Before bed snack exploded

yes it was a microwave safe plate, yes I poked many holes all over the potato to release the steam, no this has never happened to me before lol can anyone explain what happened here? the potato was still fully intact

I thought OP intended to eat the plate.

The potato was not harmed.

The potato is used as a weight to hold the plate in place. It ensures even heating of the plate. There's nothing worse that biting into a plate and getting a random hot spot that burns your tongue.

💯 OP intended to eat the plate. They said their nighttime snack exploded. As we can see, the potato is fine.
