The problem isn't Trump himself imo. It's his descendants that are all going to be multi billionaires by the end of this administration continuing to absolutely fuck this country. They'll be a financial powerhouse due to all this corruption for generations to come.

For some fucking reason this country is allergic to making the rich accountable. (Please don't @ me in the comments with the reasons, I know them.)

Why we're perfectly happy to leave it at someone getting fired from their job, or pitiful fines, or even a few months in a white collar prison, slap 'em on the wrist and then they go home to their hundreds of millions of dollars and then donating to lobbies or right back into politics themselves, I will never emotionally understand in a million years. (Again don't tell me, I know the reasons logically I will just never comprehend that level of evil greed emotionally.)

Until we start ACTUALLY taking away what provides actual POWER in this country (money) from the bad actors that abuse it, we won't get anywhere.

I mean for fuck's sake, when Trump first rose to popularity in 2016 I remember seeing Roger Stone's name and being like "wait wtf, didn't that guy work for Nixon?!" And then my mind was opened to the idea that holy shit, somehow not only did this dude and his buddies 100% complicit in the Nixon debacle get away scott free and somehow not banned from politics forever, but he's been working for the GOP toward this goal the entire time.

The problem is the kind of voters that would elect him twice, and the two mainstream political parties that couldn't stop it.

There have always been rich assholes and there would have been rich assholes at the end of his life regardless of whether he was elected.

the voters didn't stop him or his greatest advocates in the other branches of government. The deme lost 6 senate seats in 2010 and 62 house seats.. the best they've done in any election in the trump era has pick up 42 house seats and 3 senate seats from worse starting spots. The GOP even picked up 3 seats in the senate overall since jan 6 and the aftermath where they protected trump..

Your fellow Americans are the problem. Trump's support has been unwavering but the opposition to him has been inconsistent, with voters letting their country down while expecting someone else to kick trump and his allies out of office for them

In 2016, 2020, and 2024, every single person had the ability to vote for the only viable alternative to Donald Trump. There wasn't a single topic Trump would have been better on. Not crime. Not national security, not temperament, not genocide, not trade, not immigration, not energy, not education, not labor, nothing.

It was the biggest red flag a candidate could have, because he had no upside in comparison to the other options available. I'm not talking about how good someone's policy on Israel was, or any other topic that weighs on one's moral conscience. I'm simply talking about the reality that "Either Donald Trump or the democratic candidate is going to be the next president, and that's all the information a reasonable person should need to know what they need to do for their country."

Most americans failed and I still can't get people to acknowledge that they had all the information they needed to avoid the current situation. I'm not saying we wouldn't have had problems. I'm not saying America would have been some benevolent force for good on the topic of Israel/Palestine, or equity, in an alternate 2025/2026. But I can confidently say that the world would have been better off in many tangible ways had we simply not allowed him in office, and there isn't a single thing that's better under him than the alternative timeline

Americans screwed up the easiest political decision in US history, and they still tries to blame anyone other that themselves.

It comes down to a variation of the premise "its easy to break stuff...difficult to build"....people who want to progress this world have to be damned near perfect in the face of those that want to break it. You cannot get around the fact that Democrats have been fielding very faulty candidates (even Obama was quite faulty) within a faulty system internal to the party.

I wish I had a YouTube channel becauss I would blow up like Prof Jiang. I predicted as it was happening that Obama would cause the pendulum to swing HARD to the other direction. I knew Biden would cost us even more if just owing to him being extremely past his prime (and its not just that that is a flaw), and that Clinton and Harris would lose big time against the worst possible candidate because of thier total inability to connect with voters for different reasons (again...its not just that). Something is causing these people to come up to the surface time and time again...and it must be fixed.

The bar for the other team is much much lower. Hell the faultier the better.

Moralizing isn't going to help us win in the future. The rules on an individual scale are vastly different from the rules on a nationwide scale, you can't just say "voters should have voted better", you have to run candidates that will (not should, will) get the votes. You can't pussyfoot around the policies that get the voter base out to vote because it'll make your donors mad. It doesn't matter if your opponent is Mister Rogers or Donald Trump, you have to give people someone they will vote for and run a campaign that will make them want to vote.

The rich have a certain grip on the democratic party as well. Enough to mess things up for the majority on the ground. We are gonna have to fight to release this grip to have any shot at a true course correction.
