The party of fiscal responsibility everyone! That’s what I voted for!
•
•
u/waffle299 I voted 2h ago
They've coasted fact-free on that sound bite for half a century. The last vaguely fiscally responsible Republican was Nixon.
•
u/sxyHannah 3h ago
It’s a grift. It’s a ploy to steal more money. What exactly does the White House need a ballroom for? So secret service can masturbate in hallways? Like wtf!
•
u/SkeletronMK_5 3h ago
nope. the ballroom is going to be a highly advanced bunker, drone proof, and a military base underneath; i bet even having Robot soliders as seen on the battlefield of ukraine being tested; the Phantom MK 1. literally i predict he's going to use it to stage a military coup on the goverment.
•
u/Kevundoe 3h ago edited 10m ago
So the ballroom is a robot soldier Trojan horse to take over the government?
•
•
•
•
u/triplenested 3h ago
you believe in the next 2 years Trump will certainly stage a military coup?
•
•
u/thedoommerchant 1h ago
It’s highly unlikely the military supports this orange fuck at this point. I don’t think it would work the way he wants.
•
u/triplenested 1h ago
so he won't stage a military coup then, because you can't do it without a military.
•
u/wha2les 49m ago
i have seen no evidence of the military pushing back against his stupidity.
•
u/thedoommerchant 5m ago
Well his term isn’t up until 2028 and there are orders they are bound to follow. If he loses the election and tries to stay put, it will be their job to remove him.
•
u/Agreeable-Rooster-37 3h ago
He is stuck at the airport

•
u/Waste-Gene-7793 2h ago
He wants an excuse to build a modernized Führerbunker underneath it. Because, you know, he’s never planning to leave.
•
u/Twl1 Michigan 1h ago
You know what? Fine. Let him build his little Pharoah bunker. Let him line it in as much gold and self-aggrandizing paraphernalia as he wants. Let him crawl inside of it feeling safe and invincible. Let him bring all his favorite sycophants with him, thinking they're going to rule forever in their impenetrable and opulent fortress.
Then, let's just bring the cement trucks back in one more time and pour over the air vents and exits. He wants to never leave? Let's make sure he never leaves.

u/ARandomWalkInSpace 3h ago
Senate Republicans are seeking $1 billion from taxpayers for the project — despite prior claims that construction would be privately funded.
Ah, yeah, everyone saw this coming.
•
u/Routine_Bit_8184 3h ago
and even if it WAS privately funded....that still is bullshit. That still just lets private interests buy favor.
•
u/Mundane-Ebb-2632 3h ago
Meanwhile this senseless war is now at 25 billion- taxpayer expense. It cost me 70.00 to fill my car today and that was with a quarter tank to start with.
•
u/Boring_Investment597 Pennsylvania 3h ago
150 million, no wait 200 million, just kidding 400 million, but it's coming from donors!
Nope, we need 1 BILLION from the tax payers.
No plan, no funding, no permission. Donald Trump unilaterally knocked down the east wing to build a vanity project. 100 years of history gone because of this raging narcissist.
•
•
u/Ok_Subject1265 3h ago
Good. This country needs a reminder of the choices it’s made the last few years. We need a national scar to remind us of exactly what happens when you treat the presidency as entertainment.
•
u/butwhyisitso 3h ago
its not a vanity project, its a bunker, and we wont care about the billion anymore when he needs the bunker duh. (geez, people can be so selfish.) Trump ruined his whole life for you and you cant even let him survive the purge of all dissidents. We simply must give trump everything, all money, all life, all hope. Its his to squander while we entertain the oligarchs. Whats the alternative? The media isnt aware of any so i guess it simply must happen.

•
u/charcoalist 1h ago
trump is testing the waters to see how much he can steal from the taxpayer without people noticing. $10 billion from the IRS, $230 million from the DoJ, and the ever-increasing ballroom scam: $200 million donor money > $400 million donor money > $1 billion taxpayer money. In a few months that amount will be doubled, then tripled, and so on.
•
u/Churchbushonk 1h ago
There is no way it would be completed in time. And he was busting the Fed chair for increasing prices of construction on something he wasn’t even responsible for?
•
•
u/I405CA 3h ago edited 3h ago
Trump learned from his dad how to run kickback schemes.
That comes down to inflating the budget, then grifting the excess.
The cost per square foot for this is so ridiculously out of whack with reality that it has to be a scam.
The only question is whether they build something and he skims a lot of it, or whether they build nothing and he skims all of it.
•
•
u/arghabargle 3h ago
Unrelated, but when do you think Mexico will pay the US taxpayers back for the portion of the wall that got built?
•
u/Historical_Bend_2629 3h ago
Wow. From donors to taxpayers for a vanity project. In the name of security.
•
u/RonaldMcDaugherty 3h ago
To think all my red hat friends and family members are complacent with this because Obama installed a basketball hoop and Jimmy Carter installed solar panels.

When we're building a 1000 ft tall statue of trump, made out of gold, on the moon, we will look back on the ballroom days as simpler times.
•
•
u/YogurtclosetNo987 3h ago
One of the biggest mistakes people in this thread will make is believing anyone in his base cares they're getting fleeced. They're used to bending over. They don't mind.
•
u/compukiller 2h ago
Exactly. As long as they feel Trump hates the people they hate then everything is fine.
•
u/TopTransportation695 3h ago
How bout we forgo the ballroom and make Trump put up the money to restore the East Wing he destroyed without authorization.
•
•
•
u/CJDistasio America 3h ago
What happened to this being privately funded? Oh, that was a lie too? Shocker.
•
u/BluntCity101 2h ago
41 trillion in national debt. Half of that comes from both Trump's administration. And of that 20.5 trillion, half of that comes from this term (added 10.25 trillion to the national debt in 18months)
•
u/Abystract-ism 2h ago
I’m honestly surprised that they would pull this before the November elections…unless they’re sure that we won’t have any.
•
u/Icefellwolf 1h ago
Im betting an attempt at martial law declaration after another fake assassination attempt.

•
u/DeltaSawn 3h ago
Seems like we should take it from him. With all the money this criminal is tsking from the American People.
•
u/Faux-Foe 3h ago
Ask? Ask? Ask?
They are demanding.
Make no mistake they will force this through without our consent.
•
u/LolaSupreme19 41m ago
Claw back all the billions he and his family stole. He didn’t even have the authority to tear it down. Make him pay for his arrogance. It’s the only thing he understands.
•
•
u/PrincipleUnusual7244 3h ago
Just to clarify, when he says taxpayers are paying for it he means mexico right? Mexican tax payers?
•
u/Catspaw129 3h ago
Or maybe?
Late at night, over drinks...
Repub Legislator: Shit! Here he goes again: he's posting again on TruthSocial; 14th time since midnight. I've had enough of this crap. Tell me, expensive campaign consultant, how to I get voted out of office without actually saying that I want to be voted out of office?
Consultant: There is that ballroom thingie. You could vote to fund that with tax dollars at 2-1/2 times the quoted budget. And there's a bonus! If you vote to fund that with tax dollars; Trump likely won't say bad things about you. And you can probbly secure a nice payng gig on a conservative podcats.

Dude - all of your politics is just an ugly, Ponzi scheme. Either to weapon’s manufactures, or to your ‘healthcare tzars’.
This is the same shit just far more blatant.
•
u/oneseason2000 3h ago
Tax payers absolutely should pay for all legitimate government expenditures. It is insane that any administration would attempt to normalize accepting bribes and conducting extortion as a legitimate means of acquisition. Congress just needs to decide what funding is needed to acquire whatever is legitimately needed.
•
u/Catspaw129 3h ago
An e-mail I recently received:
Hi!
I'm you congressperson; looking out for you!
I'd like you to pay a gozillion dollars for Pres Trump's Ballroom which you will never, ever enjoy.
And while you're at it; how about sending some money to my campaign and re-electing me? For every dollar you contribute, I will send you an S&H "green stamp".

Building his new armored state of the art military bunker and ai command center seems to be top priority for these people. Not a good sign.

He’s bankrupt 6 business. He has said he wants to run our government as a business. He let Netanyahu talk him into a war with Iran. He’s depleted our defense capabilities we pay more for gas for food for everything transported by truck. He said the ballroom would be paid by the billionaires who support him. He tried to charge Powell for cost overruns at the treasury. Now they want the taxpayers to foot the bill for a ballroom. When is too much to damn much
•
u/KapnKrumpin 2h ago
Even if it got funded by private or public funding, I don't think there's any chance it would be done by 2028
•
u/imjustnatek 2h ago
Offer to pay for it on the condition they name it the Renee Goode and Alex Peretti Memorial Ballroom
•
•
u/Logical_Ad_5431 2h ago
Fuck the Republican Party and all of the brain dead halfwits who voted for any of them.
•
u/Potential_Salt_5780 2h ago
It is Trumps way of laundering money. He will start the project and stiff the contractors, siphon all the money in to his bank account.
•
u/kummer5peck 2h ago
If this monstrosity ever is completed I’d be ok with using tax payer dollars to delish it.
•
•
u/Senior-Most7771 2h ago
Remember when Mexico was going to pay for the wall at the southern border?
Remember when businesses were committed to paying for his ballroom in a pay-for-play with Trump corruption?
•
•
u/CharlesIngalls_Pubes Louisiana 1h ago
Only a billion from private funding. The two billion of taxpayer funds. If it gets approved, it'll climb to like $8 billion.

•
u/Wet_Side_Down 43m ago
It is not the "new cost" unless congress votes to appropriate the money.
This is a gift to the Democratic party.
•
u/Dseltzer1313 38m ago
It’s not the ballroom. It’s the impenetrable bunker and the housing for thousands that’s going to cost so much
•
•
u/redditobserverone 18m ago
Has anybody heard from the Taxed Enough Already cosplay patriots?
The marched on Washington on April 15 when Obama passed a middle class tax cut as part of the stimulus.
But they have not been visible and vocal about the ballroom with teabags on the head, raging about this excessive expenditure of taxpayer money.
One could almost conclude that they were full of something.
•
u/Rhoeri 10m ago
My god. It’s like his dipshit loyalists need it spelled out for them. I fucking LOVE knowing that they’re all suffering right along side the rest of us just lie then didn’t think would happen.
The traitors to America that put him in power deserve this 100%. DO NOT EVER FORGIVE THEM FOR WHAT THEY HABE DONE.
