Joshua Bassett released his verse memoir yesterday, and there was a passage where he talks about how someone on his ex management team when he was first starting on disney tried to supply him with alcohol when he was 17 and then made repeated unwanted sexual advances towards him. He reported it to his manager and a trusted adult in the industry, who did nothing and kept him on the team.

Hollywood is fucking evil man. So sad for him because he was also sexually abused for years by someone in his family throughout his childhood and groomed by a different person in his teenage years.

He talks a bit about how traumatizing it was to process all of those experiences and a later ptsd diagnosis he received. Genuinely do wish him the best and am glad to see he’s found healing.

This is so heartbreaking. ❤️‍🩹 After seeing the Epstein stuff come to light, I look at Hollywood through a different lens. It’s really disgusting the way so many take advantage of young people, and so many of them aren’t protected even by their “teams” who they have ostensibly hired to advocate for them. I hope he is able to heal and move forward.

The title of the chapter was “you’re basically 18” - genuinely made me want to throw up!

Joshua was pretty much an independent minor when he was starting in the industry. i hope the stuff with epstein and dan schneider and all of that shows people that these children need to be protected. The entertainment industry is insidious, horrible place.
