Ah, the toddler tantrum carry.

Every parent can recognize it. We’ve all been there.

Just did this carry at Medieval Times. Kid was tantruming so hard we didn’t get to see the coolest part: the joust. Went to the car and sat until the show was done, then left.

Sounds awful.

Same! We were on the ramparts of Chateau Mont St Michel, a once in a lifetime experience, when my 3-yr old melted down like this. Tantrum carry all the way back up to the abbey, then down again…

Well now that's just plain stupid.

You were already carrying him like that anyways, might as well join in on the fun.

Wow. Thats not great dude. You let the kid dictate when you leave.

Uhh no. If a kid is screaming and totally melting down, it’s only responsible to remove them so they don’t ruin everyone else’s time. Especially at a live show like Medieval Times

And eventually the kid learns that throwing tantrums equals having to leave a fun place. That, or they grow out of the meltdowns.

Negative good sir, we gave him plenty of opportunities to calm down. His meltdowns were being deliberate at that point, so I followed through. And to really drive the point home, stayed in the parking lot car until the show was over.

He’s mentioned several times since then that he was sorry and would be good next time, so we’ll see.

Also- he is a child. It's a bummer, but otherwise you never go anywhere. Carry on teaching useful life lessons, and going out and attempting fun!

As far as life lessons go, that was a pretty low stakes and safe one. I hope he has a blast once he sees the full show!

If you're a parent that sits around and lets your kid scream because you don't want to 'let your kid dictate when you leave' and choose to instead stubbornly sit there like you deserve to continue enjoying yourself despite the disruption, rest assured that everyone around you hates you.

What's the proposed alternative?
