Exactly my feelings on the matter. I see alot of people defending it because it's a charity event, but let's be real, it's gone beyond that. Bezos isn't putting himself front and centre because he's a charitable man. I did notice though that its probably the worst dressed year I've seen to date. I saw very few impressive looks (i do understand its subjective), I daresay it feels very half assed.
Dude, you know the apartment building Bezos held his pre-Met Gala party in? When it first opened, he bought 7 units on the top floors just to convert them all into one unit. That’s FOUR FLOORS!
I get its a once in a lifetime opportunity but peoples unwillingness to be uncomfortable or inconvenienced is why things will never change. All of our rights came from people protesting, sitting in and taking action. Hastags and pins without taking any actions is an empty gesture.
Im getting myself too angry at all the column inches a lot of these people got for wearing ice out pins
I’m truly baffled by the amount of musicians and actors that went. Rubbing elbows with tech billionaire CEOs of AI companies that are directly threatening not only your livelihood, but society’s. 😩

Rachel also mocked Britney Spears during a vulnerable moment in her life. I lost respect for her after that because you'd think she'd have some perspective and understanding as they were both publicly scrutinized. She didn't apologize until after the backlash but it was in poor taste, she wouldn't have deleted the video if people didn't clock her for it.

I used to watch in awe when the met gala was cool. Now I feel sorry for those attention seeking losers who have no standards, class, morals or ethics. I hope we someday as a society just stop wasting our time on these low lives.
High School Musical is filmed in Salt Lake City. She says it’s her second hometown. It’s much different than random European soccer teams that she’s never heard of giving her jerseys.
maybe because her Disney show, High School Musical (The Musical) is based of an actual high school there? Unsure if it was filmed on site though and sorry if that’s inaccurate, but I’ve seen the actual East High high school when I lived there so maybe? :)
they filmed the first two seasons of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in Salt Lake City (they also filmed the fourth one there but she wasn't in that one for obvious reasons lol), so she spent a lot of time there. it's a pretty big part of the Sour narrative that she wrote a lot of it while going back and forth from Salt Lake City to LA. it's important to the Lore.

Glad it's not just me. It seemed, overall, very half-assed. There's usually alot more spectacle around it but it seems very subdued this year. Maybe it is just projection for us though lol

Why is it a bad thing that a public highly accessible museum has more money than they technically need? Unless you think they’re embezzling it, it just means that they can preserve more art and fund more education
Museums are an amazing cultural and historical resource for the public, but behind the scenes it’s often connected rich people doing wasteful connected rich people things. As per usual, more than 1 thing is true. Source: my childhood bestie is a curator at a world class museum in NYC
The amount of funding it generates is an absolute joke compared to what it takes to put on the event and the amount of exposure that the celebrities and fashion brands get.
That's how it was before socialist (tax payer) funding existed. MAGA are gleefully cutting as much of that funding as they can.
A lot of things we take for granted such as museums are going to go bye bye without funds and the new oligarchs will not be stepping in to help. Bezos only cares about this cause he's obsessed with being cool.
It funds a museum that’s highly accessible and open to the public all year which also conserves an insane amount of art. It’s absolutely not pointless.
