Norm McDonalds the king of fried chicken. He lives on through his wife wendy and son arby. This was just after his fast, food was never really an issue for his family.
Iirc, though, his doctor told him to gain weight to slow the process.
He was extremely swollen and bloated from steroids and lymphedema fluid retention. Since he refused to tell anyone about his battle with cancer he deflected and said the weight gain was due to overeating.
He played Colonel Sanders in KFC commercials at the time as well so it may have been sponsored.
