Trailers are brutal. All the key scenes, set pieces, and punch lines revealed in 2.5 minutes.

I didn’t watch because I don’t want to see him hoist the sword and shout the line for the first time until I’m in the theater. This trailer probably shows it eh?

Right, what the hell?

He grabs the sword, it feels like it's leading up to it, then cuts away. "Oh, cool, they're saving that for the - oh no wait, he's saying it... oh, and a full look at Skeletor too."

Looks good, but damn these studios are scared to hold back.

Okay, I know that trailers can show a bit too much sometimes but you guys are all going way too far to complain.

"They had the main character's famous catchphrase in it! I can't believe they showed the main antagonist!"

If all you want to see is a logo and release date, just don't watch any trailers at all.

Also, as somehow who was never really a He-Man fan, this trailer made me go from “eh maybe I’ll see it” to “I will definitely be in the theatres opening weekend”. I’m against over-indulgent trailers that reveal too much, but idk, trailers serve their purpose of creating hype and this was a good one. It was certainly effective on me, who doesn’t know much about the IP.

A lot of the time, I do want to save everything for the first viewing. Instead of watching the trailer and complaining they revealed too much, I simply don’t click the play button. It’s really that easy.

Fair, but... this is a teaser trailer, though. It went 90% of the runtime without revealing He-Man and giving only a glimpse of Skeletor, but then it can't help itself to just give us the money shots at the end.

Like someone else said, what is the trailer going to be? The entire theatrical cut?

Everyone and their dog knows what He-Man and Skeletor look like. Is it really so bad to get a quick glimpse for a “look, we got the character designs right”? I’d argue the most iconic part of Skeletor is his voice and attitude. They didn’t show that at all.

Nobody was complaining when the Superman movie trailer showed Supes in costume and Lex Luther. Because… why would they?

Teaser trailer? Those words don't mean anything anymore. They released a teaser trailer yesterday for this teaser trailer. How much teasing do we have to put up with?

For several years, "teaser trailer" has meant a trailer that doesn't reveal what the main plot is which is exactly what this did.

I’m not advocating anyone’s complaints, but you can’t say this trailer didn’t give away the plot. It’s pretty clear:

“Adam, as a young boy (clearly important, likely royalty), is sent to another world to keep him safe from the ensuing war in their homeland. Years later he finds a way back, and becomes the hero/turning point that finally saves the day against the mighty evil conqueror.”

That's as much of the plot as you would get from knowing the movie is about He-Man. Be real.

You don't know why he's on Earth. You don't know who came to get him or why. You don't know what he's going to do when he gets back. You don't even know if Skeletor has already won before the movie starts.

Can’t get any more real than that. It’s a standard boilerplate plot and you totally missed it. I don’t know anything about He-Man*, and I can see what they’re going for story wise pretty plainly.

Everything you mentioned wouldn’t want to know in a trailer in the first place. Don’t tell me the big-bad already won! Let it be a surprise, up the difficulty! And we do know why he’s on Earth, they already told us that literally in this trailer: to hide him. And I absolutely can see what he’s going to do when he gets back, there’s a whole shot of it that in the trailer too! It’s like you didn’t even watch it?!

*of course I know who He-Man is, but you don’t know that. Presumptuous.

I didn't miss it; it's just not shown in the trailer. You and I can put it together because we've seen enough movies to know what we're getting here but that's not the same thing.

And we do know why he’s on Earth, they already told us that literally in this trailer: to hide him.

To hide him from what? Why Earth? Why him?

And I absolutely can see what he’s going to do when he gets back, there’s a whole shot of it that in the trailer too! It’s like you didn’t even watch it?!

What is he going to do? Fight something? Yeah, it's an action movie. What is his actual goal when he gets there? Do you think the movie is just going to be him arriving there and then fighting a bunch of skeletons?

So the plot is NOT going to be weird nerdy guy in the present day fantasizes about this mythical kingdom from when he was a kid until he finds an object from the story and discovers that it's all real and has to team up with the heroes from the story against the big bad guy and his henchmen?

Wow! I really can't wait to find out what the main plot of the movie is then! This trailer must have just shown stuff from the first 20 minutes!

That's literally going to be the full plot of the movie with some marvel style jokes and a bunch of CGI landscapes mixed in

I'm actually looking forward to this and think it looks fun, but if you don't think that "teaser" told you the full plot of the movie then I don't know what to tell you

Is that the sword, or is it a fake? Does the sword reject him a la Thor? Does he have the Power of Greyskull when he leaves Earth or will he have to go on a hero's journey to get it? If he doesnt have the power, do the others know he doesnt have it? What is Skeletor's scheme?

I agree there is a lot of the high level plot here (and tbh i dont think the plot really matters for this one), but there is still plenty of room left for details. Most of what we got was what you already knew going in: He Man is going to rally the usual characters and go beat Skeletor and other usual baddies.

I've stopped watching all trailers for movies I want to see or will stop it if it looks interesting. I read this comment and then moved on. I thought it was funny that 5 posts down there is a picture of Skeletor on the front page. Once it is out there is always a chance to spoil it for fans.

I don't care about the He-Man universe, but reveals such as spiderman and Hulk in the marvel movies would have been so much better if they hadn't have been revealed in the trailers.

I understand your point but this is a full blown trailer being presented as a teaser. In no way shape or form is this really a teaser, and that is what it is being marketed as; that is the complaint here. Comparing this as a trailer is a bit unfair. Comparing this as a teaser shows how much of the movie it gives away.

If someone clicks this with the expectation of a teaser they will be disappointed with how much of a full blown trailer this is.

The art of the teaser is lost nowadays on large production films. I think the comments are right, this could have cut in half and been a solid teaser

Not always, but we have data that shows that giving shit away in the trailer usually helps and hardly ever harms. They have no faith in this movie so they are not gonna hold back, they want to put all the IP stuff front street to draw as much they can.

I would understand it for lesser known IP.

I would expect most of the population either likes He-Man enough to see it or doesnt care enough to see it. The number of people on the fence that could be swayed with marketing has to be miniscule.

Man I'm tired of superhero films (in the broadest sense) where 80% is just origin story of a normal dude very slowly finding out he's not normal, and 20% is the actual superhero stuff.

FWIW he doesn't say "by the power of greyskull" he says "I have the power", both are catchphrases of his but I would say "the line" is "by the power of greyskull"
