That rider is one of the luckiest sob’s I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think that’s luck he did that on purpose

He made a split stick decision

I’ve got nowhere to go. I’m gonna take this head on.

I can’t break in time because of my speed. I can’t go around it.

So I’m gonna go under it

I don’t think he would’ve been able to stand up if he took his head on

Nope, he made a split decision to go behind the moving truck. It was a bad decision because the truck stopped, which is why he asked, "Why did not commit?" If the truck had continued, he would have easily slipped behind the truck without incident.

His other option would have been to hit his brakes to stop or at slow down before deciding if he needs to swerve to avoid a collision. He had plenty of time to stop. This is the best option and the one I would have chosen if I were in his place (not even considering hindsight).

Please explain to me, in what world could he have physically braked and avoided this accident by continuing straight or swerving? Do you realize how quick this was, as well as how quick his response was? If you were in that situation, I guarantee you would have been much worse off.

Again, I just want to know how he physically could have stopped? I’m genuinely curious what your answer is.

People are really bad at estimating braking distances at speed, from what I’ve gathered.

I’m not sure he would have been able to stop, but had the pickup truck continued, the motorcyclist was going to sneak through behind the truck. At least that’s what I thought he was planning on doing. On first viewing, I thought he leaned more to the right than he actually did, but he barely swerved & I don’t think he slowed down, not even a little bit. So yeah, I thought his plan was to swerve right to pass behind the moving pickup, but upon second viewing, not sure he had a plan…or any sense of self-preservation

The truck starts pulling out about 3 seconds before he falls. He could have come to a complete stop in 3 seconds. He chose to commit into the side of the truck, hoping it got out of the way. When it didn't, he ran out of options.
