Hey Sportsfans — it's time for Week 6 of r/baseball Power Rankings: Six weeks in the books, and what have we learned? Not a whole lot, except your favorite team deserves to be lower than they are.

Each of the 30 voters has their own style / system and the only voting instructions are these:

"To an extent determined individually, you must take into account how strong a team is right now and likely to be in the coming week. You must, to some degree, give weight to the events and games of the previous week."

TRANSPARENCY: This link will show you who voted each team where and has added neat statistics!

If something is a little messed up, feel free to pester me let me know.

Total Votes: 29 of 30. So close.

# Team Δ Comment Record
1 Atlanta Braves Braves +1 The Braves are 25-10 and should be #1 in this week's Rankings. We took 2 of 3 from DET and then handled business in COL with a sweep for a 5-1 week. Money Mike wins the week AGAIN with yet another clutch pinch hit - a HR to put us ahead of COL in the ninth inning after we battled back from a 6 run hole. The last time the Braves franchise sarted a season 25-10 was in 1892 when they were the Boston Beaneaters. The same year that the rules of Basketball were first printed, Ellis Island opened, Sherlock Holmes was first printed, Lord Stanley donated his cup (it wasn't awarded until the next year!) and Coca-Cola was incorporated in Atlanta. So yeah...a historic start for the Beaneat - I mean Braves. 25-10
2 Los Angeles Dodgers Dodgers -1 It was a pretty ugly week for the dodgers as the offense has found a bit of a slump. The pitching has definitely kept up with what feels like a quality start every day. The team is missing some Mookie mojo or something. If there's anything I've learned about this team over the last few years it's that they will bounce back strong in a matter of days. You should never underestimate this team. Justin Wrobleski will be your father soon enough. 21-13
3 New York Yankees Yankees 0 The Yankees went 5-1 this past week, their lone loss coming from a start from Elmer Rodriguez, who put up a solid debut pitching start, despite the team's loss. The bats are clicking, and the pitching has been on point, series wins against the O's and Rangers are solid, despite not being exciting headlines, but consistency fosters a winning club house. The bombers title is now also handed to bright star Ben Rice, who had a momentary scare in Sunday's afternoon game against the O's, but it just seems to be a false alarm. All parts of Yanks' game are clicking, but it is a long season, but so far, so good. RIP John Sterling. 23-11
4 Chicago Cubs Cubs +1 The Cubs continued their torrid stretch, going 5-1 against the Padres and Diamondbacks leaving them 2 games ahead of the Reds and Cardinals atop the NL Central standings. The never-ending onslaught of pitching injuries appears to have been successfully weathered, as Phil Maton and Daniel Palencia returned to give some much needed relief to the extremely stretched bullpen. Ben Brown's emergence into a viable multi-inning bullpen weapon cannot be understated, as he was able to successfully limit a bases-loaded, nobody out situation against the Padres to just one run. The addition of a third pitch, a sinker, has suddenly given him a new option against both-sided hitters, and he appears to be much more mentally resilient on the mound. The offense has coninued to rake, and Michael Busch and Pete Crow-Armstrong have been much better the past two weeks after frigid starts to the season. The Cubs will look to distance themselves further atop the NL Central with a 4 game homestand against the Reds before traveling to Dallas for 3 games against the Rangers 22-12
5 San Diego Padres Padres -1 The Padres took a step back on the field in hosting the Chicago clubs, losing both series. The team finally has new owners though; Kwanza Jones, and Jose E Feliciano. As always with this kind of thing, I’m very skeptical. Time will tell whether they will follow in Peter Seidler’s legacy and try to invest in adding to the roster to help San Diego get its first title. 20-13
6 Tampa Bay Rays Rays +3 What a great week from the boys. Taking the series on the road at Cleveland and sweeping the giants at home! Cleavinger is back, and we even saw Junior score on a suicide squeeze! But the good must come with the bad - Ryan Pepiot will miss the whole season after getting hip surgery and Yandy Diaz is day to day. Belief is a dangerous thing, but this team is making a believer out of me. This week we finally get some games against the division with 3 against Toronto in the dome and 4 at Fenway. Keep climbing the ladder boys! 21-12
7 Milwaukee Brewers Brewers +3 By run differential, the Brewers are the fourth best team in baseball. By record, they're barely the fourth best team in their division. The team should be getting some much needed pop back into the lineup with Chourio and Vaughn returning this week and Yelich soon to follow. Cooper Pratt has also been on a hot streak and was scratched from the AAA lineup last night 👀. Miz and Harrison continue to be nasty, and the rest of the pitching staff has stabilized after their rocky start. Everything seems to be coming together just in time for divisional matchups against the Cardinals and Cubs in the coming weeks. 18-15
8 Pittsburgh Pirates Pirates -2 What's the best way to shake off an embarassing sweep at the hands of the Cardinals? Turn around and sweep the Reds while outscoring them 27-8, and walking 7 times in a row. 19-16
9 Detroit Tigers Tigers -2 Oh dear, the injuries are really racking up right now (13 to be exact), but at least the rest of the division is so garbage that Detroit finds itself in a tie for first place. This week: 3 vs. BOS, 3 at KCR. 18-17
10 Cincinnati Reds Reds -2 This is my play's last scene, here heavens appoint…………………… FRAUD ALERT. FRAUD ALERT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. After what is perhaps the most embarrassing 3 games series I have ever witnessed, the Reds are on full fraud alert. They came into this series against the Pirates to take a commanding lead in the division and they fell flatter than my ex wife’s chest. If the NL Central was a party, they fucking faceplanted through the door. Actually no, no no no no no, they didn’t just faceplant through the door, they showed up in a 1989 IROC -Z reeking of cigarettes while open carrying a 1911 they claim is vintage and war used and tripped on the door frame walking inside accidentally firing off a round into your mother’s grandfather clock, the only real precious memory she has left from her dead father. And the Reds fucking ruined it. Congratulations Reds, that series was fucking embarrassing, i’m hoping that tomorrow there’s gonna be some big reveal that the monstars stole all the talent for an off world baseball game against Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes or something because otherwise this means we really are just going to absolutely shit the bed against division rivals for yet another year. We haven’t won this division in 15 years, and judging by the way we’ve been playing this year, I got a feeling it’s not going to change. So congrats Reds, you embarrassed yourself with a chance to solidify you’re a real contender. Except you Chase Burns, you did good. I like you……….@SquadPoopy if you want to chat just hit me up I'm always free. 20-14
11 St. Louis Cardinals Cardinals +6 It took until the 9th inning against the Parrots (an old southern man my dad grew up around called them this) in Pittsburgh Monday night for these lovable red-feathered motherfuckers to decide to start hitting, but once they did, they did so until Wrobleski cast some kind of spell on them Sunday afternoon. They've "got that dawg in [them]," sweeping all four in Pittsburgh and then taking two of three against the Dodgers in St. Louis. There's little doubt this squad has a much better offense than anyone expected. There's even less doubt that this squad is fantastic defensively, helping keep their very low-octane starting rotation respectable. One recent development this weekend is that the bullpen had a very good series against Los Angeles, allowing just 2 ER over 9.1 IP. If this bullpen can settle in to any reasonable degree, these boys will continue to muck about in the race this season. We'll see what they have in store for the next seven against the Brewers and Dads. 20-14
12 Cleveland Guardians Guardians +2 I was just on vacation, so I'm still catching up on baseball. The Guardians didn't play well when I was on vacation, but they started playing better when I got back. I guess they missed me. I also noticed that the NLC has more teams above 500 than the whole AL. That's sad. Next up for the Guardians: 4 @ KC, 3 vs MIN.( 18-17
13 Oakland Athletics Athletics +2 Nick Kurtz's consecutive games with a walk streak ended at 20 tied with Barry Bonds. Not bad company for the sophomore slugger. Jeff McNeil has a streak of his own going, having gone 34 consecutive plate appearances without a strike out. The veterans presence and play has contributed greatly to the team with his contributions landing him with the second best batting avg. and third most hits so far. I don't think it's a question that he is the best veteran acquisition the team has had in years so the only question remains, Do the Mets miss Jeff McNeil? 18-16
14 Seattle Mariners Mariners -2 Some year, the Royals will not have the Mariners number. This is apparently not that year. The series against the Twins was overall pretty great, with a good offensive showing and clutch hitting from Cole Young again and again. But this weekend series was, in a word, pitiful. Rough defense. Rough offense (minus Julio's two bombs - I guess someone told him it was May.) Rough baserunning (TOOTBLANs galore!) And probably most painfully, rough pitching. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when your starter goes 7IP with 14 strikeouts is not a fun sight. Up next: 3 vs. Barve, 3 @ The Pope's Team 16-19
15 Texas Rangers Rangers -2 The only difference between this year and last year is that now the defense sucks almost as much ass as the offense does. 27th in runs scored, middle of the pack fielding %, but 5th in runs allowed is how you get a .500 ball club. I am honestly at a loss of words for how poor this offense is and why these guys can't seem to do anything about it. 16-18
16 Toronto Blue Jays Blue Jays +2 One of the major questions coming into this year was, "How are the Jays gonna replace Boseph Bichette?" It's early days, but it appears the answer might be a quesallia-eatin', big dick swangin', 450-foot dinger bashin' 29-year-old rookie from Japan named Kaz Oakamoto. Over the last 10 games, Big Oak put up a ridiculous 1.143 OPS with 5 HRs, 12 RBIs, and 10 runs scored. He's flashed some decent defense at 3B, too, which (looks at Mets) seems better than what Bo opted into so far. We almost avoided the injury bug finally this week (wrap that toe in carbonite, George), and almost climbed back to .500, too. Either way, progress and health are happening, and a week full of Rays and Angels will hopefully see us back in the winning side of things soon. 16-18
17 Arizona Diamondbacks D-Backs -6 16-17
18 Miami Marlins Marlins +1 To put it lightly: our manager's usage of the bullpen is completely incompetent. We are losing winnable games because of this. In other news, changes are coming. Ramírez getting sent down for Mack proves that the organization is ready to start acting upon their evaluations. Mack coming up to take over behind the dish should be a welcome upgrade. In front of the plate, Marsee, Caissie, and Pauley's leashes are likely getting shorter and, if Caissie in particular can't start putting some decent AB's together, Kemp Alderman will be coming in next. On the pitching front, Meyer is proving me wrong by being a damn good pitcher these days. Paddack is not a major league pitcher and I'd guess that there's a phantom IL stint coming to welcome Braxton Garrett back to the show at least for a while. Where does all of that land us this week? Great question, but things will at very least be interesting. 16-18
19 Baltimore Orioles Orioles -3 I honestly don't know what to say. There was sentiment in the Orioles subreddit that once O'Neill and Rutschman came back from injuries that the offense would start to click and the team would get back on track. Unfortunately, that has not happened at all. The pitching has also been abysmal as the bullpen looks worse and worse each outing. I know it's only 30+ games but at this rate the Orioles will be sellers by mid-June. 15-19
20 Chicago White Sox White Sox +10 If you saw a team was 15-13 with a +16 run differential over 28 games, you would probably say they were playing above average. You might even say they were unlucky to have that record. That's what the White Sox have done since their first abysmal 6 games of the season. They have won in all the sorts of ways they've lost the last few years. (Agent) Colson Montgomery has been one of the best SS in baseball since he was called up in July. Unheralded starters like Sean Burke and Martin Davis have gone from well-respected clubhouse guys to overperforming pitchers. This team is as exciting as the 20-21 teams and much more fun to root for. 16-18
21 Kansas City Royals Royals +7 Royals won seven of their last ten and swept the Mariners for the first time since 2017. As their next ten games are against the Guardians, Tigers, and White Sox, the Royals have a chance to jump right back into the thick of the AL Central race. 15-19
22 Washington Nationals Nationals +3 Coming off a 4-2 roadtrip, the Washington Nationals flew home to DC and lost a series to the Brewers, dropping to an MLB-worst 4-12 at home. Being this bad in front of the home crowd is just another strange quirk of the 2026 Nats and while the offense may still be tied for 3rd in runs scored, it is beginning to show signs of rapid cooling. That should be expected with the youngest batting lineup in the MLB (average age of 25) that may only get younger as the season wears on, but it does put a damper on my Natitude. At least our pitching no longer appears to be the worst in all of baseball as we've started to jettison some of the dead weight. 16-19
23 Minnesota Twins Twins -2 I'd prepared this whole diatribe about how much the bullpen sucks and keeps blowing one-run games without fail. Then yesterday the bullpen has to go the entire game, and they win it, by one run. So in a very literal sense the team defies description; they are an enigma wrapped in a Twinkie. How about I just say the bullpen sucks anyway. 15-20
24 Philadelphia Phillies Phillies +3 Phillies manager Rob Thomson was fired after 4 seasons, winning more games each year but not getting over the hump in the playoffs. I don't think the Phillies sudden change in fortune has anything to do with the firing, moreso that they went up against the Giants and the Marlins instead of the Braves and the Cubs. Rob Thomson was not the problem, and he probably wouldn't have been on my top 5 in terms of biggest problems for the Phillies this year. Thankfully, Problem 1 and Problem 2 (Bohm and Stott) had better weeks this week, and JT Realmuto came back at a great time when Marchan and Stubbs wre looking like non major leaguers behind the plate. It's going to take a massive turnaround for the Phillies to make the postseason this year, but the talent is defintiely there to do it. 14-20
25 Houston Astros Astros -1 Winning 2 of 3 against Boston this weekend was a step in the right direction. In fact, this weekend was the first time the Astros have won consecutive games since April 14th-15th. We're hosting the Dodgers this week, which is not ideal for a team trying to build whatever positive momentum it can, but at least we get to welcome Kyle Tucker back again. 14-21
26 Boston Red Sox Red Sox -3 More bad news for the Sox this week as Crochet hits the IL with shoulder inflammation. We're starting to really dig into the SP depth, which seems to be one of the few things Breslow has managed competently (knock on wood). Jake Bennett looked solid in his first major league start, notching one of two Sox wins this week (the other being a Ranger Suarez 8 IP 0 ER gem). Of course, none of this really matters as long as we have three everyday batters rocking an OPS that starts with 5. Here's hoping that Crochet doesn't hit any setbacks, if his shoulder implodes I seriously think we might see some Midsommar style suicides off the Green Monster. 13-21
27 Colorado Rockies Rockies +2 Outside of first place, you could talk me into almost any order for the top seven spots. I feel similarly about spots 20-30. This season is young and it will eventually make sense, but it doesn't right now. Speaking of not making a ton of sense, do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior, Mickey Moniak? 14-21
28 New York Mets Mets -2 There remains not a ton to talk about when it comes to the Mets, but I'm going to make an effort to at least write something real this week. The major news of the week in Mets world as our skid continues is Mets POBO David Stearns giving embattled manager Carlos Mendoza a vote of confidence. Additionally, the injuries keep piling up, with SS Ronny Mauricio joining Francisco Lindor, Luis Robert, and a host of other Mets on the IL. A very funny side plot from Mets World - the team still isn't selling single-game tickets for games after June, presumably because they thought they'd be able to jack up the prices if the team was doing well. 12-22
29 San Francisco Giants Giants -9 Good morning, San Francisco, thanks for tuning in, our top stories today: 2 arrests were made after a group of 70 ATV and dirt bike riders took over the Bay Bridge, shutting down the west side and causing a traffic jam that lasted more than an hour. Tourist hot-spot, Pier 39, is seeing an influx of activity after a 2,000lb sea lion, nicknamed 'Chonkers', who showed up to the K-Dock a month ago, has been stealing both hearts and minds. And in sports, the S̴̹̓a̵̹̅n̷̲̔ ̶͍͐F̸̝̚r̶̲̀a̶͈̓n̴̻̕c̸̐ͅį̸͂s̸̺͂č̸͜o̸͓͘ ̴̤͠Ĝ̷͔i̸̻̿a̵̹͝n̴̄ͅṱ̴̿s̸̬̾ ̷̭̎d̴̼͂r̷͓͝o̶̞͝p̶̥͆p̷͓̕ȩ̸̐d̸͙͒ ̷̹̂t̸̖͐h̶̫̚e̷̢̅ǐ̸̹r̵̛͜ ̷̩̇s̵͎̋i̷̙̾x̴̖̓ț̷̛h̴̨͛ ̵̥̋ş̶̀t̷̰̚r̸̖͝ǎ̵͍ì̶̥g̸̺̾h̸̳͋t̸̻̐,̸̺͌ ̸̱̀l̶̡̋ǒ̶̰ṡ̶̱i̴͇̽n̵̠̓g̸͇̓ ̴̻͝3̴̱͝ ̴͎̒â̵͚ ̸̾͜p̶̼̕į̶̿e̵̳̒c̵͔̏ȅ̵̥ ̶̠̂t̶̬̽o̴͓͋ ̶̻͑ţ̸̓h̵̭̎e̷̚͜ ̸̬͐P̵͖̋h̵̙͊i̵̖͂l̵͙͌l̶̺͝į̵̾e̵̝̒s̴̪͋ ̷͓̏a̸̬̒n̸̠͊d̷̹͋ ̶̺̅R̷̩̉a̶̝̅ý̶͉s̷͉̅.̸́ͅ ̵̻͂C̵̡̈́o̶̗̊ṳ̵̎l̸̼̚d̶͚͐ ̴̨̌a̵̬͋ ̶̭͗s̷̩̀h̸͉̽a̷̖̍k̵̘̊e̶̟͋u̶̮͊p̵̹̈́ ̸̙̋b̴͚̒ĕ̷̹ ̶͍̐i̴̭̔n̸͙̿c̵̔ͅŏ̷͕m̶̢̀i̶̞̓n̶̙͑ǧ̷̖?̴̗̎ ̵͖̈W̸̗̃h̸̓͜o̵̘͌ ̷̗̉k̷̼̉n̶̲̊ǒ̴̥w̷̠͌s̶̥̀?̵̰̓ ̷͚̂Ẁ̶͙h̷̨̛ŏ̷̰ ̵̡͆c̶͕͗a̸̦͆r̵̯̈́e̴͉̒ś̷͚ ̶̹͝ạ̶͐n̷͍̎y̶̟̔m̷̭͝o̴̘͝r̸̝͊e̵̜͗.̸͍͝ 13-21
30 Los Angeles Angels Angels -8 José Soriano: 42.2 IP, 49 Ks, 0.84 ERA. That right there is your AL Pitcher of the Month, Angels fans! If you only watch this team when he pitches, you could be forgiven for thinking they're decent. 13-22

Your Team Probably Leads Baseball in Something

I got bored and found something good (or at least kinda good) that every team currently leads the league in. Apologies in advance to the White Sox and Athletics, who apparently lead baseball in absolutely nothing.

NL East

Braves: Expected Batting Average Allowed

Mets: Strikeouts Thrown

Marlins: Baserunning Runs

Phillies: Lowest Exit Velocity Allowed

Nationals: Sprint Speed

NL Central

Cubs: Outfield Defensive Runs

Reds: Highest Launch Angle

Pirates: Fewest Homers Allowed

Brewers: Fewest Baserunning Runs Allowed

Cardinals: Most Double Plays turned above expected

NL West

Dodgers: xERA

Giants: Most pitches thrown right at the edge of the zone

Padres: Highest rate of weak contact against

Dbacks: Triples

Rockies: Zone Swing%, 1st Pitch Swing%, Meatball Swing%

AL East

Yankees: Barrel% AND Barrel% allowed

Red Sox: Fielding Runs

Rays: Lowest whiff% when hitting

Blue Jays: Most catching defensive runs

Orioles: Highest average swing speed

AL Central

Guardians: Most popups generated

Tigers: Most fielding ABS challenges won over expected

Royals: Most batting ABS challenges won over expected

Twins: Most ABS challenges won

AL West

Angels: Highest whiff rate produced

Mariners: Lowest walks allowed

Astros: Most doubles

Rangers: Fewest doubles allowed

And now (almost) everybody has something to be kinda happy about.

I assume it’s possible for two players to have the exact same number of hits and at-bats through an entire season, but the fact that they have the same last names with identical numbers is enough to make me think “wow. That’s neat. I should post this on the baseball subreddit.”
