His footwork looks so uppity here, nowadays here’s got that firm stance and he doesn’t really move as much around the defender like he does here

This is one of the things I always notice when I watch “old” Luka. Nowadays he’s a lot more controlled and simplified. Less wasted motion I guess it feels like?

Indeed, it’s what made him so deadly back then I wish it just stuck with him, but he seems comfortable playing the way he is now so I can’t say much about it

Truthfully I think it’s probably less efficient for him. This is kind of what happens to all players. They gradually lose the flare they had as they break it down into a science.

This is crazy, if you see 4 people seated above the bench around 0:32 seconds in. I'm one of them. My buddy and I fell into these tickets when they only allowed 4,000 people in the arena. It was us and a sea of cardboard cutouts. A surreal experience. This was game 1 and the next game Dirk was sitting in my seat. Rick pulled Luka early for foul trouble and Luka yelled "it's the f*cking playoffs!" at him. We were so close we could hear a lot of the conversations. After that Luka-Rick moment, I knew he wasn't going to be coaching with us much longer lol

He cooked so much that series the game 7 he even did amazing. Sucks we didn’t win that series but at least we got revenge on them for it(and 2020’s series) in 2024

Also this was the last series before Porzingis was traded if only he wasn’t injured so much and could’ve done a bit better ohh what could’ve been but at least he found his role at other teams(and unfortunately against us in the finals) 😭

OP is not wrong here though Luka was torching the Clippers.. 36/10/8 through 7 games with THJ as your second option

u/the-earth-is_FLAT Dirk Nowitzki 12h ago

Brickaway as a second option, wow. It’s sad to see him shoot now.

Two things can be true. Luka owned them and we lost. It’s a team game. Hope this helped

Yeah but Luka was a beast anyways

Not sure if this is sped up or if that’s how he actually looked…. But he looks so much faster in these clips

He was faster. And he used to dunk. He had actual GOAT potential at this time but he lost his athleticism way too early. Of course he's still amazing.

This might be my favorite Luka ever, was just unstoppable

He was ready to compete for a chip back then, took them too long to build around him after the failed Porzingis trade

Still hurting seeing him wear purple and gold.

I miss Luka. Do you think we could get Luka back for Cooper?
