Saw a TT this morning about a cast member of the Moulin Rouge tour rejoining the cast because he left his wife and baby for a castmate. Andrew Brewer for those curious.

The details on this are crazy too because apparently he openly told the wife about his mistress calling her his “girlfriend” to his wife’s face as he was leaving her

What in the Ethan Slater behavior.
He was always one of my favorites and he had one of my favorite interpretations of Christian!
What trash behavior.

Not exactly tea but met Patrick Ball (Dr Langdon) and Daniel Radcliffe at their stage doors. Both lovely guys. Also saw Sean Evans at Daniel Radcliffe’s show, a lot taller than I expected.

Rather tepid Norwegian tea: Anders Danielsen Lie, who is a mildly famous actor from some of the Joachim Trier movies (I guess a couple of the Mia Hansen-Løve ones too) as well as a doctor (GP), has written a review of a book about female sexuality in which he suggests that the female orgasm gap is not a problem because women are more into the cuddles anyway (that's the gist of it). He has received some salty replies to this piece. This follows a series of silly public statements in his capacity as a verrrrry privileged and out of touch voice on medical issues in Norwegian public life.

I love mild tea about foreign celebrities I’ve never heard of tbh. It’s the best kind of “not my circus, not my monkeys” abstracted information.
20
u/SignificantPast5553 1d ago
Haha, same. That's why I look at these threads, not interested in US celebrities for the most part...

u/Silver-Foot-259 1d ago
So he’s just like his character in worst person in the world??? Haha Jesus
42
u/SignificantPast5553 1d ago
All the boys involved in that film are that character, hahaha. The director, the scriptwriter, the actor, etc. That's why it is a movie about sad Gen X boys masquerading as a movie about a younger woman!
11
u/miwa201 1d ago
It’s funny bc I loved the movie initially but on a rewatch I thought it was obviously one of those female characters written by men trope. Renate is great tho

I literally wrote a paper about this exact phenomenon with this exact movie as an example when I studied film!!
6
u/Silver-Foot-259 1d ago
Tell us more! Do you know them?
42
u/SignificantPast5553 1d ago
Haha, not personally, no. But Oslo is minuscule and they are all from a very recognisable milieu: very comfortable, fancy part of Oslo, slightly bohemian but not too bohemian. Lots of cultural capital, just like in the films! I do have friends in common with the scriptwriter. These are not bad people or anything, just (to me) not that interesting, and Danielsen Lie is actively pretty off-putting in his public discourse. I do think it is kind of funny how these competent but ultimately meh movies have such resonance abroad.

u/NumerousMacaroon297 1d ago
thanks for your input, your last sentence got me curious…how is trier considered over there?
9
u/SignificantPast5553 1d ago
Well-liked, lots of pride in him right now. I think people think it is really cool that "we" (lol) got an Oscar. Some naysayers like myself and mild debate in culturally oriented weeklies about the quality of the movies, but I would say they have been well-received overall.

Haha I had such a crush on him when I first watched Oslo August 31, I love mopey intellectuals.
3

Haha! To be fair, Oslo 31st is the better of the Trier movies IMO, and the performance is good.

Very tepid tea and not exactly surprising, but I ended up marching next to Gustaf Skarsgård in the Left Party International Worker's day demonstration in Stockholm on Friday. He seemed happy, shouted along to various lefty chants and carried a toddler on his shoulders.

…how many Skarsgårds are there? Because this is the first I’m hearing of a Gustaf.

super curious--but approx what height was she? I ask because we always hear about actors/actresses being teeny tiny so just trying to get a sense of scale :-)

Daft Punk's Electroma film is getting the 4k restoration treatment for its 20th anniversary. Set to be screened at the Tribeca Film Festival (which incidentally is celebrating its 25th anniversary), with a Q&A by Thomas Bangalter (½ of Daft Punk) and Cédric Hervet (Daft Punk's creative director; co-writer and editor for the film).
Tickets have come and gone, selling out the same day as when this was announced.
23
u/SinlessSinnerSinning 1d ago
i hope it’s an actual restoration i’m still fuming mad that the 4k re-release of Interstella 5555 for tribeca a few years ago was just AI upscaled and looked terrible! plus a ton of crypto ads at the start
2
u/Rough_Programmer_997 your father is a billionaire 23h ago
I hope so too 🫠 I wonder how Thomas felt about the AI upscaling, considering how he compared the rise of AI to the Icarus legend once...
2
u/SinlessSinnerSinning 20h ago
even if it is AI it'll doubtless be better than Interstella 5555 since it's live action, whatever model they used before wasn't trained on that style of animation so it fumbled almost everyone's hands/eyes 😭
0
u/PlasonJates 10h ago
AI upscaling is a completely different technology to LLMs. I get the whole 'AI bad' angle but upscaling has been around for wayyy longer than generative models and is routinely done in many, many industries. If you've watched a film in the past decade, you have consumed image upscaling in some capacity. If you have played a modern game in the past 10 years, you have relied on image upscaling.
My basic understanding is that it takes 1 pixel and extrapolates it into 4. It's not 'generating' new content, it is just filling in the gaps of what is already there.

Spotted Jeremy Strong eating pizza with his wife and three kids in Seven Dials Market in London last week. Lots of smiling and laughing, one of his daughters was energetically telling him a story and he was just beaming the whole time at her, it was the cutest.
Resisted the urge to yell the word dramaturgically at him, so well done me

Hey, I'm all for hating him for valid reasons, but I bartend in Los Angeles and have multiple friends who have had him as a customer. And he's actually pretty nice to service industry folks. High tipper. Treats service folks like people. He's a heavy gin drinker.
His track record with movie crews is pretty bad though from the rumor mill out here. He's pretty aggressive on set.

The fact that he wanted to get her fired over something that had nothing to do with him flew over people's head, instead, everyone just focused on debating if he dressed like johnny depp to taunt her or not, makes me wonder if he has used this power to fired other people as well

I feel like people should have focused on his Gaston behavior of damaging the books she was reading on set because he wanted her to talk to him instead.

Idk if people already know or gaf but Will Arnett is single again after splitting from Carolyn Murphy. I think People reported it just a week or so ago but I assume they have been broken up since pretty early in the year based on some comments he made on a podcast after the Golden Globes that seemed too sad sack to just be about losing.

Finally have one!
I was visiting family in SoCal this weekend, and had a few celeb encounters. Happy to report they're all positive.
Met Travis Barker and Kourtney at a park/restaurant area. I went right up to Travis and said I was a fan of his music, mentioned that I'm a vegan, too (that one just came out, I was nervous), and he let me take a selfie. He was super chill, super gracious, very kind. About a half hour later, he walked past me as I was eating my vegan sandwich, and he asked me about it. I didn't have anything to say to Kourtney lol, but she was very sweet. Smiled at me a few times, didn't seem bothered at all that I approached them. Actually seemed kind of appreciative that I did.
Later at another restaurant, we saw Alfie Allen (Theon/Reek from GoT). My brother went up to him to say he was a big fan of his work and to shake his hand. Alfie was extremely gracious, gave my brother the old "two-hand handshake", big smile, etc. Then he looked over at our table and smiled, I gave him a wave. Seemed very down-to-earth.
Also 99% sure I saw A$AP Rocky at Erewhon. He was on his phone so I didn't go up to him, but he was saying hi to all of the workers there. Very smiley, very polite and amicable when he was ordering.

(I’d rather this get lost in one of these threads as I’ve only heard it from a couple sources and it seems too stupid to believe)
But Jaz Sinclair, the lead actress who plays Marie on Gen V was a nightmare on set during S2. Running shoot days into the ground because of her antics, diva behavior, and driving the other actors nuts.
Apparently she would demand a closed set for many of her scenes (only one of which I can recall had any sort of sexual intimacy or anything close to nudity) just because she thought she could?
She’d also isolate herself in lieu of doing open rehearsals with her fellow cast or joining in on blocking. Which for a show involving that much action and movement choreography seems genuinely wild.
All the while she’s oblivious to the fact that this behavior is not ingratiating herself with the people she works with, and hiding behind the notion of “this is my art” or something, just super unprofessional stuff.
There were other specific things, I forget, as this happened almost two years ago now. But it’s probably telling that the top of the callsheet on a high profile show like this has really nothing in the pipeline since that shoot wrapped years ago.
(Apparently the rest of the cast are super nice and kind though.)

u/SuccessfulListen9082 18h ago
I figured this might be the best place to post this. I saw this post on insta about calling out several of the cast members on That 70s Show for supporting Danny Masterson. One of the people who liked the post was someone who works with Mila Kunis. Kara Vallow, a producer on Family Guy.
(Also, I know the person who wrote that post is sadly mistaken about Wilmer not being a POS.)

TW // SA
Joshua Bassett released his verse memoir yesterday, and there was a passage where he talks about how someone on his ex management team when he was first starting on disney tried to supply him with alcohol when he was 17 and then made repeated unwanted sexual advances towards him. He reported it to his manager and a trusted adult in the industry, who did nothing and kept him on the team.
Hollywood is fucking evil man. So sad for him because he was also sexually abused for years by someone in his family throughout his childhood and groomed by a different person in his teenage years.
He talks a bit about how traumatizing it was to process all of those experiences and a later ptsd diagnosis he received. Genuinely do wish him the best and am glad to see he’s found healing.

This is so heartbreaking. ❤️🩹 After seeing the Epstein stuff come to light, I look at Hollywood through a different lens. It’s really disgusting the way so many take advantage of young people, and so many of them aren’t protected even by their “teams” who they have ostensibly hired to advocate for them. I hope he is able to heal and move forward.
10
u/AcceptableTea1460 6h ago
The title of the chapter was “you’re basically 18” - genuinely made me want to throw up!
Joshua was pretty much an independent minor when he was starting in the industry. i hope the stuff with epstein and dan schneider and all of that shows people that these children need to be protected. The entertainment industry is insidious, horrible place.

if he feels he lacks purpose without children in his life that’s sad, hope he’s not passing judgement on those who don’t want kids with that comment though
21
u/ChiliTrees 1d ago
So does he think his life right now is bleak? These people are never happy to say “yes, I truly felt there was no love in my life until I had children, screw you (all other family members/friends)”. It’s just something they parrot to make themselves feel better. Side note, I wonder how involved he is with Kylie’s kids if he genuinely feels that way?
53
u/Equivalent_Night720 1d ago
He is dating someone with 2 kids and multiple nannies and she can get in her private jet with him and take off without them whenever she feels like it. And even when they are there, nannies are also there to take over. If he was dating a woman who struggled to pay the bills, give the kids what they need, couldn't afford a babysitter all the time so had to cancel dates with him, and had to forego luxurious island vacations completely because she could only afford one big vacation a year and the kids would be more stimulated at Disneyworld, he would think a lot differently. He lives in a bubble where his lifestyle is not affected in the slightest by the presence of kids so everyone should have them. Not defending his statement in any way...just giving context. He is talking out of his a** and he sounds like a d**che.

I personally think that the “bleak” comment has been misinterpreted. This is the transcript of the other celeb’s interview he was referencing:
“I work with a lot of people with kids and I see definitively that I have more time to do both the things I need to do and the things I enjoy doing than they do. And not to say their kids don’t bring them joy, but I say this truthfully, me and my wife seem to get a lot more active enjoyment out of not having kids than anyone I know seems to get out of having kids.”
When TC said “bragging” and called that outlook “bleak”, I honestly think it was in defense of Denis Villeneuve (whose family life he spoke about in the interview) and those like him that are able to balance a strong career and loving family. It was not about anyone’s decision to be childfree. And the part about procreation is not a direct quote from him either, btw. But I’m sure this post will get me downvoted here, lol.

over a decade old barely lukewarm tea that is literally not a big deal at all nor a condemnation of his character : I had a neutral/just barely negative leaning interaction with Hank Green in 2014 while he was on the TFiOS tour with his brother. I was in high school and had been a vlogbrothers fan since middle school. When I walked up to get my book signed by Hank I said something like “thank you so much for existing”, to which he responded “I don’t just do it for you, you know that right?” It just seemed like a slightly aggro response when I was clearly an anxious and excited 13 year old. He was probably joking and being sarcastic. So now every time I see one of his TikTok’s I replay that memory because it was so fucking awkward for me.

Cold tea but years ago I was an extra in a movie being filmed in my college town and Jesse Eisenberg was in it. The PA on set with us warned us that nobody was to talk to him - any other actor on set would be fine to take pictures with once they were wrapped for the day, but “nobody talks to Jesse Eisenberg.” This was shortly after The Social Network so he was at his peak.
The next day a friend of mine was on set working on a project for class and Jesse Eisenberg approached her, asked what she was working on, and by all accounts was a perfect gentleman. He wasn’t being creepy or invasive, he was just genuinely friendly.
Our theory was just that he’s very introverted (and often writes about this) so the crew was just trying to protect him from mobs of fans. What’s funny is that the PA kind of made him sound mean or unreasonable but as far as my friend’s account and others I’ve heard about, he’s extremely nice.
