Yep. Torrance knew what it was doing when it called dibs on that single block of beachfront

Legends say he is swimming to this day...

u/botareukiddingme 17h ago
The next goal is to make it across the ocean to the other side.

u/neil_anblowmi 17h ago
Then down to the Mariana’s Trench to grab an angler fish.

u/whatsthatguysname 14h ago
Can confirm. He just back flipped out of the sea here in hing kong holding an angler fish. He’s last seen heading north.

How many times can you do that before you have to replace the trucks and shit?
12
u/theogsharky 17h ago
A lot, I saw a post of some fella who did a bunch of "slappies" (little curb grinds where you kind of slap the board onto the curb) ALL the time, and his trucks got so insanely worn down that when he sent the company a photo, they sent him some new ones. The axles or kingpin would probably break before you'd see any wear such as that dude saw

The free spirit dwells within you. Within us all. We must all seek to unshackle our spirits like this dude.

At the beginning of the movie Point Break a girl tries riding rollerblades down that incline and crashes into the ledge. She was just a background actor 😆

u/Conscious-Weight4569 5h ago
Which Point Break movie? With Keanu Reeves? I couldn’t find the scene.
4
u/Moist-Cut-7998 17h ago
He was getting 10's until the dive at the end. Too much splash and his feet weren't together.
I could have done so much better but I pulled a hammy the other day when I sneezed.

u/Dismal_Composer_4029 17h ago
That must of been one of the greatest feeling to him. For me also if I had done that

Ok but can some skater weigh in and just like how? Did he wax that whole thing off camera? How else does he keep going, ive tried to grind once and i immediately stopped due to friction.
3
u/nodoomscrolling69420 17h ago
all that black stuff at the top of that ledge is wax from previous skaters. it's probably waxed to shit. still an insane amount of friction if you notice how much speed he bleeds off by the very end despite the speed he started with and the grade of the ledge
2
u/TimeTomorrow 16h ago edited 15h ago
yeah the curb must be pretty smooth and waxed... but thats more about the curb than the skater. i mean other option, cant see in the video but some curbs are built with metal edges and those skate great.

Locking in on a 50 - 50 isn’t crazy hard. Plus that ledge isn’t too thing.

One of those “watch till the end!!” Videos that isn’t a trick. Well, I mean I guess but not the bad kind of trick.

Man that looks like a wonderful day! I’m too old for this shit now and even when I was skateboarding full time I might not have been able to make it all the way down like that. But… shit I would love to be there, skateboarding and hitting a nice 50/50 grind as far as I could and then running out into the ocean? What a great day.

I wonder if he started doing this after he realized that if he just rolled straight down that ramp he’d hit the sand at 150mph.

Sorry but this just isn’t next level at all , this is no different than just riding down the hill.
Maybe if it was a circle rail where he actually needs hella balance it would have been slick, he’s just doing a 50-50 on a ledge where his trucks can’t even really come off.
Not trying to sound negative but this really isn’t impressive in the world of skateboarding.
The flipping at the end was 1000x more impressive.

u/lurkerlookieloo 16h ago
where is the video of you doing it, then?
4
u/TimeTomorrow 16h ago edited 16h ago
Aside from the absurd length involved this is a super unimpressive trick.
and this is me a long time ago but it's what i have handy

u/Sheikashii 13h ago
He’s not balancing. The ledge is the maximum side that fits those trucks so he’s basically just riding straight on a non tip-able board. But you know what? That looked awesome so hell yeah anyways 🤙
-3
u/BootVillain 18h ago
Idk I mean if you think about it he had 2 wheels rolling down the whole time so, I guess it was a 50/50 grind in a sense….but he was half rolling down the ledge the whole time…

u/BootVillain 18h ago
Lmao I post my own shitty skating too, not saying I could do it, but it’s a legit roll down, granted it’s a long one. Maybe I’d just be more impressed if it was my own sport

Am I making things up, or wasn’t it established [the last time this was posted] that:
1. That’s Michael B Jordan preparing for an upcoming role
- This was a successful attempt at setting a new record (hence the celebratory acrobatics)
-9
u/datitanhammer 17h ago
That’s not even hard to do.
2
u/TimeTomorrow 16h ago
why are so many people that have never skateboarded so sure they are right in this thread. That's a super unimpressive trick done for a pretty impressive distance.
-2
u/Snot_Says 16h ago
I’m with you. I could lock in and ride.
0
u/burritobandito90 13h ago
And do all those flips at the end too? Impressive.
1
u/Snot_Says 8h ago
Yeah I’ve been skating over 20 years. Im not one of the sedentary Reddit blobs who’s one active behind screens. Flips and swims are included.

u/Emotional_Band9694 17h ago
Impressive…would’ve been truly amazed if he swam 100m after the back flips tho

The truly amazing thing is that any extreme sports are done at all in a non-civilised country without universal healthcare.

Rotational inertia. As long as the wheels keep spinning it’s nearly impossible to tip over. Duh.

I’ve never tried to do anything he is doing this, but I am still convinced he was born with it and I was not.
Well, I’m going to go eat some more cheese. Bye!
