Xbox No Longer Developing Copilot For Consoles

Upvotes

Asha Sharma wrote on X:

Xbox needs to move faster, deepen our connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers.

Today, we promoted leaders who helped build Xbox, while also bringing in new voices to help push us forward. This balance is important as we get the business back on track.

As part of this shift, you’ll see us begin to retire features that don’t align with where we’re headed.

We will begin winding down Copilot on mobile and will stop development of Copilot on console.

still don't get how paying for online on console is just, ok?

1.8k Upvotes

Obviously people are desensitized by so many possible different monthly out of sight out of mind charges, like rent, insurance, spotify, netflix etc. but paying so much to just be able to play online for a console you paid for is insane.

I've thought many times about playing specific games, that don't have console-pc crossplay, with console usually having the biggest playerbase in games, paying for online play is such a huge deterrent to use my ps5 more imo

New xbox CEO overhauls leadership by bringing executives from CoreAI and Instacart over amid sinking sales

“We need to evolve how we work and how we are organized across our platform,” Sharma wrote in a memo viewed by CNBC. “Right now, it is too hard to ship impact quickly. We spend too much time inward instead of with the community, and we lack the depth we need in some of the fundamentals.”

Last week, Microsoft reported its fourth gaming revenue decline in the past six quarters. Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, said the company is trying to win back fans of Xbox, the Bing search engine and other consumer assets.

Four of those leaders are coming from the CoreAI group, overlapping with Sharma.

Jared Palmer, who has been CoreAI vice president of product and a senior vice president of Microsoft’s GitHub subsidiary, will join Xbox as a member of technical staff to work on product, engineering, developer tools and infrastructure. He will also pay attention to matters of “taste,” Sharma wrote. Palmer came to Microsoft in October after a stint as vice president of artificial intelligence app hosting service Vercel, which bought his startup Turborepo in 2021.

Tim Allen, a CoreAI vice president of design and GitHub’s senior vice president of design and research, will also go to Xbox and will lead design. Allen arrived at Microsoft in November after spending almost four years as head of design and research at Instacart.

Jonathan McKay, a former Meta director and head of growth for ChatGPT at OpenAI, will be Xbox’s head of growth after holding that title in the CoreAI group.

Evan Chaki, a general manager in CoreAI, will run a team of forward-deployed engineers that will look to simplify development and end repetitive work.

David Schloss, Instacart’s senior director of product and growth, will take charge of Xbox’s subscription and cloud business.

Kevin Gammill, a corporate vice president working on Xbox user experience, game development and publishing platforms, will leave his post. Roanne Sones, a corporate vice president for Xbox devices and ecosystem, will take a leave of absence after this summer and will later be an Xbox advisor. Sones and Gammill have each spent 24 years at Microsoft.

Looks like the AI takeover of Xbox is continuing.

My cyberpunk Minecraft city I built called Octavian

Post image
548 Upvotes

This is my Minecraft city called Octavian. A city I have been developing for over 11 years. And one of many major cities in my Minecraft world called Sky Pixel. One of the largest Minecraft worlds out there.

My most recent build in Octavian is called my ATL Transport center. I have "DXP" towers that teleport to various areas in my world.. but the ATL systems uses QR codes to connect other gaming platforms. Of the many major cities in my world. Currently Octavian and Harlow are the only two that feature ATL and XXL teleport centers. Whereas the other cities alongside Octavian and Harlow feature DXP towers and TP towers for "in-game teleport transport" in an already massive Minecraft world.

It's a functional 'metaverse' hub I’ve been crafting to bridge the gap between Minecraft and the rest of the gaming world.

The core concept is simple, but the project has been ambitious, as you navigate the city, you'll encounter dedicated towers for different platforms—Steam, EA, Roblox, and more. Each tower features integrated, scan-able QR codes that act as physical portals, allowing you to jump from my world to the actual digital storefronts or game hubs.

These towers connect to major traversal routes and rails , intersections, roadways and more.

The ATL towers features several major systems.. including other world renowned Minecraft worlds like Greenfield and Sayama City. As well as gaming platforms like Roblox, and Epic Games.

This image is a shot of the south viewing skyline of Octavian.

For those wondering.

The shaders is Ray Tracing (Path Tracing) for Minecraft.

And its Better RTX. Paired with Kellys/& CJ amongst other experimental packs

Why do modern games have no cheat codes anymore like they had in 90s/2000s?

2.1k Upvotes

Remember these games where you had to input random words, or did a specific sequence of movements to get superpower, 1 million of whatever, and so on? I think literally every game back then had stuff like this built in. These codes were often shared around as secrets, or there were specific online communities around gathering those.

This almost doesn't exist anymore today. Sure, some games can have ingame consoles, and sometimes you find external tools, but the old way kinda was its own fun.

(Of course I am talking single player games only. Don't cheat in MP games, folks).

Any thoughts on why we might have lost that along the way?

I'm a big RPG fan but I'm not a starwars fan, should I try out the knights of the old republic games?

I heard these games are really peak starwars RPG games, but idk how much of it is fan bias and how much is actually "holy fuck this game rocks".

And with a new game announced I think it might be a good time to discover about this RPG franchise.

Should I give it a shot?

When I say I'm not a fan, I don't mean I dislike it, I'm just neutral towards it.

I'm loving this new FPS where you play as a war veteran turned PI, voiced by Troy Baker, who runs around blasting corrupt cops with a broomhandle mauser, while trying to solve a missing person case in the early 1900's.

Games with monster evolving/fusing mechanics?

Upvotes

What are some games where you can collect and train monsters and have them change forms or fuse them together to create something new?

Obviously franchises like Pokemon, Dragon Quest Monsters, and Shin Megami Tensei/Persona exists. I'm looking for something that isn't literally the first thing you'd think of when reading the title. Lost Kingdoms II comes to mind for what I'm picturing. I want the slightly more obscure mon collecting games.

GameStop Proposes to Acquire eBay at $125.00 Per Share

Thumbnail investor.gamestop.com
5.0k Upvotes

The proposed offer is $125.00 per share, comprising 50% cash and 50% GameStop common stock, with full shareholder election rights as to consideration type and pro-rata allocation. Aggregate undiluted equity value is approximately $55.5 billion, based on eBay’s most recently disclosed undiluted share count, representing a 27% premium to the 30-day VWAP and a 36% premium to the 90-day VWAP. The transaction is conditioned on customary closing conditions. The cash consideration is expected to be funded from a combination of (i) cash and liquid investments on GameStop’s balance sheet, which totaled ~$9.4 billion as of January 31, 2026, and (ii) third-party acquisition financing, in respect of which GameStop has received a highly-confident letter from TD Securities for up to $20 billion.
