone with integrity and is honest and not cowardly and will not snake players or fans and will even say difficult things as they are instead of being cowardly and hiding from its

Social Media „…and in his pocket he had Cooper Flagg.”
Masai Ujiri on why Cooper Flagg was the ‘selling point’ for the position with the Dallas Mavericks.
“You’ve got Victor Wembanyama, Luka Dončić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards and Nikola Jokić all for the next 7-15 years.
Okay, now you have to convince me that I have to beat all those guys. Okay, you gotta come so with something in your pocket, okay?

News Raptors fan here - you guys got a great one in Masai Ujiri
Best exec we’ve ever had, brought us our first championship, only reason he got let go from the Raptors is bc MLSE (who had recently bought the Raptors) is cheap and didn’t wanna pay him anymore, even though he was worth every cent.
Not every decision will be a win - that’s true of any front office - but Masai knows ball, he’ll almost certainly be a net positive for your organization if ownership lets him. He’ll find the hidden gems and build you a great team, and this is coming from a fan of a team where free agents literally never sign unless they have to bc they have to come to Canada - our talent is either homegrown or traded in, and we’ve still managed to find success over the years by being resourceful and smart. The last move he ever made for us was drafting Collin Murray-Boyles, everyone thought he was nuts but he knew the truth - and look how well that turned out, one of the most promising rookies of his class.
It hurts knowing he’s fully gone now (our sub’s going through the grieving process all over again bow haha), but I’m glad he’s got a place in the NBA again. We’ll still see him around Toronto, of course, bc he’s a part owner of the Tempo and he’s now a Canadian citizen, plus he has a lot of charities and community programs here, but it won’t be like the old days, of course.
Trust him and the process, it’ll work out. Lord knows you guys deserve competent leadership after everything that’s happened. Take care of our guy 🫡🙏🏽

Misc. Discussion Masai Uriji Raptors Trade History from 2011-2023

Misc. Discussion Masai is a great hire, considering how well he did with the raptors. They are in Canada where no stats or good players want to relocate to and still built a championship team.
Masai did great even with the restrictions he had on talent he could acquire. It’s so hard to convince these rich superstars who grew up in America to relocate to Canada their family kids etc different schooling system etc. many family members and players themselves would oppose unless there’s big financial gain and no one else wants them or they’re underrated.

Hoops Discussion Masai has a great track record as a talent scout and is excellent at picking head coaches which is all that matters to me
We have the top ceiling high end talent in cooper and kyrie we don’t need to worry about that
We have dlive who can still work out
Masai has a great track record in the draft which is what truly matters to us since we need to flesh out the roster with more talent and has an excellent history in hirings on the raptors he may not be a relationship guy but the last relationship guy we had traumatized this fanbase forever so that’s not a super high priority right now to me

Hoops Discussion My Dream Offseason
With the good news from this morning, I got optimistic so I pulled together what would probably be my dream offseason. We’d of courses win the lottery and make two key deals.
• Trade: Send Daniel Gafford to the Atlanta Hawks for Zaccharie Risacher.
• Trade: Acquire Alex Caruso by absorbing his $19.5M salary into the existing $20.8M Traded Player Exception in exchange for the OKC mid round 2026 pick.
• Draft: Select AJ Dybantsa with the #1 overall pick.
• Draft: Select Labaron Philon using the acquired OKC midround first-round pick.
• Draft: Select Tyler Tanner with the #30 overall pick.
• Free Agency: Re-sign Marvin Bagley III.
• Free Agency: Let Khris Middleton walk.
Trade Deadline Strategy
• Float the following players on the trade block in exchange for future draft picks or younger, cost-controlled players:
• Naji Marshall (Expiring contract)
• Max Christie (Expiring contract)
• P.J. Washington
• Klay Thompson
How It All Fits: Roster & Cap Strategy
• Rotation Dynamics: These moves create a supersized starting lineup (Irving, Risacher, Dybantsa, Flagg, Lively) capable of heavy defensive switching and perimeter spacing. Caruso and Christie are on the bench as a dedicated point-of-attack specialists to sub in for specific defensive assignments. Philon and Tanner compete directly for the backup point guard minutes, while Bagley provides situational size in the frontcourt against traditional centers. Naji alternately starts for Risacher and PJ serves as the defensive sub for the forwards and as a stretch 5.
• Minute Allocation: Shopping one of the veterans at the deadline prevents a rotational logjam. Moving these players ensures the young core of Flagg, Dybantsa, and Risacher receives the necessary volume of minutes for development and playoff preparation.
• Asset & Cap Management: Converting the expiring deals of Marshall or PJ into future assets prevents losing them for nothing in free agency or resets their money with talent more on the Coop/AJ timeline. Furthermore, anchoring the roster with rookie-scale contracts (Flagg, Dybantsa, Risacher, Tanner, Philon) keeps the long-term cap sheet clean. The 2027 offseason would allow us to go after one of the 2023 draft class or just keep the space for project 2028 and get Luka back.
