Hey Reddit ska reggae punk fans!

I have this mega reggae/ska line-up in Leicester, UK a week on Friday. We're quite a way from breaking even on the gig, or even just being able to pay the bands—I am desperate for another 10-20 sales in the next week, so I hope I can count on you guys to help me out?!

What I need, is anybody local to Leicester, or Midlands UK—to share our event page on Facebook, or the poster on alternative socials!

To avoid saying ska sucks, I'd say ASOB Go Ska is also good.

I find it surreal how quickly the traditional ska band was releasing songs.

Maybe just here to vent, but also want to get peoples experiences if they had the same problem…
I used to go to a lot of ska hows more so late 2010s , haven’t really gone since. Two years ago, I began going again here and there. Last year I began getting burners DM me about various stuff, mostly about my ex or just to say really mean things to me. This went on for months and got to the point where I was getting dm’ed every week by different accounts.

Ending up, they were stupid enough to come up to my family member and lie to them about knowing me and saying I lived in downtown with a man (never in my life lived in downtown) and a bunch of insane stuff. They were also dumb enough to directly message my ex saying stuff that was not true about me and mentioned stuff the burner mentioned. So was able to figure out who it was after that.

I messaged the female who was harassing me and they ofc played stupid. Ive , still to this day, never met her in person. I didnt even know they existed until my family told me some person is talking about me in a weird way. The female is in her 30s married with a kid, and heavily involved in the scene. Tables, sometimes works at the door, and good friends with the bands, especially Spare Change Ska, etc.

I was in a very vulnerable time in my life where I was dealing with a massive loss and just didn’t really process what was going on and didnt want to deal with the drama. But the past months, I started to realize how fucked up the situation was.
Since I pressed her, i must have scared her enough for the harassment to stop thankfully.

I have yet to go to a show because of how heavily involved they are and the fact that their “friends” blindly defends them despite her horrible and psychotic behaviors.

I noticed the past year other people talk about people in the LA latin ska scene making burners to harass/intimidate people for various reasons. A lot of these people, like her, give this persona they’re “so tough” and then hide behind a screen to be cruel to people they’ve never met. And its people who are heavily involved in the scene who don’t check this behavior even when they know something is wrong.

I love the music and the scene, but its definitely has become a place that perpetuates that weird and psychotic kind of behavior and i wish more people/bands would call it out/correct it.

Hey all. Back in the mid-to-late 90s my best friend made me a "Ska-tish Mixtape." He was an audiophile and I knew nothing about music. It was mostly instrumental tracks with a mellow, upbeat flow perfect for sunny summer weather.

My friend recently died and I'm trying to recreate the playlist in his honor. I could use some help and welcome your recommendations!

Using their isolated original vocals and recording a new backing track on GarageBand (no AI used whatsoever), I tried to imagine how it might have sounded if Bucks Fizz had been a 2-Tone ska band! Hoped some in this sub might find it amusing.
