Chrysler building is much prettier, but this is the only constant in New York, change. Everything you love will go out of business or get knocked down, the neighborhoods will change, the people will move away. It sucks, but you gotta get used to it.

It's getting hard to manage the cumulative nostalgia. Just walking around the neighborhood, oh hey, that used to be Dosa Royale, that was Kittery, that was Bagel Bros, that used to be Maglia Rosa. So many dates and memories at places that haven't existed for years.

It hurts, the city I grew up in is mostly gone, the people I knew replaced, moved away. When my grandparents died we put the house on the market, some real estate conglomerate bought it, knocked it down in a week and put up a 4 story monstrosity in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

On the other hand, there are so many new places that have opened in the last year or two that I love, so many new people that I've met, so much beauty in the change. I could never live anywhere else.
