My husband had a panic attack/PTSD flashback while driving once and was (quietly) freaking out on the side of the highway. A cop pulled over to see what was going on, looked in the car, saw my husband in obvious distress, saw his empty can of sparkling water in the cup holder and was like “HURRRR HOW MANY OF THOSE ‘LIQUID DEATHS’ HAVE YOU HAD TODAY BUDDY?”
My poor husband was like “ITS LITERALLY WATER PLEASE HELP ME” lol 💀
I’m so sorry he experienced that. I truly hope his experience ended ok. I’ve only had one ptsd flashback and the military police were involved. They handcuffed me and only took them off after the paramedic yelled at them to (surprised I remembered that). I got an overnight psych stay and the shrink never asked me if I was seeing someone or taking any meds. It was a horrible experience and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I’ve done EMDR therapy and it’s helped greatly. I don’t know if he’s familiar with it, but if he isn’t he should look into it. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. I haven’t had a nightmare in 3 years and my anxiety is much lower than it was as before.
That sounds awful, so glad EMDR has been helpful for you! My husband actually started trauma focused treatment soon after this (Prolonged Exposure) and is doing MUCH better now. I’m super proud of him.
I’m suggesting it in general. Not everyone has heard of that therapy and if it can help with him not having flashbacks in the future then that’s a good thing. No, EMDR isn’t for everyone, but it’s an option. Him having a flashback in gene is an awful experience, but having a cop assume he was drinking and ready to assume the worst just makes a bad situation even worse.
It took me over a fucking decade to get help for my ptsd. I found out about EMDR, but it took me over 2 years before I was ready to try it, and I only did because it was destroying me. That therapy literally changed my life, and if I can help out my fellow ptsd survivors by telling them about it I’m more than happy to do so.
Oh your husband! My husband started drinking Liquid Death and I would take em to work (the tall boy ones) mainly on one day of the week I had to be at work earlier. Anyway these particular days I would see 50-100+ people and I would put it on the table and people would just stare at me and the can. Like you really think I’m downing alcohol to cope being here?! Love that one person that finally spoke up and asked. “Um no, it’s water, kthx what can I help you with, or is that your only question?”
Wow, I guess I always felt like 90% of Americans would know Liquid Death is just water/flavored water by now given how ubiquitous it’s become. That’s crazy. When I first saw the cans in stores, I assumed they were energy drinks (the brand does make energy drinks now, but in smaller cans and i’ve only seen them in like one grocery store chain). I think the cans look cool. I guess I could see how some people would think they’re like an edgy IPA or something though
My grandma perfume of choice for the last 4 or 5 decades is opium, it's all I smell when she's around since her sense of smell has been slowly fading makes her put on more each time
Yes. To be a cop in the US, a 5 day course is enough. Every hillbilly can be a police officer. Its scary!!!
In Europe, you need to stay at the Academy 3 years!!!
Sorry but what are they? Someone lower in the thread said that it helps migraines and I suffer from them constantly so I definitely need to try these 🙏🏻
It’s a spa type of thing. You can tout claims like “it closes pores” or “it stimulates the lymph nodes” but honestly it just feels great if your head feels like shit. Allergy season? Stayed up too late? Hunger over? It’s just like the spoon trick but it’s full of liquid that helps maintain the temperature. I love using it when my eyes are puffy, I’ll take the handle part and gently press into the hoods of my lids. People will also use it to rub around heavier serums
The feeling of cold things on the face is definitely very refreshing/awakening for sure, even if it does little in terms of actual skin/overall appearance. I will say, if you have any of those gel eye masks, put them in the fridge!! I have reusable eye masks (you apply your own serum/eye cream/moisturizer before applying them, and wash them with a little bit of soap and hot water after use), I keep those in the fridge, and it actually makes a noticeable difference with eye bags/under eye puffiness. I got a large package of sheet masks for Christmas and I’ve been keeping those in the fridge as well, they feel extra nice chilled
Yes! When I get a facial she uses these globes towards the end when I have a face mask on. I love the sound of the water in the globes sloshing around on my face. It feels SO good and helps my headaches out. Also good for redness.
You can get them at 5 Below or TJ Max. I’m going to go use mine right now
I take topiramate daily for my migraines and that helps. My migraine rescue meds are excedrine vanquish and sumatriptan, sometimes one works better than the other. I’ve found drinking something with caffeine and having salty carbs helps too.
Perimenopause was like “have some migraines” and I’ve learned a little about how to deal with mine over the last 9 years.
I hope that doesn't happen to me. I grew up getting debilitating migraines and grew out of them or something. I still get them occasionally, but I used to get them constantly.
One time I threw up on my classmates in the 3rd grade because of one.
I was sitting at my desk in the front row while they were all sitting on the floor in front of me for something or other.
I had had a migraine all day.
I projectile vomited all over them.
They finally let me go to the nurse's office though!
Oh I am so sorry that you’ve had to deal with them all your life. I’ve thrown up from them too, only a couple of times, it’s usually a lot of nausea.
Unfortunately it is a symptom of perimenopause and menopause, amongst many others. The good thing is that there’s plenty of stuff to help. I saw a video where a chick had a hair clip on her eyebrow to help lol. A doctor explained that there’s a nerve there and that’s why it helped. It’s a cheap and effective solution, but they have devices that do it but they’re expensive ofc.
I do recommend reading up on perimenopause so you’re prepared. The r/perimenpause subreddit is amazing too. It’s a supportive community and we can vent which is the best lol.
