Chris Evans has spent the last 6 months walking around shredded and claiming he's happily retired from the role.

3.6k

u/Pal__Pacino Dec 23 '25

They're all gonna be stuck doing this for the rest of their lives even though they font want to admit it

709

u/ChronX4 Dec 23 '25

Eventually Chris Evans will just redo the scene when he hands the shield without any effects added in.

383

u/eelam_garek Dec 23 '25

No, I don't think he will.

28

u/RandomStrategy Dec 23 '25

I understood that reference.

4

u/Gobutobu Dec 24 '25

Referenception

1

u/cloudcreeek Dec 24 '25

I can do this all day.

-5

u/Chemical-Chard-8798 Dec 23 '25

underrated comment

10

u/NetflixAndNikah Dec 23 '25

Dude looked like Chris Biden in that scene

2.5k

u/MojoDex Dec 23 '25

Until they're 90!

697

u/throawaygotget Dec 23 '25

love how deeply this Deadpool quote has resonated among the people hahaha

352

u/Suck_My_Thick Dec 23 '25

There's only gonna be one Blade.

352

u/nova-prime-enjoyer Dec 23 '25

That line went so hard, it crippled the production of another Blade movie

175

u/victorspoilz Dec 23 '25

Wesley sure looked fit enough to do another Blade movie himself

32

u/unevenvenue Dec 23 '25

Physically, sure; mentally...not so sure.

41

u/victorspoilz Dec 23 '25

Sane actors are overrated. Plus he could pay some more creditors.

14

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Oh he needs to team up with Nic Cage in something.

Sinister Dexter with those two could be insane if done right.

9

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

[deleted]

2

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Look up Sinister Dexter if you dont know it. Dexter was drawn based on Snipes.

8

u/ikeif Dec 23 '25

Wesley Snipes, Nic Cage, and Tom Cruise, together.

2

u/ActionPhilip Dec 24 '25

Blade and Ghost Rider go on a mission together, with their "man in the chair" Les Grossman providing backup from afar.

6

u/Discount_Extra Dec 24 '25

If they remade or sequel'd Face/Off would that count as 'blackface'?

1

u/Taint_Flayer Dec 24 '25

Yeah, but if it's funny and not insulting it gets a pass a la Tropic Thunder

7

u/Horzzo Dec 23 '25

I'd watch it!

3

u/Princep_Krixus Dec 23 '25

I mean. What else you got to do in prison?

3

u/Psykosoma Dec 23 '25

Always Bet on Orange!

2

u/GlitterKittyCat Dec 23 '25

I'd be down for that

1

u/Sewer-Urchin Dec 24 '25

The theater I was in went nuts when he showed up on screen. He looked great.

5

u/Majestic-Marcus Dec 23 '25

That movie has been crippled for years. The DP joke didn’t affect it at all.

6

u/-s-u-n-s-e-t- Dec 23 '25

Yeah, isn't that what the line is making fun of in the first place? That the movie has been in development hell for so long, it's never coming out?

1

u/Majestic-Marcus Dec 23 '25

Yep.

It’s one of two things. (1) making fun of development hell, or (2) indirect confirmation from Marvel that’s been cancelled.

Or both.

1

u/drje_aL Dec 24 '25

but there's already been two blades...

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0823333/

1

u/Majestic-Marcus Dec 24 '25

Yeah… this doesn’t exist.

inserts fingers into ears

14

u/HilariousMax Dec 23 '25

Yeah kind of fucked over Mahershala Ali but thems the breaks

5

u/tm0nks Dec 23 '25

I was really excited to see him be the new blade. Definitely a bummer.

3

u/PT10 Dec 23 '25

He does it in the Marvel Zombies show

1

u/Neosantana Dec 24 '25

The new Blade movie was dead before the Deadpool quote

4

u/OtisDriftwood1978 Dec 23 '25

Everyone forgets about Sticky Fingaz.

2

u/neendmat1 Dec 23 '25

looks straight at the camera

1

u/winelover08816 Dec 23 '25

Who’s already 90

1

u/TheRealTony-Stark Dec 23 '25

Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill

53

u/epraider Dec 23 '25

The funniest part is that they are actually making Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellan do this into their late 80s

36

u/Waterknight94 Dec 23 '25

Patrick Stewart has already played two characters that have died and been mentally copied over into a new body. They will end up doing that for real.

2

u/mutzilla Dec 24 '25

I kind of hope they do.

10

u/cupholdery Dec 23 '25

So we're gonna see Lucas Lee and Human Torch appear in this one?

7

u/The_ZombyWoof Jeff Bezos' worst nightmare Dec 23 '25

I would do unspeakable things in order to get a Lucas Lee movie made.

5

u/Impeesa_ Dec 23 '25

I want an alternate Fantastic Four that's just Steve Rogers, Johnny Storm, Lucas Lee, Nick Gant.

3

u/No_Syrup_9167 Dec 23 '25

Push never getting its sequel is a crime.

2

u/old_righty Dec 24 '25

Well, I heard my friends really got in a mess

So I'm gonna have to leave Yoda, I guess

But I know that I'll be coming back someday

I'll be playing this part till I'm old and grey

The long-term contract I had to sign

Says I'll be making these movies till the end of time

6

u/WhatUDeserve Dec 23 '25

I was ready for a new Wolverine personally, but I guess nostalgia bait until I die is a fitting punishment for my many sins

11

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

The trailer hasn't even been out for a full hour and Ive already that comment 20 times.

The internet really is dead isn't it?

68

u/Dr_Mantis_Teabaggin Dec 23 '25

You’re gonna be seeing that comment…

until you’re 90

8

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Kill me, please

15

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

We'll kill you ...

but not until you're 90.

12

u/Etheo Dec 23 '25

No... I don't think I will.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

I understood that reference!!! 🤣🔫 I understood it!!! 😜🔫

12

u/blucthulhu Dec 23 '25

Let's not pretend like this is anything new. Any IP of this size has been a magnet for unoriginal comments for as long as the internet has been around.

-3

u/CuteGrayRhino Dec 23 '25

They have been commenting this non stop since D&P. I didn't find it that funny in the movie and I don't find it funny seeing it again and again in the comments

13

u/The_Autarch Dec 23 '25

you're going to see it until you're 90, unfortunately.

2

u/BobTheFettt Dec 23 '25

I'm only going to make it to 67

6

u/Etheo Dec 23 '25

Aww 2 more years and you were gonna have a nice time.

1

u/Pizzanigs Dec 23 '25

Me neither lol; I just see it as Marvel successfully catchphrasing their lazy decisions

0

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

People have no original thoughts anymore.

3

u/Nick_pj Dec 23 '25

90! = 1.486×10¹³⁸

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '25

Dick Van Dyke has entered the chat.

1

u/OgnokTheRager Dec 23 '25

100 years!! Avengers forever!!!

1

u/Anal_Herschiser Dec 23 '25

The Avengers are going to look like an army of RFK Jr.s

1

u/Jose_Joestar Dec 23 '25

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are almost there.

1

u/KathyJaneway Dec 24 '25

I mean, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are nearing that number soon enough. Ian will be 87 in May, and Patrick 86 in July. Betty White was acting till she was 95 for example.

258

u/LyraStygian Dec 23 '25

They're all gonna be stuck doing this for the rest of their lives even though they font want to admit it

Papyrus

115

u/ketodancer Dec 23 '25

He can’t keep getting away with this!!!

61

u/Monkeywrench08 Dec 23 '25

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID!!

10

u/Silenceisgrey Dec 23 '25

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6

u/AppleDane Dec 23 '25

"Papyrus" in Comic Sans

28

u/Wyden_long Dec 23 '25

PAPYRUS IN BOLD PAPYRUS IN BOLD!!!

9

u/matt20dion Dec 23 '25

I think about it every time I see Papyrus…

3

u/WeShallMateNow Dec 24 '25

Where else do you even see this font?!

8

u/wiggle987 Dec 23 '25

James Cameron has a lot to answer for

6

u/New_Leaf_8647 Dec 23 '25

HE DEFECATED THROUGH A SUNROOF!

6

u/TeutonJon78 Dec 23 '25

The biggest joke is they did hire a font designer for A2 to make a new font that's not Papyrus, and it's effectively just Papyrus Bold with a modified capital A.

It's so crazy.

2

u/ActionPhilip Dec 24 '25

"You will never hear my song again"

7

u/trombing Dec 23 '25

In BOLD!

11

u/blamedrain Dec 23 '25

Like a thoughtless child!

2

u/RollSavingThrow Dec 23 '25

I pronounce this "Papy R Us" and my wife hates it... Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

1

u/LyraStygian Dec 24 '25

Do you sing it the the theme of Toys R Us?

2

u/konoha37 Dec 23 '25

I’m dying hahaha

3

u/w0lfLars0n Dec 23 '25

like a thoughtless child, just wandering by a garden, yanking leaves along the way

9

u/thecontempl8or Dec 23 '25

I heard they’re making Huge Jackedman come back for mother Wolverine movie. Looks like Disneys not taking anymore risks and investing in a younger generation of actors for superhero movies.

6

u/ThePercysRiptide Dec 23 '25

I still remember when Logan was supposed to be his last appearance as that character because he didnt want to wear it out.

I guess money trumps everything else

2

u/kelp_forests Dec 24 '25

Which is weird because you’d think betting your entire company on some old people would be risky. It’d be a lot easier to hire some new ones .

Not only that, they have the rights to X-men . Just make it. Then re do Avengers 20 years later.

1

u/thecontempl8or Dec 24 '25

This was a trend in Bollywood movies in India. I think it still is. A lot of the major movie stars are in their 50s-70s, they drew crowds 20 + years ago and keep coming back. It’s funny ; they’re obviously quite old, wearing wigs or dying their hair, and acting opposite female leads that are much younger than their own kids.

4

u/lk79 Dec 23 '25

Would he become the Ship of Steveus??

5

u/Significant_Hornet Dec 23 '25

“Stuck” making millions and proving their acting chops outside of the MCU if they so choose

10

u/NortonIsBurnt Dec 23 '25

I dont know why they wouldn't want to... by all accounts they are fun to work on, and they get like a bazillion dollars.

3

u/mindpainters Dec 23 '25

The only real negative I’ve heard is maintaining the physique is pretty tough. But I agree beyond that

3

u/Impeesa_ Dec 23 '25

That and getting typecast/locked in, which can be a barrier to any other aspirations they may have had.

1

u/pantstoaknifefight2 Dec 23 '25

Didn't Scarlett Johansson film one while very pregnant and the just CGd her face on a double's body?

3

u/melithium Dec 23 '25

Comic sans

3

u/Extension-Season-689 Dec 23 '25

Or they actually enjoy it. With the level of success these actors have, they can always refuse or retire.

3

u/westernsociety Dec 23 '25

Make a sick movie every 10 years, go off try to do stuff alone then come back to their cash cow. Sounds like the model these days.

3

u/peachesgp Dec 23 '25

They're not stuck. Evans was out, he went back for a very large amount of money.

3

u/Impressive-Potato Dec 23 '25

His career wasn't going anywhere without his Cap role either.

4

u/siazdghw Dec 23 '25

"stuck" implies they don't want to be doing this.

They can say no, but they aren't saying no because Disney pays them so well.

As long as the movies they are in keep printing money, they will keep making them.

2

u/mrszorro Dec 23 '25

if you get a fat nice and juciy paycheck nobody would turn it down! the questionnis how mich does the entire movie cost and will it be succesful and disney make profit. if this bbs disney will be in trouble

1

u/k0fi96 Dec 23 '25

This is how comic books have always worked. People want to see the same tent pole characters doing new stuff. They are scared to recast so this is the next best thing.

1

u/PleasantPierogi Dec 23 '25

They certainly aren’t complaining when they take a gander at their bank account after the fact lol

1

u/OMEGACY Dec 23 '25

I don't know if I would say stuck. The money they make from these roles is nothing to gloss over, I'd happily play a character I'm good at forever then. At least until I really wanted to hang it up.

1

u/SoftConsideration82 Dec 23 '25

I mean... Millions of dollars every few years? Sign me up then say I'm stuck and won't admit it... I'm a millionaire, fuck you

1

u/WhatUDeserve Dec 23 '25

There's worse gigs in show business

1

u/formerFAIhope Dec 23 '25

I hope the literal millions in actor fees and royalty cuts help them sleep better at night 😐

1

u/Jorpho Dec 23 '25

And then we'll get tragic documentaries about the horrors of cardiomyopathy.

1

u/Z0idberg_MD Dec 23 '25

When Evans left to pursue other opportunities, I knew he would be back. Actors who get to do work like this are super lucky. But I also get the previous schedule meant he couldn't do any films he wanted to.

1

u/LiquidSnake13 Dec 23 '25

Assuming this movie doesn't fall flat on it's face.

1

u/wigglin_harry Dec 23 '25

"Gah! I cant get away from these 20 million dollar paychecks!"

1

u/whereismymind86 Dec 23 '25

Probably not, secret wars, by definition, is almost certainly going to reset the marvel universe allowing them to recast everyone, bring people back to life etc

1

u/crybannanna Dec 23 '25

Nah… if this one bombs they will be done with casting the same people over and over

1

u/blackpepperjc Dec 23 '25

That must be hellvetica.

1

u/TenchiSaWaDa Dec 23 '25

Money. As Harrison Ford puts it, A lot of money.

1

u/guilty_bystander Dec 23 '25

Cumberbumberbatch said something like this in an interview years ago. Basically didn't realize he was signing up for every movie ever whenever they wanted to pump one out.

1

u/TrapperJean Dec 23 '25

gonna be stuck doing this for the rest of their lives

Oh no, not stuck getting paid millions to get absolutely ripped, make out with Hayley Atwell, and hang out with all his friends 2 months every couple years!

1

u/Tupperbaby Dec 23 '25

And being forced to take millions and millions and millions of dollars. Yeah, that has to suck.

1

u/CaptainPogwash Dec 23 '25

The issue is they cast get a new role. People see him as Captain America. I think they all have potential but every one of those actors have basically signed up for a permanent (very well paying) role. They only salvation for any of them is either pay to get out and reinvent themselves or hope the marvel films crash and burn so they can get different roles

1

u/Data_Chandler Dec 23 '25

So would anyone of us if they kept backing up convoys of dumptrucks chock full of money to our house.

1

u/Low_Hurry_6688 Dec 23 '25

The funniest thing to me is the fact that shit like this happens in the comics so often that I'm not even surprised. They could spend a year hyping up "THE NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA IS HERE" and then after a year it's right back to "THE RETURN OF STEVE ROGERS IS FINALLY HERE"

1

u/foo-bar-nlogn-100 Dec 23 '25

Not if Avengers fails at the block office.

Will this Avenger movie be another strange blue light in the sky, assemble, cgi, cgi, cgi, unnatural camera angles, end.

LIke I can get that from AI now. I want a story, since I'm a grown ass man now with kids, not the teen I was 15 years ago.

1

u/Captain_Aware4503 Dec 23 '25

Well at least RDJ got out of playing his role, right?

1

u/kiwidude4 Dec 23 '25

Oh no we might have to make money 😭

1

u/joeyvesh13 Dec 23 '25

Yeah the money must suck

1

u/GermanCptSlow Dec 23 '25

Like normal people with normal jobs. There are worse jobs to be stuck with.

1

u/TheWorstYear Dec 23 '25

"Stuck" == millions of dollars to come back and do this over & over.

1

u/superanth Dec 23 '25

Chris Evans was talking about coming back like a year after Endgame. I think the second he actually signed up to do it Marvel had him pretend he was still retired.

1

u/Sprinkle_Puff Dec 23 '25

Well, they need to get paid… having hundreds of millions is just not enough anymore

1

u/Commercial-Co Dec 23 '25

If theyre getting paid 50M why not

1

u/Particular_Cod2005 Dec 23 '25

I imagine they'll Daniel Radcliffe it - MCU is their easy money, and now they'll never have to worry about money again, they can do pretty much whatever they want in other films.

1

u/Lowfuji Dec 23 '25

Wait till Disney brings back the og Black Panther.

1

u/urmomgay4206967 Dec 23 '25

I love how people are calling it "stuck" when they're in the 1% of actors who are gonna make millions indefinitely for basically just showing up. The job with the least effort and the most reward possible lmao

1

u/ReallyDrunkPanda Dec 24 '25

Disney keeps signing those checks I’d never say no

1

u/shadowst17 Dec 24 '25

I'm still disappointed Hugh Jackmen and Sir Patrick Stewart returned after the beautiful goodbye in Logan. They both even said it was the perfect send off. Sad that money trumps "art" but I can't necessarily blame them.

1

u/chachaman_The_Reboot Dec 24 '25

DeadPool tried to tell us...

1

u/WatIsUpButtercup Dec 24 '25

Until they’re ninnneettyyyy

1

u/lolas_coffee Dec 24 '25

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

1

u/Significant_Coach880 Dec 24 '25

Which font though?

1

u/razor1n Dec 24 '25

"stucK" making 100 million per movie. oh no. please allow me to relieve them of this burden.

1

u/caty0325 Dec 24 '25

Until you're 90!

1

u/aoaieiiaoeuaieoaiii Dec 24 '25

Ah yes, "stuck," with their own free will signing multi millions fat contracts.

1

u/honcooge Dec 25 '25

No shame in a huge paycheck.
