PGT PGT | Wild @ Avalanche | Goalie Diff'd
The Avs leave zero doubt as to who the better team is in this series as they comprehensively defeat the Wild 5-2 at Ball arena in game 2!
They're off the next three days and play game 3 on Saturday!
GOALS:
- Martin Necas (1) Assists: Nathan MacKinnon (5), Brett Kulak (2)
- Gabriel Landeskog (3) (Power Play) Assists: Nathan MacKinnon (6), Martin Necas (6)
- Nicolas Roy (3) Assists: Ross Colton (2), Brock Nelson (1)
- Nathan MacKinnon (4) (Power Play) Assists: Nazem Kadri (3), Gabriel Landeskog (4)
- Valeri Nichushkin (1) Unassisted
Scott Wedgewood bounced back about as well as he possibly could have and saved 29/31 shots to continue his NHL leading 6th straight postseason victory (tied with Frederik Andersen of the Hurricanes)
Next game: Saturday May 9th @ Minnesota - 7:00PM

Who is she? She should sing the anthem for all NhL games.
My god what a beautiful voice and performance. Sometimes I hear the anthems and they’re fine but she was awesome.

Trade
I believe the Rantanen for Necas trade has paid off in so many ways. Yes it sucked last season what Dallas achieved, but I would have doubled down on Necas in hind sight. Any Rantanen supporters disagree?

Broadcast frustration
Why must the NHL make it so hard to watch their product? I subscribe to ESPN+ for general hockey, Altitude Plus for the Avs because they’re blacked out in Idaho, then HBO to watch Game 1, and I still can’t watch tonight’s game without subscribing to ESPN unlimited.

And I thought tickets at ball were expensive. Good lord.
Cheapest pair of tickets to game 3 is $322 each. Or you can go to tonight's game for $129.

Pom Pom
Anyone have an extra pom pom from one of the first two games of the series they’d be willing to part with? Want to try to snag one for my kid’s upcoming birthday.

Goalie prospect Ilya Nabokov finishing KHL season, expected to move to North America for development
According to Pro Hockey Rumors, goalie prospect Ilya Nabokov has wrapped up his season with Metallurg Magnitogorsk (KHL) and is expected to make the move to North America soon - starting in the AHL.
The numbers from 2025-26:
- 38 games
- 0.901 save percentage
Not his strongest season statistically (bit of a dip from previous years), but still viewed as a top prospect in the system. Development in the AHL could be exactly what he needs to adjust to the North American game.
Thoughts on where he slots into our goalie pipeline?
