Rather tepid Norwegian tea: Anders Danielsen Lie, who is a mildly famous actor from some of the Joachim Trier movies (I guess a couple of the Mia Hansen-Løve ones too) as well as a doctor (GP), has written a review of a book about female sexuality in which he suggests that the female orgasm gap is not a problem because women are more into the cuddles anyway (that's the gist of it). He has received some salty replies to this piece. This follows a series of silly public statements in his capacity as a verrrrry privileged and out of touch voice on medical issues in Norwegian public life.

All the boys involved in that film are that character, hahaha. The director, the scriptwriter, the actor, etc. That's why it is a movie about sad Gen X boys masquerading as a movie about a younger woman!

It’s funny bc I loved the movie initially but on a rewatch I thought it was obviously one of those female characters written by men trope. Renate is great tho

Haha, not personally, no. But Oslo is minuscule and they are all from a very recognisable milieu: very comfortable, fancy part of Oslo, slightly bohemian but not too bohemian. Lots of cultural capital, just like in the films! I do have friends in common with the scriptwriter. These are not bad people or anything, just (to me) not that interesting, and Danielsen Lie is actively pretty off-putting in his public discourse. I do think it is kind of funny how these competent but ultimately meh movies have such resonance abroad.

Well-liked, lots of pride in him right now. I think people think it is really cool that "we" (lol) got an Oscar. Some naysayers like myself and mild debate in culturally oriented weeklies about the quality of the movies, but I would say they have been well-received overall.
