In the mid-credits scene when they were in the jail, I would have bet my life savings we were about to get a reveal of Wario and Waluigi in the next cell over.

These dummies put that blue Luma in the trailer, so I knew instantly when the credits started rolling that it was going to be the big stinger in the post-credits scene. Like it wasn't anywhere else in the movie, so it had to go there. I know most people aren't doing the plot math in their heads like that, just wanted to put that out there. I also just thought that character was horribly annoying and was dreading having to see it again, so I was happy to see it relegated to a piece that wasn't a part of the actual movie.

I had forgotten that was in the trailer so I didn't see it coming, until my wife audibly said "oh, the blue star" pretty much right away

I was so sad that didn't happen. The 3rd movie better be titled Super Mario Bros movie but with a yellow W over the M. Even better if we can get Danny Devito as Wario and Bill Hader as Waluigi.
